If you're missing casual Thai cuisine while getting your caffeine fix this is the place to be. The cafe is run by friendly Thai people who cares about food quality, presentation and coffee culture. For food, we ordered yen ta fo (noodles), sticky piggy burger, tom yum shrimp fried rice and mango sticky rice to share. They were all delicious and very aesthetic band the mango sticky rice is the winner. It's the perfect balance between the sweetness of the mango and the sticky rice which was dyed with sweet pea blue colour. For drinks, we ordered Thai iced tea, milk strawberry and lychee butterfly. I have yet to try their coffee fusion drinks but these drinks were a bit sweet but perfect for photos. They also sell handcrafted charms, keychains and bags made by the chef at the restaurant too. There was only one table for 4 so be sure to come by earlier so just come in pairs to grab a seat at the high tables. Food: 8/10 Drinks 7/10 (10/10 for aesthetics) Ambience 10/10

Stopped in this morning since it was right nearby our airbnb and what a wonderful choice!! The cafe is cutely decorated and is clean and comfortable. We were greeted immediately and given a handheld menu. I ordered a Thai iced coffee and a two tone sandwich while my boyfriend ordered a bbq pork sandwich. Both food items were delicious - and the coffee was even better! The Thai iced coffee was genuinely the best coffee I've had so far since being in Toronto. Plan to go back tomorrow and anytime we're in Toronto :)

Are you missing the aesthetic Nam Wan drinks from the summer markets? Fortunately, you can get the exact same drinks all year round here! Lamoon Cafe is a local Thai inspired cafe located in the Riverdale (East Chinatown) area serving classic cafe drinks such as Thai tea, cakes, and savoury food dishes. I ended up trying a main dish and a drink. Green Curry Rice ($16.50): Considering it's a cafe and not a specialized restaurant, the quality of the curry was better than I would have expected (as I often found sometimes cafe food are lacking in quality). I wish there was a bit more curry sauce since it was a bit more drier than I expected. Definitely interesting how the rice was blue, which was a unique touch. They also serve the green curry dish in spaghetti form too which is an interesting fusion. Lychee Butterfly ($6.50): Both pretty to look at and tastes good! If you're a fan of soda drinks this is a perfect drink to get as they incorporate lychee soda into the drink. I love lychee drinks so this was a nice fizzy drink alongside with a meal. I will say I did end up preferring their other drink First Kiss (milky drink) a bit more (but more because of a personal preference) however was still a good drink. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this cute cafe spot if you're in the East End of Toronto.

Oat Latte and Lavender Latte, forgot to take a photo of the food, I was too hungry & busy catching up with my friend!

This place is cute and trendy. The food was yummy, and they were very easygoing about making a dietary substitution I requested. It's one of those little Toronto gems I really enjoyed! The staff is super friendly; the seating is limited and has more of a coffee shop vibe, yet the dishes were impressive! It's a great little informal eatery and a perfect place to grab a delicious lavender latte & snack with a friend! I found parking on the street. It's too bad they can't fit more tables. We had to sit at a counter-style table, but the view was pretty, which made up for the lack of seating!

Lamoon Thai cafe is one of my fav foodie finds for this year! My partner and I were in the area for an event and just happened in on this place. The ambience feels like a peaceful cafe and not a busy restaurant which made my eating experience all the more quaint. My partner and I weren't super hungry so we shared a tom kha soup, massaman chicken curry, and Thai iced tea. It was the perfect portion for us to share. I liked that we had the option to add chicken to our soup. The soup was SO flavourful - honestly probably one of the best thai soups I've had in Toronto. Every flavour bursted at you - the lemongrass and ginger and creamy coconut milk-base all complemented each other so well. Although it can be heavy tasting so it's great to share it. The curry was delicious and I liked that we can substitute beef for curry. The curry is sweet and tangy with tamarind sauce and you can choose to have it either with rice or rice noodle. I got it with rice noodle because I already eat enough rice everyday at home lol. Finishing off with the Thai iced tea which was on the sweeter side but perfect for a sweet tooth like me. They have a bunch of other interesting menu items that I'm excited to go back to try (I'm looking at you Thai pizza). Can't wait for my next visit. :)

Like many others, we were drawn to Nam Wan's sips in a bag, but I'm glad we also tried their food! We ordered the: - Lychee Butterfly: Slightly soda-esque, not too sweet, aesthetic - Tom Kha Soup: Great for a cold day - hearty, creamy soup with punchy Thai flavours - Massaman Beef Bowl: The egg was a nice touch to this rich curry bowl - Yen Ta Fo: If you like glass noodles, this is a delicious option Wasn't able to finish everything so you do get pretty good value for the prices - I was happy with everything we ordered. The café is small but nicely decorated, and the staff were really nice. If I am in the area again, would love to try some of their other menu items.

