Not a large restaurant but many modern tables. You order your food on a kiosk, what I did was go to their website, place a mock order and brought my phone up to the kiosk making ordering easier. Had 7 different items and all were outstanding. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely will return again! read more

Small joint to stop by in the Kam Man complex. This place makes the soup dumplings and lots of small eats. The soup dumplings had a nice thin skin and were filled with juice. The spicy pork rice cakes were good, but really spicy. Chive pockets were standard. Overall a great place to stop by for some small eats, but come at an off time as the place is always packed and there are only a few tables! read more

If you are looking for authentic 蟹粉小笼包, this is as close as it gets without applying for a Chinese visa. This has been my go to place since I was in college, when the restaurant was then located in Highland Park. It later moved to the former Route 27 location in Edison, and now the current location on Route 1, where the number of menu items has shrunken, but the savory taste remained. The food is phenomenal, and the boss, Lao Wu, personable. As busy as the place gets, he would always make time to greet his regulars, and those who are not so familiar. My top three recommended dishes are: 蟹粉小笼，麻辣牛筋，and 辣肉葱油面。If it is the appropriate season and I have any space left, I would add on 酸菜鱼片汤. Bon appetit! read more

So glad they opened a new restaurant! I prefer this location versus the old location on Rt. 27. There's so many good things on the menu, it was hard to pick. Try to go during off-hours to avoid crowds and wait times. I went with my family around 2pm on a Sunday and didn't have to wait for a table. What I got: - Beef Scallion Pancake Wrap: If you like scallion pancakes and beef, you'll like these. - Cucumber with Scallion: My favorite side dish! These are addicting to eat. - Pan-fried Pork Buns: If you're craving something crispy and fried, try these. Very well seasoned and crisp, but still has soup inside. - Pork Soup Dumplings: A MUST! - Golden Lava Buns: This is perfect if you're craving dessert that's not too sweet (the perfect asian dessert compliment). - Lion's Head: A giant meatball! Very well seasoned The service here was good and the dining experience was made to be very fast-paced. I was able to get everything I ordered within 30 minutes of ordering. This place is my guilty pleasure. I will definitely be going back. read more

I came here twice in the last week, and ordered several dishes to try: chicken in wine sauce, sticky rice shumai, pork and veggie wonton soup, soup dumpling and pan fried buns. First of all the service was good. Not overbearing, but attentive. Food came out at a pretty fast pace. Out of everything I ordered, I really liked the sticky rice shumai and pork and veggie wonton soup. The filling shumai has tons of flavors, and has a good balance between rice and meat. The pork veggie wonton soup was made well too. Wonton has thin skin and the veggie was not tough to eat like Chinese spinach can be sometimes. The others are good too, though comparable with other Shanghainese restaurants. I took off one star because they did not have a dish I wanted both time I was there. I will just have to try again another time. read more

Pork soup dumplings are incredibly good. And I like the small shop atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Whoa this little place is extremely popular so be prepared to wait for a table. The service is efficient so the wait is not too bad. We got the shanghai pan-fried noodle, pan-fried udon with minced pork, pork steam juicy buns, pan fried pork buns, and golden lava buns. All came out quick, tasted delicious and the portion sizes were generous. They give you a menu to order from, but they do have a menu on the wall behind the counter that seems to be their most popular items. The items we ordered that were on the wall menu came out the quickest. Pan-fried udon had unique spices, the soup dumplings were the perfect texture and didn't rip when trying to pick it up, pan fried pork buns had fluffy bread and really tasty meat, and the golden lava buns was the perfect sweet to top off the meal. Prices were extremely reasonable and I can see why this place is always full. Definitely recommend, but the weekend is definitely very busy! read more

The best soup dumplings in the area. There are so many soup dumplings within just 15 mile radius, but this is one of the best and worth your $$$. The place is small. So if you have a party of 5 or more is not going to be comfortable. The food is great and price doesn't justify how good the foods are. Highly recommend the pan fried noodles and the soup in addition to their soup dumplings. However, I believe you cant go wrong with anything on their menu. Highly recommend read more

Supposedly split from Shanghai Wu's, this low-key but established spot has some indoor seating as well as takeout! The soup dumplings, drunken chicken, Floral 8 Treasures Taro pudding, Preserved Egg with a Tofu in spicy sauce, Shanghai rice balls in wine, and Shumai are extremely authentic and taste amazing. Prices are really reasonable as well. read more

This was a SPECIAL FIND! The food was authentically dee-licious and service was fast and polite..

