Recently, we planned a weekend to Hampton Beach and many hotels/motels were already booked up since July is the peak season. We ended up booking a 2 night stay at the Moulton Hotel, located along Ocean Blvd at A St for aound $190 per night which included one queen bed, TV, AC, and bathroom. One parking space was assigned to us at a nearby small lot. Those stairs are soooo steep upon entering the hotel up to the lobby (there's an electric chair for the handicapped which goes up the railing). We were given a very small room on the second floor with more steep stairs to climb. We paid over $200 a night for this tiny dump (around $412 for two nights with tax), crammed with only one queen bed, 19" TV, dresser, a small closet, a small bathroom with shower and a balcony overlooking the fabulous view of A St and all of the powerlines a few feet from the railing (we could see the beach looking right down A St). Dude, we are getting another small bed and that's that. So my buddy goes downstairs and tells the management another guy is staying, so they gave us a small bed for the room. It was hot up in the room, so we turned on the AC which is in the closet facing inward and not out into the room, so the room really never got cool until night time. We did enjoy a small breeze on the balcony. The glass shower door wouldn't close all the way so we had to use extra towels. We did get good night's sleep, probably after the long days at the beach and short nights of going to bars. In the morning, there was free Dunkin Donuts and coffee in the lobby. Overall, the room was very small, old, and overpriced, but it's a touristy area and rooms are at a premium in Hampton Beach in the summer. NOTE: The Town of Hampton has a 1:00AM curfew, and the Police will kick everybody off the street at that time and tell them to get back to their hotels or leave the area. This hotel locks their doors no later than 1:30AM, so if you're late, it would be SOL. read more

I would give this hotel 0 stars if I could. My friend and I were really looking forward to a fun getaway across from the ocean. We book a two night stay through Priceline. Today my friend receive an email (attached below)that there was something wrong with the card we provided. She called to fix the problem. The man who answered the phone right away started yelling at my friend and told her he was trying to get in touch for days and that he gave our room away. He then said that if we wanted to stay there he had another room available for more money. I honestly cannot get over his tone with my friend and the unprofessional way he handled the call. My friend was absolutely shocked at the way he talked to her. As you can see in the email below. We had 24 hours to get in contact from when the email was sent. She called right away. You just have to know what you are getting into with this property. This is not the place for a relaxing beach getaway, which is what I was looking for. It´s right in the middle of the action, loud drunk people walking through the streets, right past your windows, basically and if anything like last night, kids constantly shooting off fireworks and loud music playing. The rooms are in no way equipped to blot out any of the noise. Plus, there were some folks staying at the hotel that were extremely loud and yelling and screaming throughout the night, I wasńt able to get to sleep until around 3 in the morning given all of the noise and screaming from within the hotel and a fight that broke out outside on the street with cops being called to do whatever......but even after eventually falling asleep there were repeated outbursts from the other guests several times over the next few hours. I got no sleep! I was miserable the whole time, just absolutely completely the opposite of relaxing. It was the most stressful night I have had to endure in a long time. The room is no prize either, the water never really got hot in the shower, it did get warm, but not hot and the room is very cramped and run down as is the whole place. The parking is in a very cramped little lot where it´s nearly impossible to get in and out of without hitting other cars. SO very stressful!!! I was soooo dissatisfied with this property that I had a reservation for two nights, but left on the morning after the first night, I didńt even get to check out per se, there was no one at the front desk, so I just left the key on the counter and got the hell out of there!!!!! This place made me so miserable I left fully knowing that I would be charged for two nights and had to make a reservation at a different place at the last minute at great cost, so I am literally paying for two different rooms for this evening and it is sooooo worth it! Again, just know what you are getting yourself into, this was not the place for me, but might be for younger folks who are all about partying all night and being loud and obnoxious. First, this is a hotel for the young, because you start your adventure climbing a very steep set of stairs(16). The place is so outdated, and narrow, getting checked in is a hassle, having the parking explained is the start of this nightmare. You park around the corner, in a very tight parking spot. Then up another flight of stairs, My room was smaller than any room I've ever had, even on a cruise ship. The floor was slanted, the sliding door to the balcony, didn't lock, because of the slant. The room...trying to squeeze between the refrigerator-microwave and the bureau, hip check. Then the bathroom, you have to climb over the toilet, to get into the phonebooth shower. Check your bill also, this place likes to add a charge to your final bill. My final bill was $832, but looking later I see a $33 charge as a administrative charge. Oh, PS, don't plan on sleeping late, the street sweeper's come by around 6am, that's after the motorcycle's stop around 1am. You were warned. read more

