Easily the most fun yarn shop around. They truly have everything you need plus all the adorable extras you didn't plan on buying but somehow can't leave without. What really makes it special is the people. Everyone who works there is so kind and genuinely helpful. I've brought in projects after making mistakes I had no clue how to fix, and they've walked me through it without making me feel silly. Their new location is larger and brighter, but still in the dame shopping complex at the other end. I mist have missed this during previous trips, but in addition to yarn and fiber, they have weaving supplies as well. Cones of Gist 3/2 organic, American cotton. I left for home with a couple of cones to get going on some placemats. Loved that they have Blue Sky Fibers Amble yarn as well. I likely will get more of that wonderful yarn for my next pair 'One Sock' I make. after I finish my current pair. I was just over the moon with all of the very nice products they carry. This is a very nice yarn store and they offer classes for both crochet and knitting. My granddaughter and I are both learning to crochet and Alla is giving us wonderful instruction. I am a yarnaholic and like to collect more than I actually use but, that's another story.... Piney Creek came up as a near me recommendation while I was waiting for a friend to have a dental procedure done so, of course, I had to make a beeline to a new yarn shop I had never been to! The front sign simply says Yarn so, you really can't make it easier to find ;-) I walked in and was quickly greeted by one of the owners and made to feel welcome right away. The shop is quite inviting with the layout of patterns/books, yarn, a work table for classes and lessons in the back, and yarn on top of yarn! The variety of available yarns cannot be overlooked - there truly is something for everyone and every type of project. There is also a very nice selection of roving for spinning, spinning wheels and tools, and of course, all of the knitting/crochet supplies and notions you need. While I do not live close to this area, I will find reason to come back and stop in for sure. It is so nice to find a shop like this with friendly people and familiar customers who come in (I did witness while I was there) and I like to support local, small businesses such as this. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area for a relaxing and enjoyable visit where you will leave feeling like a regular and, I suspect, you will be remembered if you go back. read more

Definitely My LYS! Amanda and Glenda are great resources for techniques, yarn selection, knitting-supply selection. Not to mention the camaraderie of the owners and other knitters during open knits, shopping or just chit-chat. They have also gladly ordered yarn and other supplies any time I've asked. Also a great birthday-month discount. :D The atmosphere is always pleasant, the store is neatly organized and clean, and I am very comfortable always. There is a large table in the back where you can come in and work of a project and the staff will provide advice when you get stuck. We like to stop here while we are traveling in the area to pick up some new ideas and see the latest in yarns. What a wonderful local yarn shop. Such friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. Always helpful, willing to work with knitters and people who crochet. They can fix your mistakes, and teach you how to fix it yourself. The selection of yarn gets better every week. There is plenty to choose from, but not overwhelmingly so. Staff can assist you in picking the correct weight and type of yarn for your project. Very accommodating for beginners. Their open knit times are ideal, as other women there are open to helping each other. Love the frogs in the back of the store...yes, real frogs in a glass aquarium. The store is always very clean, and lots of samples of knit and crochet items as examples of yarn and projects one might have interest in creating. Decent selection of instruction booklets as well, and an entire file of patterns. They will even print off Raverly patterns for you from your account on nice card stock. As of this r view, they've only been open a bit over a year...I can just image me how great they will become. Nice to have a yarn shop with good quality yarns close to Aurora and Parker...no more driving across town, everything one needs is right here! Plenty of parking too! read more

What I like most about this place is the area in the back so people can knit or crochet together. The selection of yarns is average, many nice yarns with luxurious fibers. But I love fine, alpaca with a lot of color and this shop lacks that. There is also not a lot of needles to choose from, though the drift wood knit and crochet sets are beautiful. The cashier was super nice and accommodating. Really no complaints with regards to customer service. I certainly didn't feel pressured to buy anything, but maybe that's due to the Yarn Along the Rockies. Ultimately, if I lived in the area I would come here, but it isn't worth the trip beyond the yarn crawl. See y'all next year! read more

I'm teaching myself to knit and stopped at Piney Creek to purchase knitting needles and other accessories. It also gave me a chance to see the different yarns and textures. This is a nice small store. The staff was cordial but I didn't find her helpful. I told her I was teaching myself to knit and what I was looking for and she pointed me in the direction for those items. I was hoping for a bit of help but she seemed in a hurry to get back to her friends. As I was checking out I told her I was thinking of making a beanie for my first project and asked what kind of yarn to use. She told me to pick a pattern first but that was all the help I got. Would have helped to suggest a pattern for beginners and help me pick out the materials I need. Any help at all would have been nice. This is probably a great store for the experienced knitter but not so much for a beginner. read more

I just finished taking a class on wheel spinning here with Anne. Oh my goodness, it was so great. I left the class spinning better than I could possibly have expected and the class was so fun. It's not easy to find, but it's definitely worth finding! At last, a yarn store in the Aurora area! Lovely yarns including Manos and Ella Rae and Juniper Farms. They are still setting up and putting things out, but they already have a great area for kids to draw while mom shops - definitely a life saver. Absolutely a fantastic yarn shop. I was greeted warmly when I entered the store and immediately felt at home. The selection of yarns includes all price points...there is something for everyone.
