On a recent visit to this shop I had the terrible experience of witnessing both the clerk and owner verbally abusing a regular, loyal and elderly customer. A CUSTOMER, ABUSED, LOUDLY and IN PUBLIC. And this was not just a brief reprimand but it went on and on. I was shocked and offended as were the (few) other customers. As this poor unfortunate soul learned, one must never make the mistake of bringing in a beverage not purchased from Lamb Shoppe's less than stellar "coffee bar"! She left in a daze and nearly in tears. It was like a nightmare or a scene from a Seinfeld episode...the Soup (or in this case, yarn) Nazi. But it was not funny. I will not go back to this shop, though it is beautifully "dressed". Fancy fronts do not make up for lack of respect and horrific "customer service". Frosting on the cake...after having spent on that day ( before the above mentioned episode) considerable $$$ on yarn etc, I received within a couple of hours an email telling me a sale was starting the next day meaning that everything I had just purchased full price would then be 20% off. Would it have been too much to let me know this a couple of hours earlier? Oh well, there are lots of customers out there, right? I'm sure this shop will do just fine without my patronage. read more

I find it frustrating that, in reading reviews, they run so hot and cold! Which do you believe??? I live in Arvada and the two yarn shops nearest to me have closed (Shower of Flowers and Recycled Lamb.) I am a beginning knitter and wanted to start making Knitted Knockers. They (Knitted Knockers) require specific yarns so I made the trek to the Lamb Shoppe, had a pleasant customer service experience, and left for home to teach myself how to knit with smaller yarn and smaller double-pointed needles. That effort didn't turn out so well so I called the Lamb Shoppe to ask about a tutoring session. After a week, I hadn't heard from anyone so called back. Whitney apologized that I hadn't received a return call and we scheduled a tutoring session for a few days later. I met with Whitney and she was incredibly supportive, helpful and pleasant. Even though the shop is so far away from my house (it took me an hour to get home after tutoring session) I do think I will start going to the shop to knit and kibitz with other knitters - I'll update this review after a few visits. read more

Went there today to browse for yarn for a sweater and with a little help I found just the right yarn. My favorite shop in Denver. All the yarn, books, and notions you could ever want, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always some knitters sitting at a table talking, often classes going on. read more

This shop is pretty amazing. It's easy to see why they've won awards. It IS over whelming, because Oh. My. God there is a lot of yarn to choose from and it is all amazingly beautiful. Just couldn't walk out without spending a paycheck. However, I walked in and was instantly greeted by a smiling, very friendly woman who showed me around the shop. I will be back, for sure. read more

Gorgeous yarn, good selections, a nice experience...when you get the right salesperson. The only thing holding back the rating is the disgusted look I get when I ask dumb questions of the staff! How can I become a better knitter if I can't get some help? I went in once when Mai was there and bought a fortune in yarn and patterns, and had a blast! Then next time I was there I was met by a frosty woman who fired questions at me about gauge and weight and then left me to fend for myself. I might be a hat, scarf and sock girl, but I still love to knit and would love to be pointed toward the shallow end of the pool. 5 stars for Mai and the yarn! read more

Shockingly rude staff member by the name of Sandy. Beware: if you need any kind of assistance, don't ask the staff. They refused to help look up a pattern, help take measurements, or discuss the project we were interested in making. My mother, who is an experienced knitter and has been in many shops, said she has never experienced such poor treatment in a knitting shop. My mother (who lives in VA) searched for a shop in Denver (where I live) because she wanted help with measurements for a sweater that she hoped to make for me. We left in tears and felt crushed in our endeavor because they were actually mean to us! After recovering from the terrible experience, we decided not to give up, but we will never return to this shop. read more

I love this store! From the welcoming large table for knitters to the thoughtful staff and outstanding collection of yarns I wouldn't miss coming into the store when I'm in Denver visiting my daughter and her family. It's a gem! Jeanie read more

Lovely, lovely yarns pleasingly displayed. The staff are really helpful if you need advice on which yarn to use or how to work through a problem with your project. read more

Horrendous customer service. Every time I've been there or called on the phone I have left angry. They are rude, provide one word answers, and don't offer to help their customers at all. Too entitled to help someone find a good Christmas present apparently. read more

