On point! oh, maybe i should close with that. dam! ok, so high four stars, still only been once, so i am not able to give the 5 star lock assurance, even though i gave em 5 up top! So, i needed brakes, i asked yelp, and here we are! First, it was pretty easy scheduling and dropping the car off, no worries there. I thought i would luck out and they could fix em while i waited, which they did, but it did take 4 hours. so is life. when i set up the appointment, perhaps communication was the best, i was under the impression the whole job was going to cost X, when it was all done it cost 2x, i was told i was quoted half the job, but i am POSITIVE i asked the total on the phone and well, i stood on that ground. i didnt get all pissy or jerky, but if it was what it turned out to be, well, i think i could have found it a hair cheaper at a chain, which wasnt what i wanted.....ever. the owner explained that he was on vacation and if he was there when the appointment was made the total would have been right on the mark. he did feel bad about the misrepresentation and knocked off a smidgen to make it feel right, which i did, so there! as for their waiting room, which i spend a little longer than i had hoped, well, it was deec. tv, cable, magazines. the bathroom scared the hell out of me, and thats saying a lot! but its a garage and they use it, so dont prep for your colonoscopy while waiting and you should be ok. would i use them again? likely, will i repeat myself again? on point! read more

Uh... I brought in a rolling nightmare, and I was driving within a week. And I mean a rolling nightmare. Unfinished motor swap (after taking it to two IDIOTS), blown cats, horribly worn clutch and flywheel... the car was in pieces. They put Humpty Dumpty back together again. In fact, it could have taken less than a week if I had all the parts! They needed a wiring harness, because some third IDIOT, the one who sold me the engine, didn't tell me it came from an automatic, and the first IDIOT who worked on my car threw away my manual wiring harness when he took out the old motor. But you will not deal with idiots here. Ty was the mechanic that did the job on my car, and since April, this thing has been floating and stinging like Muhammad Ali. It's a 350Z... a serious performance car... not your momma's Toyota Corolla. Considering they're a real mechanic shop, prices for labor are reasonable. They'll even encourage you to buy your own parts online or in stores so you can save money. I provided the wiring harness and the cats, they provided the clutch kit and o2 sensors. Paid about $2200 for this humungous job, including labor, the parts they provided, and tax. My goodness was it worth it. Can't put a price tag on pure driving joy. read more

The worst mechanics. Told me I had a faulty head gasket, tried to tell me it would cost close to $3000 and when I brought it for a second opinion, they told be there was nothing wrong with My head gasket. The. They proceeded to charge me almost $100 for putting antifreeze in my car. read more

Also 0 stars if I could. This guy either employs homeless people off the street or just has no idea what he is doing himself. I brought my car in to have the exhaust replaced. Simple enough job. Took four days and when I showed up to pick my car up, he said, "Hey, I also went ahead and replaced your distributor caps and wires because it seemed like a cylinder was misfiring." For an extra $250. Without calling me to ask if that was okay. I thought he knew best, so I said it was fine and paid for it. The next week, my car started stalling out at intersections. I brought it back. He said, "Uhh, I dunno, I can't seem to perform a diagnostic. It's probably your exhaust valve. I jiggled it and it seems fine now." Still charged me for an hour's worth of diagnostic work. Nope. Didn't fix it. I brought it to another mechanic. Guess what the problem was? Bad wiring (the "new" ones he'd installed for the distributor caps and spark plugs). The other mechanic literally asked me if I had tried to do the repairs myself without knowing what I was doing. It would be cheaper and you would get better service to have your car towed basically anywhere else. Maybe even a homeless shelter. read more