Food is solid but the seating situation can get very tricky. I went with a party of 5 on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was packed! There is no waiting system so unfortunately we had to wait outside in the cold to get a seat, a few parties behind us actually left because of this! The server was also a bit rude, not wanting to give us a table that could comfortably seat 5. Food wise, we enjoyed the Shanghai soup dumplings with crab and scallion pancake with beef the most! Would definitely recommend trying to come with a smaller party or consider going in more off hours. There is a more "to go" style of this place not too far down the street too if wanting something quicker. read more

Informed the waiters of my peanut allergy multiple times and the chef came out and insisted that they could bring out the peanut sauce but on the side. We had to tell them no multiple times and decided they would just give us the chili oil on the wontons. We asked them to make sure there was no cross contamination, yet I still got an allergy reaction. After we told them, the waiter explained it would not have been possible for me to have an allergy reaction and the chef never came over after the food was delivered and avoided us and stared at us from the corner. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Lao Wu is an absolute gem. Pure love, soul, and joy is in each dish served. Although it's got so much hype coming from social media, and the waits may be long, it's worth each and second. Lao Wu is the best dumpling spot on the East Coast. The pure authenticity of each meal keeps me coming back almost each weekend. read more

Vegetable appetizers and dumplings were great. The dumplings and buns in particular had great wrapping (just chewy enough) and flavorful filling. Service was friendly and efficient as well - will definitely come again read more

An absolute gem hidden in a small shopping center on Route 1. The restaurant is very small, so if you have more than two people in your party, expect to wait. Luckily I waited about 10 mins for a table for two. We ordered the classic pork steam juicy buns, Shanghai pan fried pork buns and beef scallion pancakes wrap. All were absolutely delicious. The juicy buns are freshly wrapped as you can see the workers in the back actively wrapping them. As always, just be careful eating the juicy buns as they come out piping hot. read more

The noodle originally came in pale broth, which I didn't like, so they replaced with beef stew broth. The beef tendon and sirloin were stinky and was cleaned like Chinese would. The noodle was ramen noodle, which was not what I expected either! And no veggie but one little cilantro. Soup dumplings have no crab in them except one has decoration. I'm very disappointed. The waitress was very nice though. read more

Great home style cooking and extremely attentive service. Very fast turn round with food.

This small, but efficient Chinese food (specializing in soup dumplings and noodle soups) place is quite popular as there was decent line when I went. They seem to have an organized system of getting people seated and served in a timely manner without feeling too rushed. Crab meat and pork dumplings were recommended to us by a fellow customer waiting and they were so good!! read more

Flushing Shanghai style expanded into the greater metropolitan area. Let's get this out of the way. This space is small. So don't expect to throw big parties here. With that said, this would have been a 5 star experience. The staff are friendly and understand orders in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. The interior design is tastefully modern and eating surfaces are clean. The menu is refreshingly simple. Staples include the soup dumplings, pan fried buns, soup noodles and pan fried noodles. Prices are relatively fair for this day and age and are a good enough value to share family style. Noodles are made in deliciously rich sauces that are spicy, nutty or lend smokiness from the wok. MSG is hardly found here. For soup dumplings, many places get the pork right but not the she-crab filling. The crab style pork dumplings are actually good here. So go in with confidence that this place makes a hearty serving of soup dumplings. Location here is good. Right by Rt1, even if the seating is snug, you are right next to Gong Cha or Kam Man supermarket. Sam's club is not far away and the ever present Top Golf is minutes away. If American bar and grill is too plain these days, check this place out for an approachable, well portioned and great value dive into Shanghai Chinese cuisine. read more

Best dumplings in Edgewater NJ, everything is hot and fresh! Service is excellent ambiance is simple but cozy.