First arrived at hotel.. stood around for 10 minutes and no one at the front desk.. young woman comes down the stairs I said hi... and then she went to coffee area.. hung out some more and then looked at the woman and said I'm sorry I thought you worked here... she said nothing and then I waiting a little longer then rang the bell at the desk ( I hate doing that) then the woman " I thought worked there" got on her phone and sis there's a customer here.. very creepy vibe.. then a woman came and I said my husband is outside waiting to park, do you know where? she just said something about not parking here or there, you'll get a ticket but wasn't clear. I went outside and my husband was irritated because j didn't have a clear answer on parking.. went back and forth a couple times and finally I said.. is there parking for this hotel? she said ahh yes and asked some questions and gave me a parking permit and told me where to park.. that should have been a given when checking in. then we park and thank goodness for my husband because it was very tight and maybe 6 spots...then we are in the room and it's outdated bathroom was small. I barely got in the nook and my husband was taller than the shower. slept awful.. Will not return.. paid 250 and I feel robbed. read more

Perfect location, friendly staff. Could use a bit of tlc maintenance but pretty clean and very comfortable beds, nice pillows, continental breakfast with bagels and pastries. Would definitely stay here again which says a lot because I am a traveler! read more

I am giving this place 3 stars bc the guy at the front desk was super nice recently stayed there and had a decent time definitely time to update and fix some things the screen for both windows where broken and under the beds haven't been cleaned since January of 2003. it looks like the jacuzzi tub was nice but full of black water deposit very bare bones place with very cramped quarters but for the 95 bucks a night it was good great location on the boardwalk read more

This hotel was an absolute dump. We were given a parking pass for a lot that was 4 blocks from the hotel. The bathroom sink was inside the bedroom and the bathroom was tiny. Wi-fi was sketchy...we got a signal a few minutes each day. Other hotel guests were smoking weed so the hotel smelled awful. Our room was on the 3rd bloor, no elevator and steep steps. Their "continental breakfast" was a pastry, cereal and coffee. It was the worst place I have ever stayed. DON'T BOOK here! read more

I booked a room through Hotels.com and had been told that I had until June 25 at 6 p.m. to cancel penalty free. I called the hotel to do so on June 25 @ 3:00 pm and the owner was, from my point of view, rude. He said I had to call Expedia (although I used Hotels.com?) I called Hotels.com at 5 pm and they told me that, yes, I could cancel wirh no penalty. However, come to find out, four days prior the owner took the money from my account and refuses to refund me and told the same to Hotels.com. All I can say is that I would not patronize a place like this that engages in bad business practices! read more

