Three friends and I visited this spa on a Sunday morning during Miami Spa Month. It was everyone's first time there. Here are our collective pros and cons:
Pros:
The spa itself is beautiful. The décor is very Miami--light and airy, and white marble everywhere. Three out of four of us had hot stone massages and LOVED them. The fourth person had a regular massage, and she also loved it. All of our therapists were courteous, and listened to our requests (troubled areas, likes and dislikes, etc.). There are tons of amenities, from the eucalyptus infused steam room, to the co-ed indoor warm pool, the rain room was also really cool. Time at the spa is also inclusive of the trendy outdoor pools. There were plenty of towels available at all times, and the vanity was equipped with 3 blow dryers, hair gel, deodorant and hair spray. They also listed other products that were available upon request at the spa front desk (make-up remover wipes, feminine napkins, etc.). Lemon and mint infused water, tea, pretzels and fruit were available after our treatments.
Cons:
It's busy. Busy enough where we almost had to share lockers because they were all taken. Thankfully, a large group was on their way out, and they were able to accommodate each of us in our own lockers. They didn't give us a tour even after asking if it was our first time there, so we were a little lost at first. It's a plus that it's big, but we saw other areas AFTER we were showered and headed to lunch that we could have taken advantage of. Wish I would have known there were changing rooms, since the toilet room that I used to change in was disgusting (just plain dirty--clearly it had not been clean in a while)! Oh, and I had to wait in line for that toilet room--there were 4 people ahead of me. The showers were just ok. The shampoo and conditioner provided, killed our hair. We all have different kinds of hair (color treated, keratin treated, undamaged and untouched), and we all left with broomstick hair. I had to physically take some conditioner to my friend while she was in the shower because her shower room had run out. Simple fix, but what if she would have gone solo? Overall, it was messy, and the two times that I washed my hands, there were no hand towels for me to use. Since it was so busy, the common areas were not quiet and serene at all.
At the end of the day:
We had a great time anyway, and made the best of everything, so yes, we would go back, but probably not during Miami Spa Month. Here's hoping that its not that crowded, and that staff can be a bit more attentive to customers and to the common areas.
Other things we would like to mention:
Parking (valet) at the hotel with validation from the spa is $15 for the first 5 hours, and $25 after that. We did not have a pleasant experience at the valet, since we had to wait over 40 minutes even after we told the valet concierge that we had been waiting for a while. The security guards can't answer direction questions correctly. For example, we were told that the restaurant outside by the pool had an indoor and outdoor area. Its only outdoor. This would have been fine, had it not been a million degrees outside, and infested with zika. On Sundays, the menu for two of the casual restaurants change to brunch only options at a set price. The gelato at the dessert place in the hotel is fantastic. read more
