First went here for emissions testing and had a very positive experience. I was able to drive up and get it done in less than 15 minutes, and Ruben was friendly and funny. I came back couple months later to get a 120k mile service and it only took 2 hours. The price was extremely reasonable compared to the other repair shops that I was looking at and they were able to fit an appointment in within less than a week. While I was waiting, Jay was chatting with me and he is a very personable guy, makes you feel like family, and really establishes a great rapport with his customers. I'd been putting off a repair on my undercarriage (damage from unavoidable highway debris in heavy traffic), and driving around without AC for a few months because I was dreading the cost I'd been quoted elsewhere to patch the hole & get a new compressor. Absolutely worthless. They came on a AAA call to put on a spare and cross threaded three bolts. They offered to fix it and drop it off at Town Fair Tire when they were done, so I brought it back to them after the weekend. Next day I get a call from Justin, who said it had been dropped off. I call Town Fair a few hours later and they don't have it. The car hadn't been dropped off, and I don't even know if they fixed the bolts. I haven't been able to use my car for almost a week now because of these incompetent liars. read more

So, I had the unfortunate event of my car breaking down. Instead of being smart and towing it back closer to my house, I decided to go with the AAA recommendation. Being the holiday weekend, I was hoping they would be able to fix it that weekend, but alas, I had bad timing. So, my patience wasn't exactly there when I found out I had to wait longer than I wanted to get my car back, when they did call me back on the first day I was quite a bit calmer, which is why I'm glad I waited to write a review. It was a pretty labor-intensive job (clutch replaced), and took just a smidge longer than I really hoped it would, but only by a couple hours at the most. Picked it up, everything was very quick, very smoothly done. And now, I have a car that drives like it was the first day I bought it. So much so that I'm finding myself stalling out cause I got so use to a worn down clutch. They did an excellent job repairing it, and hopefully I'll never have to get it fixed again, but if I'm out that way and it happens, I'll know that this is a place to trust. read more

This review is for the SALES DEPARTMENT as I have not been here exclusively for repairs. POOR EXPERIENCE! 1) BEWARE OF THE $499 DEALER FEE! WOW! I later learned this is negotiable, but not until I read the fine print on the form. Expect to pay about $1000 more than asking price after they add their fees. 2) Incomplete safety check: - Windshield wipers were torn up when I first turned them on in the rain. Very scary incident for me. I had to right away purchase a new pair for $40 at a local shop. - Brakes were squeaking within 1 day of me getting the car . I brought it back that week they checked it and said everything was new and I just needed to give the break sometime to wear in. TWO MONTHS later they are grinding and I need new rotors. - Car still had writing on the windows from the dealer when I picked it up. Such a small thing to take care of but it wasn't done. - Maintenance light has already gone on to tell me I need an oil change. It's only been a month. 3) NO WARRANTY! ZERO! NOT EVEN 30 DAYS, NOT EVEN 3 DAYS. I was told however that'd they'd "hook me up" if there were any problems. However, my last request was ignored and no return phone call. Would I recommend this place? No. The sales department is sketchy. I continue to drive this car worried about what else they did not inspect before selling it to me. With no warranty to help me feel secure, i feel scammed. I will also take my car elsewhere for repairs after the poor safety inspection. read more

Had a great experience with Jay's Auto today. My car wouldn't start at all in the morning, no matter what I tried and my insurance put me through to Jay's to see if I could get towed. I spoke with Justin on the phone who was so nice despite the fact that I was super flustered and Ruben came with the tow truck to pick me up. Ruben took one look at the car and after five minutes, the car was up and running (turned out the car was just too cold to start). I just moved to CT and don't have a whole lot of experience driving in cold weather. If they had towed me, taken it to the shop and charged me for services, I really wouldn't have been none the wiser. These guys are life savers. While traveling through CT, we had to pull off near Manchester. For some reason, the car died on us, leaving us stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. We called AAA and they assigned Jay's to our service call. The gentleman in the tow truck was very friendly, escorting us back to the shop. They were able to pinpoint the problem within minutes and were ready to help us get a rental car if needed. These are good guys and they helped us out in a pinch. read more

