overall I thought the food was good, portions were huge, and prices were reasonable. The restaurant itself is pretty simple -- don't expect a fancy dining environment -- but the food is definitely the main point here. We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

Place is always swamped- Food is always amazing- has a decent dinning area and even on busy days you wont need reservations! Their service is really reliable and efficient. Loved their Biryani and karahi- the ambiance is very legit. One of the really good pakistani spots in NYC/NJ area

Ordered: Aloo Papri Chaat (~$9) Gol Gappay (~$9) White Chicken Karahi (~$31): chicken curry stir-fried in karahi with white cream, yogurt, and spiced with roasted cumin and coriander seeds Plain Basmati Rice (~$7) Plain Tandoori Roti (~$3) Kashmiri Chai (~$4) Aya's take: This cold weather has me craving curries & spices more than ever before so we stopped at Lahore for a quick lunch. Lahore is a Pakistani restaurant which is honestly not common to come across (compared to Indian restaurants). The interior is nicely decorated and we were seated immediately. We got 2 appetizers, Aloo Papri Chaat and Gol Gappay. The Aloo Papri Chaat was cold, loaded with textures and flavors, and even some slight sweetness. It was enjoyable but not sure I would gravitate to this again. The Gol Gappay was beautifully presented with a similar flavor profile to the Aloo Papri Chaat. It's great for sharing and more of a playful appetizer. I've never had Karahi before and although maybe not the traditional version, we opted for the White Chicken Karahi. It was mild, savory and creamy. It took ~30 minutes to prepare as the menu states and they don't skimp out on the chicken. For the price point, I would say the portion is reasonable. The chicken was tender, buttery, and aromatic. My only complaint is that it wasn't served with anything so we had to add some Basmati Rice and Tandoori Roti on our own dime. I think it should come with at least one complimentary side dish considering it's an entree. We ended with a Kashmiri Chai. It's a pink-hued tea that actually gets its color from the chemical reaction between the green tea & baking soda. All this time, I thought it was rose! It was garnished with pistachios and had hints of cardamom and cinnamon spices which I enjoyed. Good try overall!

I went to this restaurant for dinner! When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a cute restaurant. I sat and was served by Nafeese and he was nice. I had: Strawberry Mojito Peshawar Shinwari Karahi chicken in Tomato curry Chili naan Matka gosh lamb and gravy Goat Pulao basmati rice I liked the chicken dish. The lamb was good just a little fatty and needed a tad salt. All in all it was a good experience!

Lahore Restaurant in Secaucus, NJ. I got to try some of the most authentic Pakistani food in New Jersey! Lahore has all of all the classic Pakistani dishes all made with the freshest ingredients. Service is fast! You must try GOL GAPPAY- it's a fun and delish Pakistani street food and you must end the meal with authentic chai and GULAB JAMUN! MANGO LASSI GOL GAPPAY SAMOSA CHAAT LAMB KEBAB CHICKEN MAKHNI HANDI-Mildly spiced chicken in a creamy tomato sauce with butter, garnished with fresh cream. CHICKEN KARAHI-Popular Lahori style curry with ripen tomatoey base, stir fried in Karahi with spices, finished with fresh cilantro and slivers of ginger. Spice level - medium to spicy. GARLIC NAAN CHAI GULAB JAMUN

Give me an order of the matka gosht (lamb) and an order of the naan and I'm SET. A very memorable dish that makes me want to live a little closer so that I could be eating here more often. Finish the meal with kashmiri chai and I'm content for the weekend. Sooo good.

The androon sheher of Lahore is famous primarily for two things: first the tragic tale of Anarkali, and second its vibrant food scene, which tends to lean fairly vegetarian thanks in part to its pre-partition establishment. To have a taste of these flavors, one must go in reverse and instead leave the walls of New York City to reach Lahore's location in Secaucus. On weekends you'll find a vibrant spread of all you can drink Kashmiri chai, amazing aloo and plain paranthas, and of course chole, halva and puris to form the classic Pakistani weekend breakfast. This was one of my most memorable meals in recent memory. The freshness of the garm-garm parathas paired with some plain curd while Kun Faaya Kun played in the background - aur kya kehne ka hai!

Ok hear me out- they have a lot of Indian restaurants in JC (not too far away from Secaucus) however, how many places have a Pakistani restaurant? Parking was easier than Jersey City, the portion sizes were massive, and the service was on point! You know the food is good when there's wait to get a table! The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I do wish the place was a tad bigger but I was left a happy customer. Highly recommend to order the goat and lamb chops!

Chicken Haleem and Chicken Seekh Kabab
Asma A.

Lahore Restaurant has some of the best (and only) Pakistani food in North Jersey outside someone's home. That said, I've found the Haleem to be inconsistent. The pulses are not always ground to the same consistency and at times it is much spicier than other times. The chicken Karahi is popular and blew my friend's mind. The chicken seekh kabobs were delicious though not very tender. The naan is excellent. The atmosphere inside is quite hectic. I'd like to add that Pakistani food is not Indian food. If you expect your stew to come with a side of rice, it won't. That's not how it is traditionally eaten. You should buy a side of naan, and not dock points because you want the cuisine to be different to suit your tastes. Secondly, this food is spicy. It is very spicy. If you don't want to eat spicy food, then this place is not for you. "Too spicy" for you doesn't mean the food is made incorrectly -- you're just not at the right place for you, and that's okay. However, it is unfair to come into a Pakistani restaurant and expect the food to be less spicy or just like food from another South Asian country.

