I had a very disappointing experience with Lapel Dry Cleaners, and it raised serious concerns about their professionalism, customer service, and how they handle customers' personal belongings. I dropped off several clothing items in the night drop on Tuesday evening after business hours, which was convenient and not an issue. The problems started the next day when I called to confirm they had received my items. Their phone appears to be a cell phone, and no one answered. I called twice on Wednesday and again on Thursday, with no answer and no return call. By Thursday afternoon, I went to the store in person because one of the items was my wife's dress for a wedding on Saturday. The employee could not find my clothing and had no record that my items had even been received. She explained that the dry cleaning is done offsite and told me she would call me around 4:30 p.m. after checking with the cleaning facility. That call never came. At 5:15 p.m., I returned to the store. When I asked why I had not received a callback, the employee said her manager was supposed to contact me. No one ever did. I again asked where my clothing was, and she said she still didn't know. I then asked to speak with a manager. The employee called the manager on her personal phone and put the call on speaker. The manager's response was surprisingly casual, simply saying they would "check again tomorrow." That was unacceptable. Tomorrow would be Friday, and if my wife's dress could not be located, we needed time to make other arrangements for the wedding. At that point, I was also preparing to file a claim for my missing clothing. As we discussed their intake process, I questioned how clothing dropped off overnight is tracked. Only after we walked through the process did the employee begin searching another area of the store. Eventually, she found my bag of clothing sitting in the back. None of the items had been processed or sent out for dry cleaning. They had apparently been sitting there untouched the entire time. What concerns me most is not just the mistake, but the complete lack of urgency, communication, and accountability. My calls went unanswered for two days. I never received the promised callback. No one seemed to know where my clothing was, and the manager showed little concern about the situation. Customers trust a dry cleaner with valuable and often irreplaceable personal items. That trust requires organized processes, clear communication, and respect for customers' property. Unfortunately, I experienced none of those things here. Because of the lack of professionalism, poor operational management, and disregard for my time and belongings, I will not be returning. I would leave 0 stars if that were an option, but I was told that 2 stars is more impactful. This place provided me with a HORRIBLE customer service experience. The owner, John, who I initially believed to be a man of integrity, especially considering that he is also known as a minister, completely failed to follow through on his word. My pants were not ready when I needed them for a trip. John told me that he would deliver them to my home. He never delivered them and never even called to provide an update. While I was away on my trip, I followed up with him, and he told me he would get back to me. Once again, he never did. Because my pants were not ready as promised, I was forced to purchase another pair of slacks for a wedding, which cost me $200. I provided the receipt to John and attempted to address the matter directly with him, but he has ignored my attempts to resolve the situation. This is not simply about the pants. It is about keeping your word, communicating with your customers, and taking responsibility when you fail to provide a service as promised. After being ignored and receiving no resolution, I am now being forced to pursue the matter through small claims court to seek reimbursement for the expenses and inconvenience caused by this situation. Extremely Disappointed -- Same Problems After Three Years I used to use Lapels Cleaners in Prosper and Little Elm three years ago. At the time, they offered pickup and delivery from my home in Prosper, which was very convenient. Unfortunately, there was one problem that happened repeatedly: my pants would come back without being properly creased. I would then have to get in my car and drive to their Prosper location to have the pants redone. This happened repeatedly. I would ask the clerk to check the notes on my account, and I was always told that the instructions clearly stated, "Please crease pants." I even contacted John, the owner, directly, and he repeatedly promised that the problem would be corrected. Unfortunately, it never was. After dealing with this over and over, I finally started using another dry cleaner. Although it was farther away, I felt the drive was well worth it. In more than three years of using that cleaner, I never once had to call them about a problem or return to their location because my clothes were not done correctly. About a week ago, I decided to give Lapels in Prosper another chance. Today, I picked up my order and brought it home. When I removed the protective plastic, I discovered that three of the six pairs of pants had not been creased. I couldn't believe it. They were all the same pants, color, manufacture & size. After three years away, it appears that nothing has changed. I was once again faced with the same problem I had repeatedly experienced in the past. I got back in my car to return the three pairs of pants. As I was backing out of my driveway, I happened to speak with my neighbor, and we got on the subject of Lapels. He told me that Lapels had lost his entire dry-cleaning order. According to him, they never located his clothes, did not make things right, failed to return his calls, and eventually stopped answering when he called. After hearing that, I decided I did not want to take another chance with my own clothes. Instead of returning the three pairs of pants to be redone, I went back to Lapels and asked if I could get the dry-cleaning order I had dropped off approximately 20 minutes earlier back. The clerk said yes, but as he searched through the drawstring bags one after another, he appeared visibly frustrated, making noises and shaking