Came here to try their matcha! I ordered their iced banana matcha latte which they gave to me in a paper cup. I was really confused about the cup as they usually place other items in these cups and matcha in clear cups. Wasn't able to see my drink :(. Matcha was good but a bit on bitter side and couldn't see color of my matcha. Took very 20 min for 2 drinks even though wasn't too busy. Very cute place overall to go study with lots of seating and ample space.

His: Coco Freeze Hers: Banana Matcha with oat milk, less sweet. I also LOVE their bac xiu- essentially a less intense normal viet coffee. Workers are fast here and there's so much room to work!

There is a small parking lot and saw a handful of spots open but it honestly is starting to look more packed on a weekday 12pm. However going in the place there is abundant seating and some people are here to do work/study. Ordered my matcha latte w/ 25% sweetness through the kiosk. The matcha was okay would order it again, glad I picked 25% over 50% because they do run on the sweeter side. Would come back to try their coco freeze!

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. There was a decent crowd. I was there to try the famous Eggspresso Hanoi. I am having this for the first time. I was not sure how egg in coffee taste like. Surprisingly there was no egg flavor. Coffee was strong. Cocomango was delicious as well. It came in nice quantity.

This coffee has a perfect combination of egg form and Vietnamese coffee. I got it at a 75% sweet, it might be a bit sweet for most of people since i really like sweet. I would love to try other drinks on the menu next time! Its a bit pricey though. Its $7.50 for this small size. The environment is clean and good for studying or working.

I recently went to Lacaphe and tried their matcha latte and ordered on their self-service kiosk. It was a good balance of earthy matcha and creamy milk. The matcha was okay, and the drink was refreshing and well-made. The cafe itself was crowded with people even during a weekday afternoon, and it had a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made it a nice place to enjoy my drink with friends.

6/20/2026 Lacaphe was our last stop of the day, and I'm so glad we ended here! The place was packed, but the line moved quickly. We ordered the Saigon Freeze, Muoi, and COCO Freeze. My Saigon Freeze was hands‑down the best--like a super tasty Frappuccino. My sisters got the Muoi, which was really good but a little strong, and my sister's boyfriend got the COCO Freeze, which wasn't my favorite only because I'm not a coconut person. There were plenty of places to sit, and the vibe was super chill with a mix of families and people just hanging out. Everyone kept talking about how good my drink was--it really was that good! If I'm ever in San Jose again, I'm 100% coming back just for that Saigon Freeze.

TIME: Came here around 3:00 pm on a Sunday (Father's Day) was fairly busy but it wasn't overflowing as I thought. PARKING: Lots of parking inside a plaza, but could be very hard to find a space if it is super busy. PLACE: Spacious & lots of tables and chairs to sit at, you place your order on a kiosk or you can order through the cashier. You pick up at the counter, and they send a text when it's ready but if it's busy they just call your name instead. DRINKS: Lychee - wasn't super sweet since I chose 50% but great lychee taste and there's lychee inside of the drink! Kumquat - My mouth got numb after lol but it was super good, reminds me so much of calamansi. Decent place to get some coffee or drinks!

Coming around noon for the signature coffee and matcha latte. I ordered 25% sweet for the coffee and 50% sweet for the matcha. That was what I used to order. This time, the coffee was sweet with 25%, but the matcha was not sweet enought,, so I asked them to add 25% more sugar. The guy, who helped me, brought my drink and added the sugar. I said "thank you" and that would be great if he stopped there. I didn't ask anything or ask him to lecture me about the sweetness of the matcha. He said I should not order 50% or less than for the sugar. The matcha would go well with 75% or 100%. The owner should teach the employee when to and when to not "teach" the customer about the drinks.

I've been wanting to try their coffee for the longest, and I'm glad that I got to finally it during their opening hours on a random Thursday that I was able to go. (On a funny note: I did not know that they were going to open another location in Fremont, so I'm definitely attending their grand opening when they DO open in Fremont. Fingers crossed that I will be able to attend their grand opening. While I like the cherry blossom concept behind it, it left me rather disappointed when it came to the service and making of the drinks. While the coffee shop felt spacious and more than enough space to accommodate everybody, it just felt rushed throughout the whole time I was there. Their drinks were another dimension. I got their EGGspresso Hanoi, which surprisingly, was not bad at all. I loved how consistent the egg batter was, and the consistency of the coffee was quite equal. I will be back to try their other drinks, and hoping that their customer service could improve just a little bit more. I know they have the potential, but being more courteous goes a very long way compared to being bland in attitude, obviously.