Disgusting experience with Jay's Auto! They were a AAA contracted tow shop dispatched to tow my vehicle... When they put the vehicle on the truck, they engaged my emergency brake (which I did not use since I owned the vehicle) They dropped the vehicle at my residence and left... A few weeks later I was driving to work and my rear brakes started acting strange...so I pulled off the road and notice my rotor was GLOWING RED and there were flames coming out of my brake pads... I put the fire out (luckily) and had the vehicle towed... The shop that repaired the vehicle determined...and demonstrated with the actual parts that the fire and damage was cause by "an emergency brake that was not fully disengaged..." I immediately CONTACTED AAA...and they accepted NO responsibility...stating that it was the negligence of the tow shop...not them... I reached out to Jay's Auto and spoke with the owner Jay...and he screamed at me (not even letting me speak) and finally said, and I quote "FUCK YOU" before hanging up the phone! I have been trying in good faith to resolve this matter with them out of court...however, they didn't respond to a certified letter requesting a resolution, so now I have begun the small claims court process to recover my damages! Bottom line...I would NEVER recommend Jay's Auto or AAA to anyone for any automotive needs... They are extremely rude and unprofessional and lack basic customer service skills when handling customer service complaints... Besides...would you do business with someone, the owner, no less, who speaks to customers like that on the phone? read more

Zero stars. These scumbags refused to provide me with a copy of my receipt from some work they had done previously. I needed it to apply for a refund for servicing a part now under recall by the car manufacturer. Just to be petty they acted as if they would email me a copy of the receipt but it was really just a run around and they never did. I told them I lived 2 hours away and me traveling that far just to get a receipt copy during a world wide PANDEMIC wouldn't benefit anyone involved but that would've been too helpful and their allergic to that. SCAMMERS! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! I would give zero stars if I could. Towed my car to their shop with AAA because it wouldn't start. I towed it there on a Thursday for a Friday morning appointment that I had arranged over the phone. They didn't even start working on my car until 2 hours before closing on the Friday of my original appt. Told me they would call me back with a diagnosis and never did. Didn't hear back about the car until Monday. After going over what was wrong I told them to fix it. When they called to tell me the car was ready for pickup the owner Jay spoke with me and told me that the car was running good but they found during the test drive that it needed front brakes and roders. I told them to go ahead and do it. It was about an hour before close when they called back for me to come get the car. My mother paid for both jobs over the phone. I rushed down there in an Uber and when I tried to leave in the car it died right in the parking lot. Jay told me it just had "bad gas" and forgot to tell me. He said to take it next door to the gas station. I told him I was nervous to because the car was stalled in his parking lot and he didn't care, just told me the gas would fix it. I went to the gas station and the car died and I couldn't move it. Never even got close enough to the pump to get the gas. Called back and Jay had left for the day. Tow truck driver came to get the car back and assured me they would look at the car the next morning. They did not. I had to call myself to find out if the car was ready and they said I could come down and get it and that it was driving fine. I arrived and the car was doing the same thing. Wouldn't stay on. Kept stalling. They continue to insist they test drove the vehicle when it was clear at this point that no one could be test driving it because it doesn't run.. but they insisted on keeping it yet ANOTHER day to try and fix it. The call the next morning and say it was a broken wire and all is finally fixed. I was able to drive home with the car, about a 7 minute drive. I went to