Just got back from a 4 day vacation here at Mail Sail on Hampton Beach. We never stayed here…read morebefore and are very happy we did! We were greeted by the sweetest dog and were up to our room within a few minutes. Our room was super spacious and very, VERY clean. The staff here is very helpful and just want you to enjoy your stay. They're not cleaning rooms due to Covid.. BUT, rest assure anything you need is just a phone call away. We got new towels and an extra blanket within minutes. The pool is super clean and lots of room. We're going to head back for another weekend if we can this Summer if not.. We're staying a week next year in a cottage!

My family has been coming to the mainsail for 25+ years. We took the last 2 years off and came back…read morethis year with the new ownership. We were disgusted in the conditions. We stayed in one of the cottages for a week.Completely filthy. Stick on earrings, hair, and hair ties in the pullout couch. The floors left feet/ socks black within seconds of walking around. Bathroom smelt and looked like a sani can. Despite the conditions we cleaned and we tried to carry on. The worst part was ERIKA at the front desk. ONE MISERABLE HUMAN who should not be involved in any sort of customer service. She should get a job where she doesn't have to interact with people. The second day went to the office to mention we have 7 guests and only received 4 towels. Her response was immediately defensive and said we only get one towel per person for the week. I said ok did not know that was one of the new rules so going forward we will each ONLY have one towel. But we only had 4. I said we are not trying to take your towels. She flipped out and tried to ask us to leave and then had the nerve to say "this is how you act in front of your kids?!" All I asked for was towels. Did not curse, did not raise my voice. I left the office and never returned the rest of the vacation. Spoke to the management company and sounds like she has been a problem. Yet still works there and represents the Mainsail. She was rude, disrespectful, and creeped us out when she mentioned she could "look at The cameras to see how many towels we had" Also there is a laminated cottage rules sign in the cottage that states you leave your soiled towels out on the deck and they will be replaced. It's very said how the conditions went so downhill and the front desk ERIKA was so horrible. After going to the mainsail as a kid and now brining my own kids there we now will never return. One last thing! We left to go to Maine for the day and she gave our parking spot away! Luckily our other family left early because of the conditions and we parked in their spot. Didn't dare enter the office again!

Well, I fail to comprehend what was renovated: the electrical outlets wouldn't hold my charger (it literally fell right out of the outlet), everything was old and outdated, the lock to our room was loose, bathroom racks were rusted, cigarette burns on the tub, etc.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Ships Inn was serious enough that other…read moretravelers should be aware. During our stay, we discovered what appeared to be teeth wrapped in a blood-stained tissue left in our room by a previous guest. It was hidden near the window and had clearly been missed during housekeeping. We immediately notified hotel staff, who removed the item. The hotel later acknowledged in writing that the item had been left by the previous occupants and that it was overlooked because a new housekeeping employee in training had cleaned the room. While I appreciate that they accepted responsibility, they never answered our repeated question about what the material actually was. To this day, we still do not know whether it was human teeth, animal remains, or something else. Given its appearance and the presence of what looked like blood, we remain concerned about whether we were exposed to a biological hazard. Equally disappointing was the hotel's response. Their only compensation offer was a "buy one night, get one free" future stay. In other words, to receive compensation, we would have to spend more money at a hotel where we experienced a significant sanitation issue. After what happened, we have no interest in returning. We attempted to resolve the matter privately through multiple emails, asking for an explanation of what was found and requesting a more appropriate resolution. Unfortunately, after their initial response, the hotel stopped communicating with us. Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how they are handled. In this case, we were left without answers about a potential health concern and without what we believe was an appropriate effort to make things right. I hope the hotel has improved its inspection and housekeeping procedures so that no future guest has a similar experience.
