An amazing, historic inn with a tradition going back to 1740! First constructed as a stage coach stop, this establishment has weathered the storms of time and now serves as a B&B with the Old Salt Restaurant attached. President (General, ret) Dwight Eisenhower stayed here. The ambiance is soothing, peaceful and poignant. Lovely all around from the period furniture, and interior design to the landscaping. You get the impression and desire to just stay here on vacation forever. When you add a soft October day with trees near full foliage the inn takes on a timeless quality all its own. We will certainly be back soon. Mahalo for reading my review.

We liked the looks of this inn on the Internet and decided to make a reservation to stay here for one night. This is a quaint and charming inn that was built in 1740 and is still family owned and operated. We had called to see if we could check in early, and they said they would call us if that was possible. We were driving in from New Durham. They, in fact, did call, and we were able to check in early. When we arrived at the Inn, we were warmly greeted by Maureen. Our room was decorated in the colonial style highlighting the charm of that time, but offering us all the modern conveniences. We had free Wi-Fi, a private bath with a tub, hair dryer, ironing board, digital cable television (with more channels than we could watch in our short stay), individual climate control with air conditioning, alarm clock radios, in-room telephones, refrigerator, microwave, dehumidifier, room service, etc. Maureen very kindly suggested moving our car around so that we could easily walk to our room with our luggage. The room was comfortable. We could hear the TV in the next room, but once the a/c kicked on, it was quiet again. We slept very well. The next morning, we went to the Old Salt restaurant for a continental, cold buffet breakfast. They had freshly brewed decaf and regular coffee plus an assortment of teas. On the buffet, there was an assortment of cold cereals, yogurts, fresh baked goods, fresh fruit cocktail, fresh apples, bagels, toast, jams, cream cheese, butter, hard boiled eggs, and orange juice. It was just the perfect start to our travel day home. We enjoyed our stay at the Lamie's Inn.

Now this is a doggie bag!

Historical charm near all the beaches. Perfect. I was desperately trying to find a place to stay 4th of July week that would welcome our four legged kids. We stopped in for dinner one night and asked about availability and pets. No problem! I booked our week right away. Then I had to adjust our reservation a few days before our stay. No problem! I also needed to check in late. No problem! The BIG problem. While they claim to be pet friendly, it's misleading. Their policy is that pets can't be left unattended. We were not told this when we made reservations IN PERSON. So, if you're a couple on vacation you can forget actually going out together unless you can find and pay extra for doggy daycare. Good luck if you're visiting on a holiday or have plans in the evening, NONE are open. This isn't reasonable at all. Don't walk them anywhere near the building either, that's a no no. I had walked them in an open area out back, but there is no no receptacle for waste except right next to the building entrance which is where I was informed that I shouldn't walk them near the building. Put a receptacle in the dog walking area then. We got the impression that dogs are tolerated, but not particularly welcome. We've stayed in many upscale and tourist class hotels with our dogs and have never experienced anything like this. They should just not allow pets or have a block of pet rooms together so pets and their people can stay worry free. It's ok for babies to cry, kids to screech, but oh my god if a dog barks for a few minutes you're the worst guest ever apparently. Our dinner at The Old Salt was interrupted because our dogs barked "for 5 minutes and then stopped". They stopped, it wasn't late, but I had to abandon my dinner that I had paid for. So, we were forced to cut our well deserved vacation short or just sit in our room the whole time. When I informed the desk that we'd have to do this, the woman informed me that she had seen all the notes from the night before in a "you're the dog people" tone. The rooms are colonial in style and very comfortable. Yet with modern conveniences such as a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, TV with plenty of cable channels, and free wi-fi. Spacious closet, large and well appointed bathroom, air conditioning, excellent water pressure, and a comfy bed with nice linens. Laundry service, vending machines, and ice are all available. They also have a 24 hour desk. Another review mentioned parking. Really, there is plenty. The inn and restaurant are popular with travelers and locals. You might not always be able to get a spot that you're personally happy with, but there is plenty of parking and the longest walk isn't bad at all. The manager sent us a form e-mail asking for feedback about our stay and we responded to it and let her know we were not happy at all. No response. I'm sorry, but if you ask for feedback you should have enough courtesy to respond when it's given. Especially if a guest was unhappy with their stay. We've since written to the owner and are waiting for a response. I'll update this if I get one. UPDATE: It's NOVEMBER and we never heard from anybody at Lamie's about our thoroughly unpleasant stay. We contacted them on Facebook and lodged a formal complaint with the BBB. Nothing. Very poor way to run a business, especially one in the hospitality industry.

