She explained that they also have classes for crafts like jewelry making & candle making. It's something I'm interested in exploring further. She let me know that Angie owned the shop and there were challenges when the pandemic hit. I'm so heartbroken that so many small businesses were adversely impacted. As I was reaching the location I could see the gourds lined up on the field. I was greeted by a friendly staff member. After informing the staff what I was in need for a gourd she pulled out a clip board with a order form. When I walked out the door I was in awe of the amount of gourds that were available! I was the only one there so it was nice to have the space and take my time looking. After selecting about 8 and was able to break it down to two that I liked the employee filled out the form. She inspected for any weak spots since she knew I would be using it as an instrument. I grabbed a tool that is used to clean out the inside of a gourd. It is a wand like with a ball covered in pieces of crystals to break up the membrane inside of the gourd once attached to your drill. I took a look around the gift shop and was intrigued by the beautiful work that can be done on gourds. They also carry an assortment of stains and dyes. Also drill bits and burning tools. Upon entering, I was not greeted at all. An employee at the front looked at me, and just kept going about her business. I stood next to her, trying to locate the item, and not once did she even ask if I needed help. I was annoyed at that point, and continued looking for the item. I found it and asked the employee at the front if they could cancel my order. Long story short, there is a big disconnect between online orders and the actual store. Sometimes they do not get notified of any online orders. I was told the online order system is inefficient and not like what you would expect when ordering online to store pickup items at big retail stores. They managed to pull my online order, so I didn't need to call customer service to have them cancel my online order. I will say that the 3 women at the registers who helped me were very nice and did not get annoyed about the situation. They were very engaging and I really appreciated their help. One of the employees, Vicky, is truly an angel. She walked with me towards the exit, and then stopped to show me books they sell, where you can record your voice and pass the book on to loved ones. She really got me thinking about how I take for granted the fact that I still have my loved ones. She wasn't trying to sell me the item, but she only brought it up because she has recently lost a loved one. Her story was very touching. Overall, the store was very clean and organized. Yes, I had a bad experience with that one rude employee who didn't acknowledge my existence or help me, but the help I received from the other ladies had made up for it.

She goes on to say the lines have been crazy and people line-up everywhere they can't figure out where the line starts, like children and they are dealing with ADULTS... that they need to TEACH ADULTS TO BE ADULTS ..... and it went on. I was in awe... looked around and those waiting in line pretended they didn't hear anything, a man walked out, others around me ignored her and a lady next to me and I just stared at each other and said we couldn't believe she was expressing that way loudly about the customers and no one told her to "shut up." Other employees just listened and 2 engaged but with a very low voice. Now I was done within 5 minutes, got in line right next to the sign that read "line starts here" and a cashier was looking around to see who was next and called in a lady that was looking for the line - now the customer saw me waiting and apologized, I said "no problem" but did point to the sign to the cashier. I wouldn't have been petty if she (cashier) hadn't been one of the employees that engaged with the one complaining earlier.

Luckily, I had mentioned that I didn't have clay because they were about to charge me the $40 anyway. First of all, why do they not sell clay when their name is literally "Temecula Clay"?! More importantly, please educate your employees on whether or not you sell clay, because I used to buy clay there a few years ago. I drove there TWO TIMES and wasn't able to use the wheel or work with clay at all. Just sell me the clay? Especially when the closest place to buy it is an hour away. Summer, our instructor was kind, patient and extremely helpful. She would teach us step by step what to do with the clay and then go to each student in the class and help them individually. I know personally that my "coffee mug" would have looked terrible without her expert help. My son did everything on his own with a little help with Summer and made two pieces. (I only made my coffee mug) We will continue to go there again and again. When I got home, I enthusiastically told my husband that I had found a new hobby! Thank you Summer! Thank you Temecula Clay!