Pandan coconut cake. Icing was amazing. Pandan sponge cake was not
    Miss Lady ..

I came to this place to check out the Thai tea cookies and Thai tea Blondie and the pandan cake. I never had pandan but as it turns out it tastes kind of like this starchy corn flavor. I had the Thai tea dessert to mention above and none of them actually tasted like Thai tea which was a disappointment. And the size of the blondie was incredibly tiny for the amount I was paying. Even though Thailand is a multi religious country, I am surprised that they don't offer halal food here. I would encourage this owner to consider offering accessible meat dish options to Muslims as this is the GTA. There was lots of seating options from indoor to outdoor, to groups, to single. Only the option for plugs was a little bit Limited. That's something they need to expand on also. Lots of instagrammable moments at this place. Green P parking located outside.

    Pandan Latte, $5.50

The word "namwan" is the Thai word for drink so their focus is on colourful drinks and lattes, different flavours. Also sell some bakery cookies. They support local Thai small businesses by reselling their baked goods. They have also significantly expanded the offerings to include hot savoury Thai food. Although there is a front entrance, during pandemic times, the side entrance is used. They allow a maximum of 4 customers at a time. There is a hand sanitizer available for customers. There are a few plexiglass barriers between the staff area and customers. We went there on 2020-12-27 while they were still in their soft opening period. The first day was 2020-12-19. We had their Pandan Latte ($5.50). It was quite delicious and rich tasting. Their cold drinks come in a bag with a zip lock at the top where you can insert your straw. They call them "Sips in a Bag". The "Namwan" drink ($7) is a Thai Iced Tea, a common favourite with many people. It was definitely delicious. The "First Kiss" drink ($7) is a beautiful 3 colour, 3 layered drink with crushed ice. The bottom red layer is Sala syrup (Thai Sala fruit - also know as Snake fruit or Salak fruit). The middle white layer is milk. The top blue layer is butterfly pea flowers extract. The Thai Tea cookie ($3.50) had a very subtle taste. The "icing" on top gave it the extra taste it needed. Of the 3 types of cookies we tried, we thought the Pandan cookies ($3.50) were the best, as in the best flavour. The Namwan Shortbread with a cashew on top looks pretty since you can get it in two different colours (but tastes the same). The taste wasn't as buttery as typical English shortbread. Hopefully it also means it doesn't have as many calories. They are sold in a little glass jar, 7-8 for $8.00. The Tom Yummy Pinza ($16) was yummy! ;) Pinza is not a pizza but more of a flatbread that is a hand kneaded crust. It is served with a Tom Yum twist. It is sweet and sour topped with shrimps, cherry tomatoes, red onions, mozzarella cheese and their signature Tom Yum spices. The spiciness was just right for 3 of us but we did find it too salty (we informed them of our feedback). All their pinzas (there are 3 types) use bread made from spelt amaranth, rice and wheat flours, fermented for 48 hours and hand formed. The Green Curry Rice Bowl ($14) (available after 11am) has rich coconut green curry with chicken, eggplant, king oyster mushrooms, fresh basil and sweat peppers, served on a bed of Thai jasmine rice garnished with dried parsley. They coloured some of the rice blue by using butterfly pea flower extract. The bowl is so colourful with light green, blue, whit, red, pink, and dark green. The Green Curry was just right. The chicken was tender. The rice was fragrant. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. All their savoury food can be customized. For example, spiciness level and leaving out certain ingredients. The staff were courteous and personable. There are 4 partners. They started 3.5 years ago as a popup at Asian food festivals. Their first permanent location was a food stall at Dundas and Bathurst, starting about 1 year ago. All previous locations concentrated on their iced drinks. They moved to this current location to establish more of a cafe, offering a greatly expanded menu. There is free WiFi. There are no customer washrooms. The cafe is wheelchair accessible via the side entrance.

Quaint seating area for your afternoon cup of joe.

