Well, when we came into the store, we were greeted and tended to immediately. I got a pedicure and my wife got a mani pedi. Man, my helper TiTi was awesome! For such small hands, she did a deep tissue massage on my legs. And, my feet have never felt so good. This place was clean and smelled good. I, like many others, only came here because I had a gift certificate. The guy who checked me in also did my manicure. Red flag should have been the fact that he had just walked in at the same time and immediately started my nails without any actual prep. He didn't realize that I had a gift certificate until I mentioned it part of the way into the service. When I mentioned it, he asked to see it; Second red flag since he didn't ask anything about pay at all before I mentioned that I hadn't had my nails done in a while and received it as a gift from a coworker). I showed him a gift certificate for $50. After that, he started rushing through the service. It looked fine at first when he finished. It was extremely fast (third red flag, but again, I hadn't been in a while and it genuinely looked fine from first looks), but on my drive out, I noticed that the top coat was bubbly, the gel was on my skin and chipping, the gel color was streaky and transparent. I got tip color snd could see the whites of my natural nail as if the polish had grown out, and my nail (my real nails) were filed into careless, wonky shapes. Before leaving, I actually scheduled to return to get a pedicure later that day, but I refuse to go back and spend my money there after really looking at the quality of the manicure. She rushed the whole thing and it was the deluxe pedicure, she spent maybe a minute on each side for scrub. No lotion just cuticle oil all over your legs. Came in for a "mommy and me" morning with my oldest. This was her first time in a nail shop and Xa was very patient with her and did her design almost as requested. Nina did my nails and helped communicate what I wanted for my daughter as well. She was great and took time to thoroughly explained their pricing and processes. I'm not new to getting my nails done so at times this was off putting, but I think it is amazing customer service for a someone who doesn't know what they want or is new to getting nails done. They did successfully upsell me more than I planned to spend, BUT that's business. There is nothing wrong with asking me if I want a design or if I want a wax, but when I say "No thank you" I find it kinda pushy to keep asking and then pointing out "you have long hairs on your face. Misleading Sales Practices, Unethical, Deceptive I was looking for a new nail place to try by my sons school. I stopped here because it was in a nice place. I expected the prices may be on the higher side but what I didn't expect was to get mislead into what ended up being a $115 service after all said & done. (I regretfully still tipped 15% because I would have been embarrassed not to tip. That's my fault) I went in & asked to get a regular manicure & pedicure with no polish. They plopped me in the chair and my tech came over to me & started the service. She never handed me a menu or discussed pricing with me which was fine because like I said I just wanted a regular manicure & pedicure with no polish. The tech starts on my hands & proceeds to say your nails are ruined you need to at least put polish on your nails, I will do clear, she says. So, I shyly said ok, I guess. She then says, I need to moisturize you (whatever that means) & says, verbatim, do you want 10 minute massage or 15 minute massage. Like these are my only options so I say 10 minute or whatever the regular is. The tech ended up putting clear gel polish on my hands and feet, some moisture glove thing on my hands, exfoliated my legs, & charged me for extra massage. So I walked out of there spending a fortune on a "regular manicure & pedicure with NO polish." This was beyond frustrating. I did not want any of this & to top it off she never even gave my feet an actual pedicure. I keep kicking myself for not saying anything when she rung me up. This was a few days ago and I finally decided to make this review because the frustration still hasn't gone away. I feel completely ripped off, robbed even. Horrible experience at this location. The technician removed the dip on my nails with an acrylic nail (?) which was somewhat painful. I have one nail that is already split and she split it even more by trying to remove the dip. It was extremely painful and wouldn't stop bleeding. She acted like it wasn't a big deal, didn't apologize and wanted to paint over it when I told her I didn't want her to do anymore. It still hurts today and will take awhile to heal. The clinician didn't listen and I had to get my nails redone within days because the polish was put on so thick that they were messed up within minutes. I was not expecting to walk right in the weekend before Christmas but there was plenty of staff available right when I got there. Kate was great! Beautiful job on both my pedicure (milk and honey) and my dip manicure. OPI is my go to, they had my favorite in the regular polish for my toes but not the dip for my fingers, she assured me she could match it perfectly with using a darker dip and the matching gel color as a top coat. Moved to Clayton and had my very first time appointment at Ladue Nails on Clayton rd yesterday. What a scam.... the so called "artist" as they called them on their website chapped off my already short nails all the way to my finger tips, all crooked, sideways, I always had straight cut, she cut in to the skin. Cuticles cut terrible, see pictures. On my pedicure, she kept cutting in to my skin, even dough I asked her not to numerous times, barely cleaned my heel from dead skin. She painted so fast, that she had to re do few nails. All together she was done in 35 min for manicure and pedicure together. Never in my life I had my manicure and pedicure done in 35 min. What a racket they have going in there. It's more like a manicure Factory. If there was a Minus rating, I would given them -10 rating. I did not have a problem paying for the service (the tech did an efficient job)...but Jen was kind enough to discount it as a result of my frustration. I know so many people that are customers here that for some dumb reason, I question myself and I try to give these people another try because for the LIFE of me, I can't understand what the people I know and respect are experiencing when they come! I knew this was going to be a hot mess when I brought to the nail techs attention some ragged edges before she even started the gel and she was like I'll fix