My fiancé and I booked a room for two nights at the Moulton Hotel August 25-27th. Our total for the stay was $285. All was well at first with our room, except immediately upon entering there was a small bug by the couch wich we assumed was a baby cockroach. We also noticed small dark stains on the pillow on the right hand side of the bed. We continued our day and went to bed. During the night my fiancé put his hand under the pillow and felt something move. After waking up, I got out of bed and saw a dead bug and a blood stain directly under where I slept. It was a bedbug, and we checked the bed and saw another bed bug crawling on the pillow. We went to the front desk and told them to change our room and they did. Right after, we went to the beach and found two bed bugs in our beach towel, which was in an open bag over night in the hotel room. Knowing that they got into our stuff, we went back to the room, removed everything from their bags and shook them out. We talked to the front desk and let them know we were uncomfortable staying there, especially considering it is our anniversary and we are celebrating by sitting in a room making sure we don't carry the bed bug infestation home. The front desk then got ahold of the owner, who felt it was best that we leave, and rudely and unprofessionally blamed my fiancé and I for the presence of the bugs, declaring that his establishment has never had a problem. According to Yelp, the Moulton Hotel had a bed bug problem in 2010. The owner, David Maleh, degraded and belittled us, saying we were the issue. This is unacceptable and this business needs to be looked into. The BBB has been notified. Two weeks later, I relieved an email from the Better Business Bureau stating that the owner neglected to respond to their letter regarding my complaint and furthermore had received an 'F' rating through the BBB. Complete dump. Absolutely disgusting, total joke. Was entirely different than the pictures online. Owner was a total jerk as well, worst customer service. The AC was broken, the shower was a broom closet that my fiance literally didnt fit it, and we had to walk sideways between the dresser and fridge to even get to the bed. They advertised that the rooms came with a fridge, when in reality the fridge was so close the the dresser, it barely opened half way. Dont bother with this place. Save yourself the frustration and somewhere else. read more

Don't stay there. It was filthy. There was a sanitary band across the toilet to make it look like it had been cleaned. It was dirty inside as well as along the rim inside. The lady at the desk did have the maid come back but obviously if she was the one that pulled the fake cleaning to begin with we weren't too thrilled and we were totally grossed out from that point on. (She gave us a bottle of Yellowtail white wine as a nice gesture but even a bottle of Dom Perignon wouldn't have made up for the condition in that bathroom) When we opened the curtain the windowsill looked as if it had never ever been cleaned. For what it cost and the conditions it was ridiculous and I had not read the comments until it was too late. I don't usually give reviews but I have to say something because this was the dirtiest place I've ever stayed. I will make sure I do from now on before booking again in a place like Hampton Beach. This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. First, upon arrival, they had charged my CC for 2 nites, stating it was a 2 day minimum. This was not mentioned to me on the phone when I booked and clearly stated when I was arriving and when I was leaving. So, in a pinch, I had to pay more for the one nite than originally agreed upon. Alot of money, NOT alot of value. The room was disgusting, an ac unit that was stuck on one speed, a fridge with a freezer un usable due to frost build up. Old beat up furniture, and a tv mounted on a wall not facing the bed without a swing out mount. Bathroom did not have a plug for hairdryer,etc.. NO screens on windows. Management poorly trained or they just did not care. Never again. read more

They don't have a pool but the beach is right across the street. We were informed to be the first guest to use the new sheets and mattress in the room. Nothing like a brand new hotel room! Our room had a hot tub and a view of the sun deck outside. We tanned on the sun deck one night and the other night on the beach. The nightlife is really pumping around all night. The breakfast was good with cereal, fruit, bagels, and make your own waffles. read more

We stayed at The Moulton Hotel recently and the place needs to be gutted and redone. I am not one to complain about little things but this place was nasty. The rooms were filthy. The back of the bathroom door had so much dust, it looked like mold. Maybe it was? Next to my bed, there was a red substance on the wall, I think it was jelly. The a/c unit had inches of dust on it. Makes for good breathing! My mother takes her grand kids to the beach every summer and the ocean was why we stayed there. But from the moment we walked in and observed the filthy desk area we were disappointed. There is a free breakfast but honestly I could never eat there after seeing all the filth! The toaster has never been cleaned. Nothing in that place has ever been properly cleaned. They have a nice balcony on the front to enjoy and the furniture looks like it came from the nearest landfill. The girl at the front desk was super nice and very friendly and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was not cheap either! One more thing, they say free Wifi in the rooms but that wasn't true. You could only get online outside the rooms. read more