his head as though my request was unreasonable. He eventually found my clothes, placed them on the counter, and simply said, "Have a good day." What was missing was any indication of customer service or concern. There was no, "Is there a problem?" No, "Is there something I can do to address your concerns?" Not even, "May I ask why you have decided to take your clothes back?" There was simply zero effort to understand or address the problem. After getting home, I started reading the reviews about this location and was honestly shocked by the number of negative experiences being reported. It shows there are many others that are very disappointed with Lapels Dry Cleaners. Based on my own experience, I cannot recommend Lapels Cleaners in Prosper. I gave them another opportunity after being away for more than three years, and unfortunately, I experienced essentially the same lack of attention to detail and customer service that caused me to leave in the first place. Don't go here, they lose your clothes and don't care. First time going to this place and I should've known better because the first two customers ahead of me were complaining about missing clothes. But I gave him a try anyway because they were close to home. Sure enough they lost one of my blouses that I just bought. They keep saying they will look for it, i've been by there a number of times in the past two weeks and nobody knows anything. They gave me the number to the owner and no one answers the phone. This place is the absolute worst cleaner I have ever taken garments to and I will never be back. After they destroyed my tie, they told me that I handed them a tie that was damaged with no actual proof of that false claim. When asked to replace the tie, after failing to fix the tie three separate times, causing me to make four trips to the store, they said on the back of their receipt it states that it's not their fault for damaging my property... I chose your location for convenience instead of driving to my usual place on El Dorado, but this turned out to be a waste of both time and money. Brought my trench coat to dry clean; specifically told them to not press the bottoms because they would crack/break. Move forward to yesterday 4.3.24 when item was picked up by my husband only to notice upper button was damaged and badly glued back together and I'm guessing they didn't realize 3rd button down was also cracked because it missed it's super glue. When I brought it to the store and explained to the gentleman there his first response was "are you sure he informed us to not press it" to which i said of course, and ven if by some miracle which I know didn't happen he forgot to say it; as a dry cleaner expert you should know that pressing two buttons will cause damage. My family brings 6-8 chef jackets to clean almost on a weekly basis and do not mind the pricing; and nothing had ever happened.. but their lack of ownership baffled me and this is not rectified we will take our business elsewhere. Used this cleaner twice. Once months ago, had issues. My uniform was "cleaned" yet returned to me with double creases down the front of one leg on each pair of trousers. Both the trousers and jacket covered in lint. Was in a bind so I tried them again this week. Brought my previous issues to the guy behind the desk's attention. This shop's front window has "Alternations" posted as one of the services they offer. However I once inside, I learned that their alterations are actually done by an outside third-party. This mean that I called to set an appointment (date and time) with the seamstress at her house. I showed up on time and found that she was working with another customer and asked me if I could return later that day. I was not willing to return because I had already driven half an hour to get to her place. She then said that her fitting room was occupied by that customer and that it'd be a while before she could help me. Since I was unwilling to return at a later time, she suggested that I change in her dining room. I agreed. She pinned what needed to be taken in and old me it'd be $30. She said that she'd let me know when my dress was ready to be picked up. On the day the dress was supposed to be ready, I texted her to ask when could i go to pick it up. She told me that my dress was ready to be picked up at the Lapels Dry Cleaners in Little Elm. #1 She failed to let me know that it was ready to be picked up. I'm not sure how I would've found out. #2 She sent the dress to a different store than they one I had told her I was coming from. So I drove to the Little Elm store and my dress was not there. The attendant had to call around to find where my dress was, only to find out that the dress had been taken to the original Lapels store I had originally gone to. Forty-five minutes and many extra miles later I went to the store and the dress was there. I voiced my frustration and asked for a discount. The attendant issued a 20% discount. So instead of $30, I paid $25.98. Fortunately, my dress alterations were done satisfactorily. I requested a press only on my clothing items a week prior to pick up. Items were clearly not pressed. My clothes were more wrinkled after pick up and had stains which were not there before. Only went here to begin with because it was the only place open on a Sunday. I had a pair of shorts that needed a button sewn on and a pair of slacks the needed a clasp replaced and a button fixed. I was told they needed to send it off and it would be at least Thursday before completed. I picked them up today and they didn't even repair my slacks that were left for them. Lapels dry cleaning damaged our Downs comforter and simply claimed that they did not see any damage. I was told by the owner that they did not see any damage to the comforter. I found the two women who were working there to be very friendly and polite.I dropped off a light jacket and a turtleneck sweater and pointed out a spot that I had gotten the front of the sweater. she asked for an extra day so that they could work on it and said they would email me when my clothes were ready. In 2 days I got an email stating that my clothes are ready. I picked them up again they were very polite. I thought the price was reasonable a and they did a good job on the clothes.