go out to the store about 3 hours after returning home with the car and the car died not even half a mile from my house. They had the car for over a week, charged me close to $900 in repairs, and I still have no car. Now when I call there the owner is refusing to refund me any money, hung up on me because I was upset and is now having his employees lie to me about him not being there when I know he is. They all lied and scammed me out of money when they couldn't fix my car. They should have NEVER added on a damn brake job either especially if they knew the car wasn't running. I'm no mechanic but I'm not stupid either. I would warn you to go ANYWHERE else but here for anything at all to do with your car. I wouldn't have been upset if they just said they can't fix the car and just charged me for the diagnostic or the attempted diagnostic, but instead they lied about the car being fixed, talked me into a second job before I could drive the car myself and are now refusing to do right by me when I was more than patient with them up until this point. On May 25th I called up my insurance provider requesting for roadside assistance "Tow". As luck would have it; Jay's Auto Sales & Repair were assigned or responded to the request with an ETA of 45 mins. After sitting on the roadside for an hour; I called them up and was greeted by a rude man with a rude tone informing me that he had tried to call me thrice and someone said "wrong number"; so he did not make it to the Tow spot. It later turned out that he not once but thrice kept messing up the last few digits of my number and hence was not able to reach me because of a mistake of his. He later accepted the mistake. I appreciated his honesty; as these things happen and continued to wait for another 20 mins on the road side. All the while thinking ;they had the precise GPS address where Tow was requested even if he was not able to call why did HE not show up at the address. May be a procedure; so I continued to wait. Finally the person shows up and to my surprise did not get come with the Tow Truck. My tire burst and car was hanging on to the curb on the wheel. I was hoping to tow it to safety as bringing the car down form the curb risked damaging the wheel. But since there was no Tow I had to take the risk of driving my car with burst tire down from the curb risking damaging wheel. Jay's auto guy puts in the spare tire and informs me that his air filling machine is broken so he can't pump in air into the spare and that I should drive it to the nearest fuel station. Again risking the wheels. Few meters and the car collapses again as the spare tire desperately needed air . In hindsight; I wish I had full air in my spare tire but was hoping for a Tow or a functional air fill machine from the service Provider. Now I was again stranded at the road side and Mr. Jay Auto departs leaving me stranded. I am sure he had some appointment to meet as he was accompanied by his full family in the service van. None of my Business I think and I call up Mr. Jay again expressing my displeasure on the service. In response; Mr. Ru*** at Jay disconnects my phone . Knowing that a customer is stranded on the roadside for last 3 hrs for a simple TOW ; Mr. Ru*** had the audacity to disconnect and milk the desperate situation. I called back multiple times from road side and Mr Ru*** did not pick my phone. I called him back again and was told Mr. Ru*** is not there to take the call. I requested for a tow and they said the Tow would take another 40 mins. Tow did come this time and my car was finally towed after bring stranded on road side in scorching sun for 4 Hours. My gripe is not about the scorching sun or the tow took X hrs or the fact that he called up incorrect number 3 times adding to the delay . My gripe is about dispatching a pick up when a tow was requested for road side assistance. MY gripe is dispatching road side without proper gears the machine to fill air. MY gripe is about deserting me when things went south. My gripe is about is hanging up on me knowing how desperately I needed help and then not picking up multiple calls. To Err is Human; I get it !! But the callous ,rude, unprofessional behaviors' from this group needs to be called out. read more