Aloo Papri Chaat

Lahore restaurant had everything right for the perfect five star experience, but they fell short when it came to service. I went with my family and we had made reservations, but despite of that, we still had to wait another 20 to 30 minutes for our seats At first, They sat us at a table which was too small for our party. After placing our drink orders, we told them to relocate us to a bigger table as there would have been no room to place all the food. We ordered the following items. Aloo Papri chaat 4.5/5 very vibrant and flavorful. Garlic naans 5/5. Damn good. Bursting of that garlic aroma. Mix Grill 5/5 combo of different meats. Grilled to perfection. Chapli kabob. 4/5. It was good. I was expecting beef, not chicken. Havent really tried chicken chapli. Chicken Karhai. 4.5/5 another very nicely presented item and it tasted very good. Excellent combo of seasoning. Gulab Jaman with ice cream. My family enjoyed it. I would visit them again, but they have to improve on their service. the interior is small from inside, especially for the demand that they handle

What a disappointment our take-out food was when my team and I ordered $200 worth of food. I ordered the Chicken Palak. I was shocked to find out it doesn't come with rice. It's just an oily spinach 5-piece chicken stew for $17. I cannot believe for $17, I don't actually get a full meal. I would have to spend an additional $6 for rice. I just cannot justify paying $23. Luckily, I did buy garlic naan for $3.50. But the palak was oily, it did not go well with the naan. This was a one-time thing. I don't see myself ordering from here again. My co-workers felt the same. The majority of my co-workers found their food to be too spicy. I would suggest the owner have spice level. Lastly, the food was not on time. We had to wait 45 minutes more from our pickup time. Be ready to pay the meter.

This is one of the best Pakistani restaurants I've had in my life (: the food was all great quality and made fresh! I wish definitely be back!

Chicken Malai Boti

One of our regular restaurants which never ever disappoints. We travel from far just to enjoy Lahores authentic Pakistani food. Typically we order the kebabs, seekh kebab, chapli kebab and malai kebabs are our go to. If we are in the mood for something fancy we get the goat Karahi or the chicken karahi. A little bit on the oily side, but that IS how it's supposed to be. We also loved the masala fries, the Halden and recently tried the Sajji Pulav which is a whole chicken marinated and roasted, presented on a bed of aromatic rice. Portion sizes are big. You can either order online or place an order on the phone for pick up. They are nice to give us estimated time. The place is clean and welcoming and you know the food is good because there's always a wait time. Service is great and ambience is simple.

Thankfully the Halal Joint has a much saner gameplan - being open and having (enough) inventory. The restaurant is small, bright, clean. The guy behind the counter was friendly. And the food has a lot of pop - the falafel was crispy, crunchy and packed with flavor and those Cajun fries (weird that they only offered seasoned French fries) were mighty delicious as well. Everything being fried isn't the best option for someone in my age-bracket but it sure was tasty. Portion sizes were legit. Pricing was decent. Parking... welp, you can't win 'em all.

I know there's a million Halal spots popping up, and I will admit I'm very, very picky when it comes to platters. I miss the good ol' days on 53rd street in NYC... I came by around 10pm and was served quickly by a friendly employee. They have platters, burgers, wraps, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc. I ordered the chicken rice platter (~$13.50). They cook the meat fresh on the grill and then you choose your toppings at the salad bar (olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). It's a bit pricier than other places, but the portion size is huge. The container felt HEAVY lol. It's just a shame it went to waste because I really didn't enjoy the food. I only finished about half of it before I tossed the rest. The white sauce was almost flavorless and was VERY watery. The chicken wasn't as well-seasoned. No distinct spices or aroma. Every bite left me with a very greasy and salty taste in my mouth. The side salad was just okay. I was disappointed. The only saving grace was the rice... it was fluffy and the best part of the whole platter. Not sure if I came on an off night or...? Don't let my review stop you from trying. It might just not be the Halal spot for me.

So naturally, had to check it out again this time and try it again. I don't know what it is, but well seasoned meat with their crispy fries just works. The original German doner kebab with the mixed beef and chicken was incredible. It was juicy, perfectly seasoned meat with that signature vertical spit char, loaded into their soft, flavorful handmade waffle-style bread. Every bite was a hit. Also ordered the chicken doner box with fries. The fries were very crispy and seasoned well and the chicken was just as I remembered it. A flavor bonanza. Rich, aromatic, and very delicious What was really the highlight was the sauces though. The garlic sauce was creamy and addictive, and the spicy one had just the right kick without overpowering everything. Portions are solid for the price. Everything felt fresh and hot, and the staff was super friendly and quick even during a busy mall rush. If you're at the American Dream or craving quality halal doner, this is the move. Way better than your average kebab spot. This is premium. Will definitely be back for the crispy doner rolls and maybe the Doner Burger next time.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal.
