But here we are chilling with a glass of red wine and eating some really delicious pupu's at Pau Hana Bar located inside Foodland Farms Pearl City. First time and really impressed. Everything we eat here has a local touch to it but the highlight for us is always the Sizzling Ribeye Steak with Onions and Mushrooms served with a Butter Kabayaki Sauce. It was fire! We also had the Pan Fried Ahi Belly Chinese Style, Ika Karaage, Gojuchang Fried Chicken Wings, Ahi Poke, Shishito Peppers, Furikake Salmon Salad and the Fried Rice. Love the vibe and atmosphere here and the service is always top notch. I love how they all work together and there is always somewhere within reach if you need anything.

The bar countertops are huge in that there's more than enough space to have multiple food and drink options in front of you. Our bartender was very interesting, in doing napkin tricks and telling us of his bartending time in Vegas. A little rough around the edges, but cordial at the same time, true Vegas fashion is how I can best describe that service from him. As for the food, the calamari breading along with the salmon on the salad were both too salty for my liking. The calamari had big pieces to chew through and I was sad to see that the sauce for this dish was the same as the dressing for the salad (ginger sesame dressing). They must've ran out of the sweet chili kew-pie mayo. Nevertheless, the vibe was relaxed and lively all at the same time. I would come back to try other items on their menu.

Pork chops, lechon kawali style. Pork chops cooked perfectly. The sauce wasn't very vinegary, though.

My family was in the area to shop over at Crafts Way and I found Fooki on Yelp as a nearby food option. It had something for everyone in our group of seven: 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 4 meat eaters. The restaurant had a divy vibe, cozy and welcoming. The service was very friendly and the server was incredibly knowledgable about their menu and how what made some of their dishes stand out from what's expected. The Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries are a must! They totally reminded me of my childhood and the kind of fries I'd get at the amusement park back in Taiwan. Here's everything we ordered. We have been here several times before and this time we brought the whole gang. Although it was a Friday night, we came earlier than normal and were able to be seated immediately. All the tables were taken, but it wasn't too loud or crazy. Our service was great. I chose their Classic Beef Noodles which were great! The beef broth was flavorful. The beef slice was tender. The noodles were cooked well. Honestly, it was great. The portions could be a little better. So, from a cost-to-value perspective, that could be better. All in all, it was great.

It felt more like a neighborhood spot than a touristy restaurant, which I appreciated. We had the poke nachos, ribs, and laulau. The poke nachos were really good and probably my favorite thing we ordered. Fresh poke with crispy chips and a good mix of flavors. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and the laulau tasted homemade and comforting. Portions were solid too. Service was great the whole time. Staff was welcoming, food came out fast, and overall it was just a good experience. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Honolulu.

Took a chance any way. Server greets everyone who comes in. Too much work for only one server, hard to get taken care of. More than half the tables were full even before 5pm on a Saturday, and there's a steady take out business, too. Looked at the online menu since the server didn't bring us a menu and we were waiting, but it doesn't list the squid luau combo so we had to wait for the server to take our order. She did take care of us before the walk ins that were ordering take out, and we appreciated that. However, turned out squid luau combo wasn't listed online because they were out. Boo. So hubby and I ordered the laulau combo consisting of a nice sized laulau that was tasty, with a nice ratio of pork to leaves, very large scoop of rice, some lomi salmon that was mostly onions that were quite strong and bitter and almost no salmon, pulehu chicken, which was tasty and had a nice char, and haupia, which was good. So food was fifty/fifty. Hubby ordered a coke, which was bottled Mexican (means real cane sugar) which was yummy. They serve Mexican food so I guess they have other Mexican sodas, but I didn't bother to check the menu. We had to ask for water three times because the server was so busy. We had a lot left over since the portions are big. Not sure if we will be back, though. While the server was nice and trying hard to take care of everyone, having to wait to order (another family even came up to ask is they could order after waiting for awhile) and then having to ask for water three times is a turn off for us. Also - no squid luau where's Hawaiian food is served was a major let down for me.