My moms apartment complex has a rule that you need to have a parking pass for the spot that you pay for monthly or else your car will get towed. Somehow my moms pass got misplaced. I understand there are rules and rules need be followed by my issue is how jays auto handled the situation. My mom is 60 years old, a neighbor knocked on her door to let her know her car was going to be towed so she ran down to the parking lot to speak the the man. In a panic she told him she has lived there for 22 years and that is her parking spot. He told her that she could call the number on his truck to work the situation out in which she informed him that her phone was in her house. He told her to run up and get her phone and he'd wait so she could call the number. By the time she was coming back to the parking lot he was driving away with her car. He tricked her into going up to the house to get her phone so he could leave while she went, and then allowed my 60 year old mother to chase him through the parking lot screaming at him to stop. My father is dying of cancer and she is his full time caretaker and they do not have the money to get the car back so in the moment she was frantic. I called jays auto that night and spoke to a man who was very nice who informed me that if that was his mother he would be upset to, and he would see what he could do but then to our disappointment the next morning we were told rules are rules and she had to pay the 185 to get her car back. I get that it's a job but sometimes I wish I could see compassion instead of money over peoples lives. My parents who are already struggling financially, emotionally and physically had this added onto their plate and jays auto was no help to the situation. i purchased a car from Justin Pratt of Jay's Auto. He lied to me. He stated that the car had no issues what so ever and stated that the car didn't need to go through emissions. After i registered it i brought it to get the emissions done and it failed. The fuel level senor and now there are 10 other codes on. I called Jay's Auto and the lady to me to go Fuck off. If it was possible to give more than a 5 star rating I would! Words can not describe how grateful I am to have had this shop help me today. A few of my friends and I were traveling to Boston from New York when our car broke down on the side of a major highway. Triple A towed our car to Jays auto shop when it was determined the motor blew in the car! Jay and his staff helped us contact a near by dealership and determine the motor was covered under a recall of the vehicle. Something I would of never known or have even done! Ultimately we were left stranded in Connecticut- no where near our hotel or home. Jay quickly called numerous rental companies finally finding one that was open since it was later in the day and many had already closed. He then went further above and beyond for us when the rental company didn't come to us but rather wanted us to go to their location. He drove us to the rental company! To make the day worse the rental company stated they "just" closed and I needed to wait until all their paperwork was completed before I could get the rental car. At this point my frustration was at its limit. When walks in jay! He didn't just drop us off but came inside to make sure we were okay. He calmly spoke with the rental car attendant and 15 minutes later we had the rental car. Meanwhile two of my friends remained at his shop while we picked up the rental car. His staff offered them food and drinks while they waited. I have never seen such amazing service and I'm sure I would never have experienced this in New York. I was contracted with jays Auto to take care of my property's and remove cars from the property if they were not part of lease on the property. The first time I called they took the wrong car did damage to it. That at least gave it back to the owner, but then repeatedly told me they would go back to take care of the car that was the original car they should have taken. I call them everyday for two weeks spoke to everyone even the owner jay each one gave me a story for why it wasn't taken care of. They never took care of the car. I'm a business owner myself and this was the worst business arrangement I've ever had with anther business. Worst experience by far. Jay promised a friends car would be done before Christmas. Upon finally getting the car, after the date promised, there were many flaws. They were asked to swap the motor and after a drive around the block we discovered that the spark plugs were drastically incorrect. After changing those, we hoped we solved the problem but that wasn't it. The car is smoking extremely out of the exhaust and there was a stripped bolt, which we had to tap and die ourselves. We also found out there was barely any oil so we decided to do an oil change. The oil was very black and the filter was messed up. We went to Jays Auto in efforts to fix the car but after our encounter with Jay we will never be going there again. Jay immediately lost it and started to swear and yell at us, 3 TEENAGERS, as if we were the source of the problem. I would go so far to say it was verbal abuse. There were customers in the room and surely it was captured on the store cameras. Needless to say, don't go to Jays Auto unless you would like to end up fixing their mistakes. No good!!! I purchased a vehicle there not too long ago. I was told that the vehicle was good to go. I even had my wife and daughter with me at he time. I was told that he understands my situation of needing a reliable and safe vehicle. He lied right to my face. I have since put around $500 into the vehicle to replace "safety" parts that I was told were done during the inspection. I was told the brakes were replaced and they were not. Major safety issue!!! I was told the spark plugs were changed. They were not! I was told the vehicle was safe and reliable yet there is a lugnut missing off of one of the wheels. Much more I can list but I think you get the point. Nevermind the sales side the service/repair has to be just as bad considering the problems that were not fixed on this vehicle. Safe? Uh.....NO!!!! This place is unbelievable. I had my car towed here on a Thursday night expecting to have some work done on my car as I have been here before and never had any issues and wanted to try and save some money versus going to the ford dealership. My car sat for 5 days before it even got looked at. Once they looked at it they ordered the parts they needed for the work and those didn't even come on the following Friday 8 days later. I had to repeatedly call to get updates and it was nothing but a headache. I tried to save $200 coming here and in turn spent over $1000 on a rental car. I finally had my car towed over to the ford dealership after my car sat for 8 days with nothing being done. When my 60 year old mother went to pay for the work they started so I could have the car towed to ford because I work 12 hour shifts they attempted to bully her and told her she had to pay cash after I had previously paid with a credit card multiple times. They were rude unprofessional and will be losing a lot of business. I'm typically not a picky person and don't write reviews and understand that things take time but what's right is right.. They screwed me bad. My 60 hour paycheck this week will be paying for my rental car not my car repairs. Thanks jays read more

So unhappy with the service! Called 24 hours in advance to make an appointment and was told to bring my car in. Dropped the car off in the morning and while explaining the issue to Todd was told it didn't matter. I then asked when I would here from them and he told me later in the day. I called at 3:30 to find out they still hadn't looked at my car. I came to pick up my car at 5:15 and they still hadn't looked at it. I came in and Todd just handed my keys to me with no comment, so I asked if anything had been done. When he said no I asked why I was told they had said I had been told they would TRY to look at it. I asked why they didn't call and let me know they would not have time so I could make other arrangements and Todd told me he didn't have time to call the 5 customers he needed to call today. That's when I told him his bad customer service had probably just lost him those 5 customers. Definitely know he just lost my business! read more
