Really enjoy this place! It's open late and has hojicha latte. One of my favourite obsessions of late. It's always busy! So far, everything I have tried I've really enjoyed whether sweet or savoury. The crunchy eclair was light and airy with the perfect crunch for contrast. The hojicha you can customize for sweetness. Always been solid. I've been coming here for years. It's my go to cafe for pastry, it's good for catching up with friends or study session. I've tried working from this cafe twice. There's very limited outlets (I think two) so you should come early if you want to secure a spot. There's plenty of seats otherwise. Note: if you are in vpn and use the wifi, it'll keep disconnecting. The ambiance is good, it's so aesthetic there's also cute instrumentals in the background. Was craving a matcha dessert after dinner, I got the matcha and kinako sundae! It was super yum! the matcha flavour was strong, the kinako flavour was a light flavour. The toppings made it better tbh, if it was just the soft serve itself, it wouldn't have been as good. It came with mochi pieces, crunchy topping, tea jelly, rice crispes pieces. The store is pretty packed at 8PM most seats were filled and most pastries were sold out so come earlier if you want them. They seem popular as I saw a huge line at around 6:30pm too. The ambiance is a cool tone cafe with spacious seating in the back, and seats at the front of the store they had a lot seats but it was all filled up. Excellent food and drinks! I keep coming back to Bloom when I want high quality ceremonial grade matcha. You can tell by the photos that the colour of the matcha is fantastic and they really value quality of their products. They also have fantastic pastries and I regularly order the cream puffs and other snacks. Today we ordered the onigiri deal: $8.99 for 1 drink and one Onigiri snack They have many options for onigiri such as spicy salmon, spicy beef, imitation crab, etc. I would highly suggest this combo with a drink! Their drinks by themselves normally cost between $5-$7 which is a similar range to most cafes in the area. The seating and cafe is attractive and feels very welcoming. Bigger inside than it looks. I like the decor- it's bright and clean. Service was quick. Came in on a Saturday at around 4pm and it was quite busy. I ordered the hojicha latte. Came back to try their genmai sundae and it came with black sesame pudding, 2 small mochi balls, and a lot of sesame to garnish. There was a layer of rice krispies at the bottom as well to add an extra crunch and it was really tasty. One thing that I did not like were some of the crunchy bits were quite hard and caught me off guard but I guess it added more texture. Just a great mix of flavours that blend together perfectly. Found this shop inside the Upper East Food Club (a food hall that brings Asian-inspired food stalls in one space) in North York. Clean, cute atmosphere - I am sure this place is attracting many people who want to enjoy unique Asian-inspired snacks. Bloom sells mainly "Japanese" cream puffs and a few cake & daifuku mochi options. We bought: Cream Puffs (Vanilla, Matcha Jasmine) Strawberry Double Fromage Cake Crunchy Éclair (Earl Grey) Maccha Daifuku Unfortunately, they did not meet Japanese standards at all. Personally, I expect cream puffs to have a delicate balance of flakiness, lightness, and airiness. But their puffs pastry felt somewhat doughy and dense. No flakiness. Vanilla had a good light/fluffy cream but could have been better with more vanilla flavor coming forward. Jasmine puff's flavor was too strong for me, it felt as if I was eating something sprayed with Jasmine scented perfume. The cream was starchier than vanilla's, which made the puff more soggy-ish. The texture of the strawberry double fromage cake lacked smoothness/jiggly-ness. The taste itself was not bad. Macha-daifuku mochi - I was disappointed as there was no azuki (red bean paste) inside - just full of cream which made the daifuku wrapper gooey, killing its delicate fluffiness. The crunchy éclair was very good! The prices were reasonable, and the service was pleasant. But the food was not something that compels me to return to. read more

There are some larger tables at the front and back of the cafe, but most tables were smaller and fitting for 2 people. What we got: - Peach and matcha soft serve swirl - Matcha daifuku - Kinako daifuku Final Thoughts: The soft serve was not too sweet and though I wasn't sure about how the peach and matcha flavors would go together, it works! Came here again this afternoon and it didn't disappoint! I ordered the jasmine cream puff - one of my favourites. It was light, with lots of not-too-sweet cream in the middle. The daifuku was super fresh with a nice chewy mochi layer and a matcha custard cream filling. This dessert cafe used to be called Tsujiri but it has been rebranded to Bloom Cafe some time in 2019. Tsujiri still exists but Bloom Cafe concentrates on baked goods from chef Tomoyuki Rikuta who oversees all of Tsujiri's pastries. Bloom Cafe has many classic Japanese desserts but Bloom has some chef Rikuta' s creations. There are cream puffs, cake rolls, tarts, soft serve ice cream cones, ice cream floats, (colourful) parfaits, teas, espresso, cappuccino and lattes. We specifically came to try the new Bloom Sundae: Matcha Sundae $7.50 and Peach Sundae $7.75. We chose the Peach. We weren't disappointed. The soft serve ice cream was peach flavoured. There were some fresh peach pieces and a single mochi ball on top. Under the ice cream is a layer of peach jelly. The bottom layer was rice crusties. The service was really good. There is free WiFi. Their air conditioner was extremely weak. Only back part of the cafe was slightly cool but there was only one table there because of the pandemic health restrictions. The temperature outside at 7:00pm was 24C but inside it was around 28C. At this temp, it was good good for eating any item with ice cream in it, like our sundae. I found out later that the air conditioner was broken that week and they were waiting for the repairman to come. read more

Delightful yet sensible Japanese Indulgence A stroll through Yonge street's College Park area took Me by Bloom, a Japanese cream puff and coffee shop. The interior, while narrow, doesn't feel cramped - with its bright white colors, simplistic modern decor consisting of neutral colored wooden birch tables, lower barstools and an overall big room space with light jazz music in the background; très très hipster Tokyo meets Toronto ambiance! I ordered a vanilla cream puff ($3.95) and the hojichu Daifuku ($5.25). Both were ultra light and fluffy, not too sweet whatsoever and very delicious!!! The cream puff had a vanilla cream filling, not custardy like the beard papa chain variety. The Daifuku was a pleasant curiosity satisfied: a somewhat mousse-style bouncing gelatin ball with sticky rice paste base to hold everything in. It was very light and not too sweet, just the right amount of mousse filling. The Bloom menu has many other options such as matcha eclairs, cakes, blended iced drinks and soft serve sundaes ice cream. For This visit, I had a very good sampling that I decided to wash down with a flat white espresso drink which was very nicely presented and decorated in its tiny paper cup ($4.25). They have a proper hot water, brewing and manual espresso machine coffee system going - and it was apparent that they put a lot of TLC in making their matcha and authentic barista style espresso beverages. This is no Starbucks...Bloom was a very pleasant, light and sensible dessert indulgence. A Japanese sweets and coffee shop experience worth its premium price. Omg this place is sooooo good. Usually I see places with matcha soft serve, but this is the first time I see jasmine soft serve. It's not as rich as matcha, but it is just as good. It is a lighter version which is nice if you don't want something too heavy. There is a subtle muskat taste which really compliments the jasmine flavor.