A colleague and I took the #10 bus out of the downtown area to this spot. I honestly never knew yarn stores existed like this. With giant cozy chairs and tables for sharing projects and a coffee shop, this place felt like the Yarns and Noble of knitting!! Walls and walls of shelves of yarn. They had ladders to reach the higher shelves. It definitely wasn't enough to overwhelm. Just enough to make you feel like you want to buy everything and a latte :) I only bought a skein of this cool tweedy yarn - Mushishi by Plymouth (I was on a budget) but I could've easily bought four sock yarns (amazing color selection) and a few skeins of this sweet merino wool. I'm working on self-control, here, people. If I could clone that place and plot in somewhwere, anywhere! in Eastern PA I think I would be there all the time. read more

I love this store! The women who work there are so nice and helpful. They've been willing to help me with my project as many times as I come in. They really work to make sure that I understand what I am doing with my projects as well. They also have a wonderful selection of yarn. They sell coffee and tea and encourage you to come in and knit all day. It is a great place to spend the entire day! read more

This store has been my savior. LOL. I have horrible ADHD and OCD and needed a hobby to help occupy my time and mind. I took a beginners crochet class from Sandi and found a hobby and friend. The staff at this store is always willing to help when I am stuck on a project and offers great guidance. The selection is great and I love going and hanging out with other crochet and knitting individuals. Definitely check this place out and if you need to take a class, take it with Sandi. read more

What a great yarn store. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We ordered hot beverages to drink while I shopped and one worker even made sure my husband was comfortable while he waited on me to shop around. The reason I deducted a star is for the organization around the store. I'm not talking about the one girl pricing skeins in the back, I'm talking about the large bins of unorganized yarn. I had a hard time finding matching skeins due to the set up of a few brands in the store. Overall, this is a great place to go and get yarn, tools, and a cup of coffee or tea. read more

I really, really want to like this place more than I do. The store itself is larger than other LYSs, which is nice. Things are also neat and organized, a stark contrast to places like I Love Knitting, which is a veritable minefield of baskets and balls and generally not a fun place to be. The selection of yarns is beautiful, with everything from wool workhorse yarns to lavishly expensive hand-dyed, multi-fiber hanks. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that in some instances they charge up to DOUBLE the going rate for certain yarns, when compared to online ordering or even other brick and mortar stores! You end up paying $12+ for a $7 hank. The level of service, once I actually got someone's attention, was okay. But getting ahold of someone before they start yapping with a coworker is really hard. And again, they seem to think they can use their good reputation to gouge the customer. Additionally, the coffee/tea shop that everyone raves about was, in my experience, below the mark. They served me one of the worst, most bitter cups of tea that I've ever had in my life. It probably would have been better if they hadn't kept it behind the counter to steep for 10+ minutes (and it was WHITE tea) while they yakked and chatted and shouted back and forth about stock. read more

lamb shoppe is the premier supplier for the *actual* fiber artist. huge, comprehensively stocked, friendly and warm; complete with coffee, space to sit down and simply craft for a while, notions, books, tools, advice, and frequently the company of other local crafters. staff are cheery, knowledgeable, and take a hands-off approach. after seeing this place, you'll never want to go anywhere else for supplies. read more

I have taken other knitting classes and felt completely lost. Sandy made it so simple and laid back I think I actually enjoy knitting and I signed up for more classes. All the ladies that work there including the owner are so down to earth and helpful . I will recommend to all of my friends! read more

One of my favorite places! So this will at long last be my very first yelp. Lamb Shoppe is a beautiful space in a cute neighborhood. If you love yarn, you need to stop by--you'll be in heaven. I'm still a newish knitter and need help undoing my mistakes, and several different Lamb Shoppe employees have helped me; they've always been able to undo my mistakes really quickly, without making me feel bad. Lamb Shoppe always seems to have a class that I want to take. So far, I've taken classes with Mary Carol and Mai Wynn. Mary Carol is so much fun and really great at remembering her students. Mai Wynn is also a fun, patient teacher and designs fantastic patterns. I haven't taken classes from anyone else yet, but plan on it. read more

I wish I was accomplished enough as a knitter to fully appreciate all of the inventory and instruction available at this store. Someday! Mary Carol is a fantastic instructor and I absolutely love what we made in the Learner's Permit ti Knit class. They carry Lantern Moon, which I love because it is made by a co-op for women. I can see how other reviewers were frustrated at the service and not knowing who worked there and who was just there knitting. From the standpoint of someone in a class during store hours, I was appreciative that any of the women working would come over to help, not just Mary Carol. In reality, I'm sure that meant it took time away from customers who were just there shopping. Please know that these women are not sitting and sipping lattes instead of helping their customers. If you are not being helped it might be because some newby like me is hogging their attention. read more