0 stars if I could! I am a new customer and dropped off my car this morning to have it evaluated for an oil leak. When it was done they simply called me and I told them I will come to pick it up. During the conversation, never once did they say what time they closed nor what time I should be there to pick it up. MOREOVER, they did not followup to ask me if I was still coming or was on my way, but instead simply closed without ever getting in touch with me again. I worked until 6 (they close at 5), and was completely stranded. My car keys and my house keys were NOWHERE to be found, and to top it off, they left my car unlocked. I spent an hour trying to see if they hid my key somewhere and to try to contact someone to avoid being stranded. NO. SUCH. LUCK. There are two options here, either they completely forgot that I was coming or assumed that I wasnt coming, but either way was happy to leave my car unlocked OVERNIGHT. Since I am not sure whether or not the keys were well hidden (and since I only have one copy), I was forced to leave my car unlocked but my alarm armed and my brake lock on (its like a club for brakes). I AM LIVID. That they would completely let me be stranded, and happy to leave my car unsecured. I AM DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED AND COMPLETELY ANGRY. UPDATE: After spending an hour stranded at night, I was able to stay with a friend who was kind enough to come pick me up and drop me back here. When I started to talk to them, the only thing they would let me say was that "I didnt know when you closed, you never called to see if I was coming, and you left my car unlocked with all my keys in your shop that has my house keys leaving me stranded" when they turned around, grabbed my keys, gave it to me and WITHOUT ANY APOLOGY, started attending to another customer. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND SIMPLY RUDE BEHAVIOR. UNAPOLOGETIC, DISCOURTEOUS and HIDEOUSLY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER DISSERVICE. read more

I have been coming here for years for repairs and oil changes and I would recommend them for any type of car as I've brought all the cars I've owned there and it was a variety: Pontiac Grand Am and Grand Prix, Ford Contour, Honda Civic, and now a BMW. I was searching for their hours online so I can drop my car off this morning and came across the yelp reviews. I've had a few repairs done to 3 cars with them and it's always been great! I'm always cringing when they call back to give me a price because I'm used to other shops. Always surprised by the low price! I've leaned over the years to look at what the people working at a shop drive. If I'm correct and that is a good indicator, this is the place to go. I have nothing but good to say about Lapointe Automotive. I was introduced to Peter (owner) a couple of years ago through a friend. I've used Lapointe a number of times. All with great results. I've recently moved to Cheshire from Manchester and my biggest regret was having to leave Lapointe behind. When you find a good doctor, mechanic or barber you hate to move on. At least I do. Good ones are hard to find. I drove to Lapointe this morning to have my daughter's Camry repaired. She was quoted $300 here in Cheshire. Peter repaired it in an hour for $120. Not certain about the diagnosis and work performed . I had my car towed there to have these guys check into why it wouldn't start . I was referred to them from another local guy in the industry so I gave them a shot. Turned out to be a timing belt and of course the water pump .So yes $670 and they could get it done in a day or 2 . O.K. fine. When I went to cash out and pick up the car the bill was $715 because he saw some oil leak so he added a couple seals. Crankcase and oil pump seals. The reason for 2 stars is that It was completely obvious that I had a valve cover gasket leak . The guy said the belt was soaked with oil and that's why it broke MAYBE. If the work was honest and well thought out and detective work was in play here any other mechanic would bring to my attention that there is a serious oil leak coming from valve cover gasket and recommend that it be replaced.He seemed very quiet about the repair like as if he was hiding something . No logical reason for diagnosis or detail of work . Kind of left me in the dark. Maybe they don't like to tell the secrets of the trade or maybe he screwed me . I went back to show him and I forgot to ask him why he didn't see that but I did show him that antifreeze was not refilled after they did the water pump but I was charged $15 for antifreeze . He topped it off then opened the radiator cap and antifreeze spewed out because your not suppose to open the cap when the engine is hot.He said he would rinse it off but I just left . I'll pass on a second try with this business. So with that said I'm sure if I was suckered and now was sketchy about trying them a second time and never returned than there will be 10 more suckers in line right behind me so I'm sure these places don't really care about return customers.That's how these places operate and that's why they can get away with not being honest . There is always someone with a car problem . The experience here was not a total disaster so that's why there is more than 1 star. Just a little suspicious . read more