From a person born and raised in Shanghai, this is about as good as it gets!!!! Great food all around! Delicious!! Food comes out fast too. Even though the restaurant is pretty small, but you should always come for the food anyways. I wish I know about this place sooner. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Came here specifically for the soup dumplings. They did not disappoint. There is another restaurant in the area that has better soup dumplings, which I would rather go to. The service here was good as staff was friendly. The restaurant can get busy on the weekends so come early as the dining area is small. read more

It's a very tiny and unassuming place near Kam Man. We had to wait on line for about 45 mins. They really need to add a bench outside for those unable to stand for long periods. However, the wait was worth it. I feel like I finally found a place that has xiaolong bao that matches the taste and quality of Joe's Shanghai in NYC. I highly recommend it. But if you're claustrophobic, just order to go. Service was quick and the people are nice. read more

So, this restaurant is very similar to the Shanghaiese establishment on route 27. The only difference the father, who was main chef/cook of that establishment started a new restaurant here. Alot of the items are similar, but I personally enjoy his product more. In addition they added a little more variations that weren't from their previous store. The shop is smaller so there maybe less tables to sit, but I would definitely wait when he is around. Personally, I always enjoy their appetizers like there wine chicken and spicy marinate cucumber salad. However, what takes the prize for me has always been the soup dumplings. Wouldn't be a complete meal without them. read more

Another excellent Shanghainese restaurant in Edison area. This place is not big but provides quite authenticated Shanghainese food. We selected yellow chive spring rolls (excellent), Shanghai chicken in wine sauce (good flavor but chicken is a little bit chewy), cold seaweed (good), cold noodles with sesame sauce (ok), Shanghai pan fried U-Don (excellent), and lion's head (excellent). Furthermore, the price is very reasonable, and we would love to come back sometime in the future. read more

Food is no good at all ! Taste very plain, not delicious at all, well below average, don't know why the owners willing to take the risk of opening a restaurant with that kind of cooking skills! I don't expect this restaurant can last one year. read more

alright everyone. here is another NEW RESTAURANT THAT JUST OPENED!!! if ur a rutgers student or live in the area, you're probably familiar with the infamous Shanghai Dumpling House. but some of the other family members who own that place decided to open another soup dumpling place in the same town!!!!!! i loved it here. i'm half shanghainese so eating here reminded me of home cooked meals as well as the yummy food i had when i visited shanghai get the pan fried juicy buns or the 生煎包. the meat was chewy, the flavor of the meat was rich, and the dough on the outside was just the right amount of crispy and stretchy(?). 10/10. crab and pork soup dumplings were amazing. only thing i had an issue with was that i think they might've oversteamed the dumplings because 5/6 of them were ripped so i lost a good amt of soup when i picked them up :( but it's okay. they were amazing regardless. if you want something cold, light and refreshing to pair with the soup dumplings i highly recommend the cucumbers !!! flavor was 10/10 and they were v fresh and crunchy. this is located in the same plaza as gong cha and kam man chinese supermarket! so theres plenty of parking. space inside is a bit cramped but people come, eat and leave quickly so not too much of a wait. customer service average. inside gives off the "family restaurant in a small town in china" vibes lol. anyways if ur craving soup dumplings or authentic chinese food, highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Best soup dumplings in the area. Always so much juice inside. They also have the best lions head dish around. They have quite a variety of menu options considering their small size. My sister and stumbled upon this restaurant while out running errands. The restaurant was a bit on the smaller side so let's just say cozy. While we didn't have to wait shortly after we arrived a line did start to form. It appeared to be a family spot as many of the patrons waiting with a group of 3 or more. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and affordable. I would go back. read more

Everything here is simply delicious! If you love dumplings and noodles this place is so very good. We love the pork dumplings, the house fried noodles, and shrimp shu mai and the various buns. Friendly staff. Juicy soup dumplings. We came around 3pm and it was crowded. Wait was not long for a table. Repeat customer.

I am glad someone from work recommended this place for soup dumplings. I live in Morristown but I decided to made the trip to Edison last Friday evening when I was craving Chinese food. It was worth the longish drive. The pork soup dumplings were amazing! Super fresh and piping hot with lots of soup inside. The meat was also delicious and tasted exactly right. The pan fried pork buns were also excellent. They are larger and more filling than you would expect. The meat inside is full of flavor without tasting oily, which a lot of places fail at. Definitely recommend these two dishes. I will have to be back sometime. read more

This restaurant's food is very tasty. But the place is tiny! so at busy times you might wait for a table. My family has always felt that the wait was worthwhle. They serve simple, high carb dishes like noodle soups, nian gao (rice cakes) and various types of dumplings. They're all good! We especially love the sheng jian bao (fried round dumplings), so tasty. The cold chicken is also cooked nicely and the tea is always nice and hot :-) read more