This place upgraded their space and now there's plenty of seating with large tables to accommodate studying if needed. Ordered via the kiosk and my order was done in about a minute. Very happy with the quick service and cleanliness of the place, I will absolutely be back. Signature Coffee: delicious and was perfectly spot-on with the sweetness I selected. Cream was light and airy which was a nice touch with the coffee. 10/10

Signature Saigon (their house blend coffee was so good---had roasty notes of hazelnut) + Coco-Bo.
sonia c.

Came with no expectations, because Vietnamese coffee is not particularly my go-to coffee drink, but wow ! their Signature Saigon (house blend coffee with cloud cream) caught me off guard with how good the coffee was - not bitter, not acidic, and had roasty notes of hazelnut. The subtly-salty cloud cream topping was delicious as well, and complemented the coffee. I selected 25% sweet & less ice, which was perfect. Also got the Coco-Bo (coconut milk avocado smoothie-slushie) - 0% sweet, but not sure how they adjust this ~ it was still sweet, as both the coconut part & avocado part were separately sweet, but still enjoyable & refreshing. One small caveat is that the avocado part is a paste so even though it's most likely house made, to me the texture is a little processed (as opposed to chunky blended avocado). I am dreaming about when I can return to get their Signature Saigon again & try their other coffee drinks.

Banana matcha latte with oat milk was good! I got it extra sweet and it was the perfect amount for me. Total came to almost $10 which is pricey, but nowadays all sweet treats are expensive unfortunately lol. Interior is aesthetic and the seats are super cute and comfy! Would consider coming again!

How do you use the reward system to claim a free drink?

There's a tablet when you order to sign up via square. Each drink is one point and free item after 10

Are all egg and cloud creams made with whole milk? Can they be made nondairy?

I think they are all premade so I don't think it's possible

Do they serve any bags of coffee as well here?

Nope. Only prepared beverages

Does Lacaphe offer non-caffeinated options?

The menu has a small triangle for non caffeinated options (theres one item). You may be able to ask if they can do non caffeinated substitutes but I think everything is premade so might not be available

I would do 0% sweet as the toppings and cream make it already quite sweet. Also tried The coconut coffreeze which reminded me of a drink from dutch bros but stronger in the coffee flavor. The sunset guava tea was refreshing but could use a stronger tea flavor because it mostly tasted like syrup. The matcha cloud was very milky and doesn't taste like matcha at all. If there's one thing I'd get here it's be the milkteaway or other plain milk teas, because I wasn't super impressed by the matcha or fruit tea. The workers are very nice but they seem understaffed so you will have to wait a bit for your drinks. The place is casual and well kept. They have games available and are open late everyday, making it a fun spot to hang with friends or family. Overall: 3.8/5

Located directly at the corner of S. Second St and E. William St, this family owned-and-operated coffeeshop is in the heart of downtown. Parking here during any given day can be quite challenging; especially during the workweek as there are various offices around here as well as being in close proximity to San Jose State University. Business hours are 7am-4pm seven days a week. I came here during the morning of Friday 9/4/2026 at around 10:00am. Fortunately I was able to find a nearby parking spot but as a reminder, meters are everywhere. The exterior of the business showcases their business name complete with several planter boxes, colorful outdoor seating, and umbrellas to shield out the sun. The interior is small and quaint yet there is still ample seating for roughly two dozen customers. It is one of the smaller coffeeshops I have been to and can get quite loud. So if you're focused on studying or conducting a virtual meeting, this may not be the place for you. Since I was saving my appetite for breakfast somewhere else, I ended up ordering a drink. And to those that have been here highly praised their "Pandan Latte". This is Asias answer to a vanilla latte as they use sweetened pandan-infused extract to give it a very unique taste. I chose 2% milk and wanted to go with an iced version as it was a relatively warm summer morning. This place does offer many more unique offerings that include lattes made with banana cream. Piloncillo coffee (widely known as café de olla), and Madagascar flavors. Keep in mind that this place does not accept cash so make sure you have your cards ready to go and of course, they take Apple/Google Pay. I will say that my Pandan Latte was made to absolute perfection as the taste was not too sweet and not too bitter. The service was also above average as this small business had a very festive vibe to it. I also wanted to add that they sell a nice assortment of whole bean coffee, teas, and other various merchandise on their website, https://www.academiccoffee.com/ as well as in their brick-and-mortar stores. Furthermore, they opened a second location on Winchester Blvd/Forest Ave right near Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara. With excellent service, prime location, and delicious beverages, I am giving "Academic Coffee" in San Jose a perfect five-star rating.
