I'm a New Yorker, so maybe take my review with a grain of salt. We have 3 Laduree locations in New York City and I have also been to Laduree's all over - Paris, Lisbon, Barcelona, Miami. I walked in around 3pm on a Saturday and they were sold out of most of their macaron flavors. I think they had about 4-5 left and they wouldn't be getting any more until Tuesday. This is probably the first time I've ever run into this situation where a Laduree has run out of stock. From the first look even outside the window, this place makes me feel so fancy and like i was in France. The aesthetic of the place so different from many other place I usually go to. The service was exceptional. The staff that was checking us out and greeted us always smile and so helpful with her recommendations. We got the cutest box of macarons , cost about $28 without tax but it's so pretty I could use it to put gifts in later! We also got the cutest chocolate bar and the cutest chocolate piece. The chocolate "button" one was so delicious, the right amount of sweets and fragrance. I got different flavors of macarons and oh my goodness, they all tasted so soft still the next day and it's like they melt in my mouth. It is not too sweet and just made with perfection. Love the presentation, love the look, love the bag and box that came with the purchase. Overall, it was a bit expensive but it was worth it. This is an iconic macaron shop in Georgetown. It gives off Parisian vibes. We got the Isaphan and Marie-Antoinette which was sweet and just melts in your mouth when you bite into it. I wanted to really like Laduree, but I thought the experience was okay. Laduree has a great location in Georgetown right off M Street. There is a parking garage on Thomas Jefferson St that was only $16 (on the weekend), and it was only a few minute walk away. This location is small (like all places in Georgetown), the front half of the store has a bakery counter and the back has a few tables. It looked like they had a few outdoor seats as well, but it was too cold when we visited. They location is small, so if you want to sit down for a meal, I would highly recommend making a reservation. I did the Laduree tea time for $60. I did a pot of tea with my tea time, and they had a good selection. The food came on a tiered tower. The finger sandwiches were good, especially the salmon one, but small. The rest of the tray was just sweets. The macarons were good and you get to pick the flavors. I also picked a chocolate croissant, which I wish had been a little warm. The two sweets of the day just ended up being two bite sized cookies. You also get a half dozen macrons to go. I ended up eating my friends French fries from her sandwich meal, because I needed something savory. If I went again, I would just get a normal meal, the tea time was not worth the price at all. Adorable French shop with macaroons, pastries, and food. Indoor seating for lunch or tea. We had lemonade which was freshly squeezed and tasted so satisfying on a warmer day. The macaron has a funky flavor (ok, maybe I am not a fan of rose flavored food), but the more important quality was it lacked freshness. It was not crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. It had bigger pieces of almond in the macaron, which got in the way and took away any semblance of the chewiness one expects with a macaron. And the eclair - again it tasted stale, and the inside cream was not sufficiently sweet. In fact it was strangely bland. I have had better eclairs just about everywhere else. Parking wise - expect to park far and walk blocks. It's on the busy street of Georgetown. Great for taking pictures but that's probably it. I would not return. read more

What happened to this place? It used to be one of my favorite happy places. The last few times I walked in, I was greeted with the pungent smell of cleaning chemicals rather than the sweet fragrance of a French patisserie. The selection of pastries has also remained the same for quite some time, uninspiring and stale. Where are the St. Honoré, the Religeuse or other fan favorites? The club sandwiches are all pre-assembled and stale. The employees seem just as uninspired as the pastries. Gone are the French-speaking staff who provided a standard of service that matched the beautiful decor and luxury prices; instead, you'll wonder if you're at a McDonald's. Buyers beware: pay attention to your receipt when ordering takeout. Some of the staff will still charge a Service Fee for takeout orders. It happened to me but it was too late when I noticed. I'm sad and disappointed to see how Laduree Georgetown deteriorated on all fronts. Not sure if there was a change in management. After scouring dc for a venue that offered teatime during the week laduree was one of the very few places that happened to check off this requirement. As soon as we entered we were greeted by one of their associates who seated us in the upper portion (aka their designated tea section). Although the seats were comfy the area was quite tight. Thankfully, no one was seated behind us until we were nearly ready to leave. We opted for the tea time for two and my friends niece choose the children's teatime option. After receiving our tea tower I immediately noticed that the tea sandwiches had seen better days. The lettuce was wilted and the bread was soggy, but alas since the little one was with us we didn't make a big deal. Instead, we attempted to order one of the savory items from our server. However, to our surprise they had apparently run out of ALL of their savory items. Fast forward to the desserts, which had also seen better days for the most part. The macaroons were good, however the larger desserts left much to be desired. Especially the raspberry tart which had separated from the shell. This tells me that it was either old or had been over cooked. We ultimately swapped this and the eclair out for their hazelnut dacquoise dessert which was good and the best thing that we had there. After the teatime was over we picked out macarons to take home with us (which was the highlight of a very blasé teatime). Bad tea sandwiches and over cooked desserts aside, this venue was also suffering with a bad mosquito issue at the time of our visit. After all, can you truly enjoy yourself when you're constantly swatting giant mosquitoes away from yourself and the desserts. Long story short, there are definitely better places to have a memorable teatime throughout the city (specifically at your four star and up hotels), so I doubt if I'll ever come back for this type of adventure. read more

Me and my girlfriend met with a friend to celebrate our birthdays for afternoon tea. I'm not much of an afternoon tea type but I figured why not. The reservation was pretty easy to secure since it was a Monday. The dining area wasn't too busy or too big, only one other party aside from us. We opted to order the $69/per person tea tower (not sure the name but this is an accurate description). For this price it included 4 macarons, 3 finger sandwiches, choice of marshmallows or jellies, a choice of dessert, choice of drink, a glass of champagne and a 6 piece gift box of macarons as well. There is also a lesser option for $49 that does not include the champagne and gift box. As a party, two of us chose the Laduree Hot Chocolate, and I got the white coffee (note: its not actually coffee, thats tea). The finger sandwiches were probably the best part in my opinion( specifically the salmon) since it was the only savory part of the meal. The whole tower was mostly all sweets to begin with. The macarons were pretty standard but I like their many flavor options. Jellies were not really for me, a little too sweet. For the other desserts, I got the Elysees and the other two people got the eclair. Even though this was just a sugary meal, the Elysees was my second favorite part. Just a great dessert if you love chocolate. Service was decent but our server did disappear for a good chunk of time toward the end so we were there a little longer than expected. Overall, probably not my go to spot in Georgetown but an interesting experience either way. read more

Amazing. I loved every bite of my smoked salmon eggs benedict, and I was glad to see that the portions of food we got were actually reasonable/filling for the price we paid. Tea is enough for two, but my friends didn't know that and we each got our own kettles, not that we were complaining at all. That just meant I had some tea leftover for dessert time when we indulged in our macarons. The waitress was kind enough to heat up my tea too because by that time dessert was served, it was cooled down completely, and it was like getting a fresh batch of tea all over again.
