This is the first time I've ever tried a crepe Mille cake, and I'm very interested in the concept. Lady M is definitely upper scale at about 9-10 USD per slice. Even the big bakery chains sell things like pineapple buns for around HK$7-9. But this bakery falls into the category of being even more ridiculously cheap. They have a lot of buns here like pineapple and cocktail buns. Some sell for as low as HK$2 which is basically for a quarter in American dollars. Though most buns cost around HK$3 and they are quite huge. While the taste of the buns are not out of this world, they are pretty decent. Comparable to the buns I buy in Seattle that cost up to 5 times that price. I did also see other baked goods here like bread and egg tarts. Given the prices, it was not a surprise that there were plenty of customers getting their fill of treats here. If you are looking for cheap Chinese baked goods, check out Cherry Bakery Cake Shop.

There aren't many dessert options in this part of TST, which makes Owl's Choux an easy destination for post meal treats or a cool down option from the treacherous summer heat. Two things that don't work in favor for Owl's Choux is the price and the fact they sell gelato. In Chinese, "雪糕" or "冰淇淋" is the only way to describe gelato, but is in fact the same word for ice cream, which gets confusing. This is where the price point becomes tricky, as the gelato is handmade. That's right, not imported or store bought, but handmade at home by the owner, Mr. Ricky Chin. For all the sleepness nights Ricky has put into the business, it's quite clear presentation and quality matter above all other things. Dessert fiends, take note. The chouxs themselves don't disappoint. At $58 for a scoop between the choux, one might flinch at the price, but after a bite of their red velvet choux, I was actually semi-stuffed. I'm all for variety, so be sure to indulge on samples before committing to the real thing. If we're talking gelato exclusively, I appreciate the hazelnut / praline + cinnamon crumble the most. In fact I could just eat those two and life would be grand. Lastly, the service has always been my cup of tea. They're generally overly polite and good with dealing with the influx of random crowds that come here.