I had to leave a message and got a call back 2 days later. I was excited to book a cottage for August of 2026 for our family vacation and paid the deposit. The next day I received an email that my reservation was canceled and deposit returned. I called to find out what happened and was told that Erica, the assistant manager would get back to me the next day. Less than an hour later I got an email from Erica saying that my reservation was booked by mistake and that the cottages were promised to other people by previous ownership and that they could only rent to us if someone canceled. What a terrible way to run a business! If those cottages weren't available then why weren't they marked as already reserved? Why send out an email to book now if there is nothing left to book? Why take my money in good faith when what I booked wasn't available? When I finally got a phone call back, she was rude and completely condescending about their mistake. My family was planning this vacation from out of state, what if we had already purchased plane tickets? There was no compassion about a mistake made on their end, only anger that I called her out on it. I don't know if I could trust that they would actually honor any reservation made. Tread carefully!

Even better, you're adjacent to the Casino Ballroom. It was cool to check out the tour buses arriving as we walked to breakfast. We stayed here for a show and it was convenient to be so close. Every interaction with the staff was helpful and pleasant - phone calls to in person! The price is on par with other spots in the area but here you get a parking spot, pool, and everything is clean and new. Over $550 for two nights is still outrageous, but that is life in 2022. Comfortable bed alert!! Both my husband and I had very restful sleeps (I'm a stomach sleeper and slept awesome!) The rooms were just was we needed although it would have been nice to have a small table and chairs in the room. There's a perfect space by the window in the room for that. 2 night minimum stay...so we made a beach weekend out of our concert night. We left saying, "if we ever come back let's stay here again".

The rooms are evidently undergoing some renovations; however, I don't think there is anyway to renovate this to today's expectations and standards. The heating and cooling unit is loud enough that if you are trying to watch TV you have to turn the volume up when it kicks in and down when it cycles down. The floor had a downhill tilt (not as noticeable in shoes but definitely if you are barefoot). A laminate wood floor has been added as an "update" at sometime, which would have been the time to level up the slope. The ceiling and areas around the heat/air unit all have crazy gaps and need better trim work. Let's talk ventilation and insulation. I swear the ducts just connect one room to another. We listened to the kids next door carrying on till after 11 and the parents evidently didn't care about other guests and the running up and down the halls and hollering during other times was like they were in our room with us. Our room was over the function room and I think the music was louder in our room than it was when we had been downstairs. The advertised "shared microwave" is just one in the lobby, not even one on each floor by the ice machines. We attended a function on Saturday night in the banquet hall. The serving staff was great and were hustling their butt's off. The food was a giant hit or miss!! Those who had pre-ordered the grilled sirloin had the home run meal. The rest of us struck out. The chicken was pounded so thin that it was dry all the way through except for a silver dollar sized area, those who got the ravioli found them to be under stuffed and lacked any kind of sauce so were also dry. If that wasn't bad enough everything was luke warm, but because I was hungry I ate the broccoli and penne . The salds were good, veggies were crispy. Dressing was spotty on some of them and well dressed on others. For the outrageous meal price for events, I am sure we will not be back. When we checked out there was no " how was your stay inquiry from staff, just a "there are no charges so you are all set"

Upon arrival, The floor was dirty (see photo), the tissue holder in the bathroom was rusty, and the baseboards were both dirty and covered with hair (see photos). The bathroom was stocked with no extra toilet paper or tissues, and the bath towels provided were tiny and felt more like hand towels than bath towels. The bedding wasn't much better - I found dirty pillow cases when I checked in. In terms of amenities, the room lacked the basics I'd expect from a hotel in this price range. There was no information about restaurants, hotel hours, or amenities provided in the room, and no phone or safe available. Service was also hit or miss. The valet consistently took around 15 minutes to bring the car, which is a long wait when you're trying to get somewhere. On top of that, I had requested feather-free (hypoallergenic) pillows and comforter, but it took two attempts and over an hour and a half after check-in to finally get it resolved. Overall, the hotel has potential because of its beachfront location, but the lack of cleanliness, poor room setup, and slow service made for a very frustrating experience. I expected much better for the price and would not stay here again unless significant improvements are made. When we brought our concerns up (again) upon check out they did wave the parking and resort fee's but we will not be returning... Perhaps the name should change to Trashworth.... Very disappointing

Must have been a drug party going on by the last occupant? The bed was made when I checked in, but how can housekeeping miss the drugs in the bedside table AND inside the bathroom?? Also, the dark, woodgrain laminate floor was disgustingly DIRTY! My guess is they just sweep only, and hardly if ever, actually wash the floor. I asked the front office if they could do a quick wash of the floor, but they never showed up. Don't make the mistake of walking barefoot on the floor with wet feet, and if you are wearing socks, the bottom of them will turn black quickly. The cold water knob in the shower was frozen shut, and it couldn't turn, only leaving the hot water knob usable, making the shower unusable onless you like scalding water. I asked the front desk if someone could look at it, but nobody showed up. Also, don't try sitting in their cheap plastic patio chairs outside the room, unless you have good health insurance.