Let me get this out of the way first: I do not knit. I know it may seem weird for me to be reviewing a yarn shop, but even though I don't knit, I've been here a number of times! My mother-in-law lives in Seattle, but insists we take her to the Lamb Shoppe every time she's in town because she loves this place so much! It's thanks to her that I've had many opportunities to wander the aisles, check out the amazing selection of yarns, and meet the friendly and helpful staff. In fact, just about each time I walk in here I'm convinced I need to take a few of their classes to start up the hobby! There's always a table full of ladies creating beautiful things from some fabulous yarns, and who knows, maybe someday I'll be one of them. Until then, I still enjoy the calm and beautiful ambiance of this cute little shop every time I visit. read more

When I first went into this store, it was chock full of people. I thought to myself, "Wow, this place must really be something." After one of the staff members greeted me, I found out that it was a "spa day" for their customers with free 5-minute massages and pedicures. I spent about an hour perusing the store which had a nice selection of neatly organized yarn. They had lots of staples (Cascade, Lamb's Pride in just about every color, Malabrigo) as well as more luxurious yarns. They also have a good selection of needles--including lots of my favorites, Addi Turbo Lace, in stock. Rounding out the store were a nice selection fo books and magazines, some yarn-friendly detergent at the counter, and (!) coffee. The store has quite high ceilings and plenty of nice, bright lighting (natural and artificial). There are plenty of places to sit and knit and lots of finished objects to provide inspiration. While I didn't need any instruction or help on a project when I went in there, I got the feeling that any number of staff or customers would be willing to help me. When I checked out, the lady helping me (Mary Carol, I believe) was very friendly, and another staff member promptly offered to wind my yarn. Mary Carol also made me a tasty hazelnut latte...ahh, coffee and yarn--two of my favorite things in one place! Located in a pretty neighborhood with a nice selection of yarn a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, this place really is something. read more

I guess I'm old enough that I ask if I need help and I understand that I may have to wait a little if the staff is busy with other customers. The LS is a beautiful, no pressure to buy, welcoming place. The yarns, books, patterns and samples are inspiring and the staff is very knowledgeable. That is some of what makes the store so successful and yes, its success may slow down response time. Go when you have time to peruse and appreciate. read more

I've been going to the Lamb Shoppe almost since the shop opened. The shop reminds me of a candy shop except it's yarn. The first thing you notice is the overwhelming variety of yarns in all the colors. This place is warm and welcoming. The staff is always helpful. Although I am an experienced knitter, I am challenged in selecting the right yarns. The staff has always been helpful in gaging the right fiber and amount of yarn need for my project. read more

The Lamb Shoppe is truly the best, most beautiful yarn shop I have ever visited, and I have been a knitter for 50 years. Mary Carol, Anita, Glenda and the rest of the crew are knowledgeable, friendly, fun and so enthusiastic about knitting - their passion and skill really shine in their classes. I took my first class almost two years ago - the Great American Aran Afghan class - initially promoted to be a year-long class that really stretched into 18 months or more for many - but these ladies never lost their patience when helping any of us with our very ambitious projects. As Anita predicted - we are now all substantially better knitters as a result of hanging in there! And, here's the kicker - the class didn't cost a dime, even though we met every other week for well over a year for two hours for instruction. Maybe they aren't the cheapest place in town, but guess what folks - fantastic service counts for a lot. It is a very busy shop, regardless of when you visit - be patient - someone very knowledgeable and skilled will be with you momentarily. I can't say enough about the Lamb Shoppe or the staff! Just an amazing store with tons of beautiful yarns, patterns upon patterns upon patterns, exciting classes and events happening all the time, fantastic staff - I love this place! read more

Love this place! Had my first experience this past Monday and will definitely make my way to the east side of the city to go again. The woman that helped myself, my MIL and her sister was so accommodating, especially while juggling many other guests in her store. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Before we knew it 2 and a half hours had gone by as we enjoyed chatting with the regulars about their projects, shuffling through beautiful fibers and admiring the samples throughout the store. This place is a real treat for anyone who is addicted to fibers and knitting. read more

I was at this shop for the first time during the yarn crawl in August. They are a medium sized shop with a huge selection. I could have looked in there forever! It was a little messy but not overly so. I felt it took the lady working a while to warm up to me and be friendly. But she was nice to me in the end. It's in a cute area and I would definitely give them another visit. read more