it at the end. My cuticles look a mess and the gel around them is uneven. I should have been clued in when it's Friday afternoon and there was absolutely no wait. Too quick, sloppy filing, never asked how I wanted them cut(shorter or longer) cut them too short, not even and kept up selling me to do do a callous treatment on my heels and a manicure. UPDATE: I went back in after sitting in my car and the owner immediately offered for my nails to be redone. I came back the the next day and was serviced by May. She did an excellent job. I don't know if she went out her way because of my review/experience or if it was her caliber of work. I was pleased over all. As I mentioned, I typically get good service here but it can be hit or miss. Just like anywhere, you have to find a good tech and stick with them. I am only updating this to 3 stars (I would give May 5) because the original tech who was rude did not apologize and didn't seem to be corrected (she kept walking past while I was getting serviced) and because they asked me to change my review (Because it takes two times to get it right). Clean and friendly but don't go here for a dip manicure. They don't do enough coats to where i could see through and I'm 99% sure they are thinning their products with super glue. She pulled a bottle out of another cabinet for a top coat even though she had one in her basket. When she applied the top coat it BURNED! I could tell that it wasn't the actual branded product because I have had many dip manicures with the same brand before. It smelled exactly like super glue and when I looked at the top of the bottle it was all gunked up. Her finger even stuck to mine as she was applying! My third visit here and my last. I called and made an appointment. When I arrived on time, was told to wait a moment while they serviced walk-ins. I ignored my gut instinct to leave and continued with the tech who was rude even though I made numerous attempts to counter her rudeness with kindness. I ended up having to move chairs twice (with my shoes and bag) nearly messing up my newly painted pedi. My tech didn't speak to me except to acknowledge the tip that I left (because of my bad habit of tipping bad service to keep from being perceived as someone who doesn't tip). My tech mainly communicate by tapping my hands or feet when she wanted me to move. I left with a uneven, too short gel manicure that is already chipping (a day later). This was my first time here as a walk-in. I picked out a polish and was helped right away. I had a bit of difficulty understanding what Tammy was asking sometimes, but she did a wonderful job on my toes and fingers. The pedicure costed $70 (called European on the receipt). It was more than I was expecting to pay, but it was worth it. The pedicure included an aloe soak, scrub and lotion, toe and foot massage, nail trim, callous buffering, wax dip, and shellac polish. Tammy was very friendly and did a great job on my feet. I have rather callous feet from having Type One Diabetes for over 20 years of my life and I have broken all my metatarsals previously, but she was gentle with my feet. The manicure was $30 for shellac polish. I had picked out a large sparkle color, but Tammy had one of the techs pick out a better one for me as the one I had picked out did not look the same on as it did in the bottle. I was grateful for the suggestion, as I like the color they picked out much better. My nails look great! If you need a nail tech that is sweet and does a wonderful job, I recommend asking for Tammy. Went in for pedicure and the gentleman who greeted me and also performed this service made me feel rushed from the get go ... on a lazy, not busy Sunday afternoon. I saw him notice my gift certificate and I honestly feel like he realized this was not going to be new income for the day (since I obviously had a prepaid for gift card) and he rushed through my whole service. Entire pedicure was all of 20 minutes. Barely scrubbed my feet ... I literally came home and used my own tools to remove hard thick skin on the sides of both feet thinking to myself "didn't I just pay to have someone else do this??" When he was done with my service, he told me to sit for 10 minutes and that was the end of seeing him. Also, my gift certificate was for a mani pedi. I only wanted the pedi that day and I had the lowest end (least expensive pedi/ regular polish). They told me I have $12 left to apply for my mani in the future. What is $12 going to get me as a 'manicure'?? Filing my nails only? If I walked in and asked for a manicure, there is no way it would be only $12. Hello, I've been frequenting your business for several years and I've noticed it's gone a little down hill lately. Yesterday I was at the ladue road location and during my pedi, a worker came and sat next to my chair, talking with my service provider, eating a bag of crunchy loud Doritos and watching tv, all while I'm trying to relax and enjoy, I was disgusted by the smell and situation. He instead, insisted on another pedicure that was more and did not tell me the gel polish was NOT included. He also told me he was NOT going to cut my nails but would just file them. When it came time for my manicure, he literally dipped my had in the water that was lukewarm, and then started cutting around my cuticles. No pushing them back, no soaking. He handed me a $90 bill which included $20 for gel that was separate. I was beyond livid. I had to come home and file my nails more because they were slightly jagged. Here we are 10 days later and my "3 week gel pedicure and manicure" is chipping. This was the worst referral ever. I will NEVER again patronize this business. Today was my first trip to Ladue Nails and it wasn't great. I sat down for a pedicure and was asked which one. I picked the $29 pedicure. I can't remember the name, but she said they would scrub my feet. Well she didn't. She barely did anything except polish and apply lotion. She then just left. Sat in chair for 40 mins as the nail tech did someone else nails and waxing. I finally got up to check out and no one would take my payment. I stood at the cash register for $10 minutes. I finally gave another nail tech a look of annoyance and she got up to help me. She yelled for my nail tech and then took my credit card. Finally my nail tech appears laughing and laughing. All of the nail techs were laughing. It really felt like they were laughing at me. I think they were laughing because the nail tech forgot about me. Either way, I didn't feel great about my experience. Well, the overall work of my toes isn't great. The polish isn't even and probably needed another coat.