This place was absolutely terrible!!! This is the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in in my entire life!! We were first charged for 3 nights when we were only staying 2!! We were told that we would have a queen bed and a twin bed unfortunately when we opened up the door to our tiny room we only had a full bed and a twin bed with not much room to blow up our air mattress that we brought so the two kids could sleep on the air mattress. Needless to say we were very cramped!!!! The shower has a red stain in it and the refrigerator had a chocolate stain in it!! The place was very dirty. It's also a smoking hotel so all of the smoke came into our bedroom and through our air conditioner because of the main balcony!!!! I have asthma in this situation just made it that much worse. Unfortunately we could not get our money back after our first horrible night. I would suggest staying anywhere else in Hampton Beach except for this hotel!! Oh yes and they also shut our TV off at 7 o'clock in the morning when Our check out time is 11 o'clock!!! I only have this a 1 star because I had to in order to write the review!!!! read more

If it was possible to give this place less than one star I would. We had reservations for an oceanfront room with two queen size beds. When we finally got our room it was an ocean view with a double bed and a small couch. I am traveling with my husband and son who is 6' 3". There was no way we could even possibly fit in the room. We had to get our $$ back and find a new place to stay at the very last minute. The owner said when I booked the hotel was full so he put me where they could??? What??? Why tell me the room is available for the size and type room I was looking for if the room wasn't available. Very weird. I was glad we could leave...the hotel was dirty and very run down. I didn't even want to sit on the furniture in the lobby. The place gave me the willies. Also, the parking situation is a joke. They give you a pass to park your car in a remote lot about a mile and a half away from the hotel. Not very convenient. My advise is to stay clear of this place!!! read more

I made a reservation almost a week in advance for a weekend getaway. Oceanfront, two queen beds! Well, we arrived and was told they made a mistake in booking and our oceanfront room was not available. Terrible feeling when you travel with children over two hours away from home and you find out they over booked and you have no room. They tried very hard to justify what they did. Was given a credit for future use. Which I will not use. Why on earth would I book again and take another chance of being told my reserved room isn't available? I made the reservation directly with the hotel, paid $229 per night and ended up with no room. Seems to me they overbook and the last one to arrive is SOL. Never again. Ruined our weekend. read more

Hello, we just returned from our girls weekend at hampton beach! I traveled with my girl friends and our Daughters. From the Moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice by booking our very needed weekend away. There family atmosphere made us feel so very welcome. I have never experienced such a wonderfull & fun enviorment at a hotel ever, and we travel alot. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel and we will definitely be returning. We were thinking of having the whole family next year, but we really enjoyed the girl time. Our room was very spacious & clean and we loved our patio. there was seven of us all together and we were all very comfortable. Getting plenty of towels and blankets and pillows were no problem at all, they were always there for us. It really felt like we were visiting with our friends and family. We had alot of luggage when we checked in and the guys helped us unload all of our heavy luggage off the roof , in the rain and when we left they helped us... well they put it all back up for us, I think if we had done it ourselves it would have ended up on the highway. ha ha I really can't say enough about this family owned hotel. I know that I will never even consider staying anywhere else when we visit Hampton Beach. Our searching is over. We have found a new place to start a new tradition! Do not stay here! The owner of this hotel charged my credit card without my approval or signature. When brought to his attention, he told me that he would not refund my money. He told me that we booked the room for 5 nights when really I booked it for 4. He insisted that I must have over booked by accident (I'm pretty competent and have booked many other vacations properly) and he would not refund our money even though we left when we scheduled ourselves to leave. He had an arrogant and dismissive attitude. The room was awful! At $250 a night I expected a lot more. The room stunk like poop and mildew- we never found the source- and the balcony was about 12 inches wide. The beds were awful, the towels were scratchy, the dog in the room next to us in this no pets allowed hotel was barking all the time. The bathroom was falling apart as we used it. We stayed after the "renovation" by the way. The free breakfast / coffee was a joke. Just all around this hotel was terrrible. I could go on, but I need to call Judge Judy now and see if she can get me back the money they stole from me. Hampton Beach is perfect for a family vacation if you stay elsewhere. read more