I visited this store for the first time during Yarn Along the Rockies. Lamb Shoppe definitely has the feel of a boutique upscale yarn store. Their selection is large and the store is clean, organized and inviting. Most popular yarn brands are carried. I really didn't see anything here I hadn't seen before, but the store itself is very nice and the prices were competitive as far as I could tell. I had very little interaction with the owner/staff as the store was crawling with other Yarn Along the Rockies goers, but it was obvious that they had many repeat customers and took time to acknowledge them. I was a little afraid of the parking (the store being located in downtown Denver and all), but the parking was abundant along the street and other side streets of this quiet neighborhood. No meter parking. read more

I LOVE the Lamb Shoppe! I have been a constant customer for 4 years ever since I learned to knit. The beginners class is perfect and I've been taking classes ever since. The entire team is wonderful! Mary Carol (the owner) is a creative genius and a great teacher (she even taught my son to knit)! Annie is amazing at teaching the more advanced techniques and got me over the hump from beginner to an actual confident knitter! Whitney can fix any mistake and continues to helps me take on more and more complex and fun projects! They sell diverse and gorgeous yarn that I can't find anywhere else! Support your local yarn shop and stop by or take a class! You won't be disappointed! read more

I have purchased probably $400 dollars of yarn in the shop in the last two years, not a frequent customer, but drive across town to purchase my items from this store. In the past they were always very helpful and friendly. Just today I experienced the worst employee whose name was SANDY. She was so rude I will never go back, please don't support a store that hires such a rude staff member! read more

I have spent hundreds of dollars in this store on a class, wool and needles. Not one penny more will go to them thanks to my dismal experience there today. I was ready to spend over $100 on a project, and could not get even 5 minutes of assistance. There was one person at the register who could not have cared less about helping me, and another in the back room, not helping at all. As you can tell, I am steaming mad that I have ever spent money in this store. Needless to say I walked out without purchasing anything, to a flippant "sorry" from the unhelpful person. Ugh. What a waste of my time and energy. I had to give it one star or Yelp wouldn't let me proceed, but they are a zero star in my book. read more

Not recommended, pretty terrible attitudes. Apparently other people have had other experiences, however, I will not be back. When the craft store closest to me did not have the supply I needed, they called Lamb Shoppe where it was in stock. Drove over right away. Looked like a great store, but I was completely ignored (not even greeted). Finally found what I was looking for in the very poorly labeled/organized store, brought it to the counter and could not find anyone to ring me up. When the lady behind the counter saw what I was buying (Size US0 8" circs) she immediately discouraged me from buying them. Since that was the whole reason I was in the store to start with, I didn't know what to do. She went on to say that she does her socks with [totally different technique than I use] and that the needles I wanted hurt her hands. She offered no further solutions or suggestions and since that was literally the only reason I was there, I left without purchasing anything at all. I guess they're not losing much by not having me as a customer since I didn't buy anything anyway, but this was a really poor experience for me. read more

is it so very hard to greet your (ex)customers when they enter? oh, I'm sorry they have soooo much to discuss with each other...I've said this before, but I'll say it again...I will not go into lambshoppe ever again!!! how does this place stay open? read more

Wow, awful service. All 3 employees ignored me even though I stood patiently waiting at the counter. One announced she had to leave in 5 minutes and walked away. The other took off saying to the air (neither ever looked at me) that she had to find a pattern for a customer. Huh. Guess they already have all of the customers they need so I wont be back. read more

I must have been wearing my invisible outfit today. No greeting, no "may we help you" ? Nothing. Just in Denver for sons Lacrosse tourney. Like to yarn crawl wherever I am. I also typically buy from wherever I am. Nice store. Good yarn, book and pattern selection. But a simple "looking for anything special" ? might have been nice. I am still not sure who were employees and who were customers. Lousy first impression. read more

I cannot believe how rude the people who run this shop are... I would love to love this place. It's close to my house, it has a great feel and has tons of yarn (even if it is expensive). It's the kind of place I'd like to hunker down in with a coffee and knit on a snowy day but, I never would because of how incredibly rude the employees are. I asked about classes and this lady acts like I'm an idiot because I didn't know the class list was online. She acted as if I was interrupting her and every question i had was stupid. I'm new to the Denver area and was interested in finding a local friendly place to purchase supplies and take classes.