Found Lamoon through Yelp looking for some post-lunch coffee and dessert. The coffee was great though the highlight was the pandan butter (bunny) cake filled with strawberry jam. It was the perfect dessert/afternoon treat, delicate pandan flavour, not too sweet, complemented by the slight tartness of the jam. The cafe had a nice seating area, quieter in the back, and patio seating on a nice sunny day. Also tried their savoury dishes (via Uber Eats) the next day as their menu was really intriguing. The tom yum shrimp pizza was surprisingly tasty (interesting flavour combo that works), and we really l enjoyed the flaky curry chicken puffs. Also got the beef massaman which was just ok; the potato was still a little tough and the beef was a little on the bland side. Overall, we would definitely be back to try out other menu options, crafted drinks and tasty treats. Recommended!

love supporting small local businesses! Heard about Lamoon from a fellow Toronto foodie and im so glad i tried it. it's situated on the east chinatown but it's worth it! a small cozy shop that's family run. ordered their thai tea, basil pork on spaghetti and mango sticky rice. we were sharing everything so it was very sweet of them to split our thai tea into 2 glasses (it was a little later in the day and we actually wanted to sleep at night haha). the basil pork spaghetti was delicious. there is a little kick in their from the chillies- but it's worth. when it comes to mango sticky rice, i asked if the coconut cream could be put on the side due to an intolerance and they were very accommodating for that too! fresh mangos and some sweet sticky rice for the qq texture, delicious!! Also got the purple yam pistachio cookie because it's so unique and it did not disappoint. i love both ingredients on their own so i could see no wrong in combining them. the cookie was soft and not too sweet! i don't frequent east chinatown as often as before, but i'm so happy to see that new small businesses are opening up and i will be back for more of Lamoon!

Thai Milk Tea and Lychee Butterfly

Located in Toronto This cafe offers drinks and snacks with Thai flavours and Toronto twist. They are most famously known for their colourful Thai teas served in cute to-go bags. We tried two of their sips in a bag drinks, the Namwan (left) and the Lychee Butterfly (right). The Namwan is a thai milk tea that was a nice dark orange colour and pretty sweet. Their thai milk tea is mixed with evaporated milk, condense milk and daily milk. We enjoyed the vanilla-like taste and how the drink wasn't too heavy. The Lychee Butterfly was so colourful! It is made of lychee & lime juice, and topped with a butterfly pea flower soda. We didn't quite enjoyed this drink as much as the other, as weren't a fan of the flavour mixed with the soda. We enjoyed visiting this spot and would return to try their snacks/food menu items. We loved their concept of sips in a bag drinks, bringing a little bit of a Thailand experience to Toronto. 7/10

2 kms East of Lahore Tikka House and Little India, this is in a quieter area of Gerrard st East. It is a super cute, beautifully decorated shop with lots of different seating options from table, to love seat to bench, to bar stool to outdoor patio seating. Lots of instagrammable moments at the shop in terms of aesthetic, including the cute way they tie twine/string around the cup so you can carry it by the string. Coming here to do some work? Some seating areas have outlets while others don't which sucked. I would encourage the management to maybe run some cords for plugs/outlets because this is a major thing ppl look for when chilling at cafes. I had the pandan drink and coconut cake. Pandan, for me, tastes like boiled corn. If you like that, try pandan. But if not, maybe go for something else. I was disappointed because the main thing I came here for was to try the Thai tea cookies. They do not taste like Thai tea at all and lacked overall flavor and sweetness, and the price for the desserts were wayyy too expensive. The size of the Thai Tea Blondie could not even fill the size of your palm yet its $5.50 and also did not taste Thai Tea. And $10 for a small slice of Pandan cake? Thumbs down. Lost some stars for these reasons. A lot of pork on the menu. Would be nice if they had some halal options. Thailand is very pluralistic and has a huge presence of Muslims, just like the GTA, and it would be great if they could add some Halal options that are prepared separate from the pork and other meat. The staff are nice. They have lots of drink options and food options made by Thai chefs. I would have liked to try the green curry vegetarian pizza. Maybe next time if I pass by. They have free wifi and take credit card. Green P street parking outside the café $2.00/1hr.

I first heard of Nam Wan at Asian food festivals( taste of Asia) pre covid times. There was always a long line for the drinks so I never got the chance to try them out until now. Their store is very cute and offers drinks, sweets and savoury food. Although a bit pricey the drinks come in large portions. I got the mango and lemonade drink. Very tasty and fresh. I will try the Thai iced tea next time.
