First time at this Labcorp location for my routine blood work, and I was very happy with the experience. I did a walk-in in the afternoon with just a short wait. Check-in through the kiosk was quick and easy, though they weren't able to verify my insurance and it had to be updated afterward. Once checked in, I only waited about 10 minutes before being called, and I was in and out in under 30 minutes. The blood draw was one of the most painless I've had. Staff were friendly! Parking was a bit confusing, I ended up in a cash-only garage next door, but there's also metered street parking available. read more

Your mileage (experience) may vary from mine but I found my visit to be somewhat problematic for blood sample extraction. The nurse / tech performing the blood draw had issues finding the vein. They had to use both arms. Even then, they use the needle on the extraction device to probe in, out, and around in each arm multiple times. 7 times in the right arm. 4 times in the left arm. With success only in the left arm. The blood draw experience at this site, with that person is different from almost every other experience in a clinic, hospital, or blood donation site. With other nurses / techs being able to easily find the vein. Historically, I have given blood test samples in over 60 various office visits, and blood donations of 19 pints over my life. So I have more than a few experiences to compare LabCord San Mateo against. Outside of the blood draw, the staff at the San Mateo location was both pleasant and professional to deal with. The front office and draw rooms were both neat and clean. With the site location signage easy to see and understand. The office location itself was easy to find. With plenty of parking available. If I use LabCorp San Mateo again then I will likely ask for a different nurse / tech to perform the blood draw. Otherwise I give LabCorp San Mateo a "Definite Maybe" for my recommendation. Arrived at 10:55 to witness a man being very rude to the phlebotomist, Asfa, because she couldn't attend to him, as he had no appointment and she needed to close for lunch. Asfa, the only person working, had been working nonstop for 4hrs... I tried to get an appointment on line and no appointments for weeks out...feeling frustrated, and sorry for employee being treated rudely. read more

2 Big Problems: 1) Woman at the front desk has a bad attitude towards customers. 2) They don't honor the walk-in testing policy that is advertised online at point of purchase. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, and despite it seemingly being a quiet day with only one other person in the waiting room, the woman working the front desk acted snotty and annoyed to be helping a customer check in. Also, I ordered two tests through LabCorp OnDemand, and for some reason she couldn't seem to figure out how to pull up the second of the two tests ordered. Despite showing her the order confirmation email I received for LabCorp for the 2nd test she said 'well we are closing soon so you can only do the one test today & you'll have to come back later'. She said this at 1:40pm despite their office hours indicating open until 2:30pm. Worse yet, another customer arrived as I was leaving around 1:55pm and I heard the worker at the front desk tell this customer 'We don't do testing without an appointment'. Questionable practices 1. When given a sample cup for urine collection, I was not given a cleansing cloth. 2. There was no tissue in the bathroom, except for a loose roll sitting on top of the tank, which was dirty. 3. The cabinet to place the sample in was lined with a paper towel soaked in urine. The cabinet was empty, which means that no one cleaned the cabinet after the last sample was deposited there. 4. The blood draw was painful from beginning to end. I usually feel a minor pinch initially, then nothing. 5. The person who drew my blood was also the receptionist. She was courteous, but it took a long time at the window to check in. I will avoid this facility in the future. read more

Went for routine labs at about 10:15am without an appointment, only one person in the waiting room. Was greeting by a nice man at the desk. Used kiosk to check in. Sat in the waiting room for about 5 mins. A nice lady brought me back, she was very please t and I was out in about 15 mins. I personally had a great experience. read more

After two "we can't find your orders called in by your doctor" in the LabCorp system, I made an appointment and showed up with paper orders figuring that would end my problems with this place. Wrong. I check in via my phone, get a confirmation I am checked in on my phone and sit in the office to wait. And wait I did until the receptionist noticed me sitting there and asked for my name. She said she couldn't find me in the system. I show her the confirmation of the appointment and check in verification which she wouldn't even look at. She says I need to recheck in through the portal. I do so and she calls me to the desk where I hand her my paper orders. She takes awhile to get them entered then asks if I am paying cash. I assume she means my copay and show her my card. She says I'm not done yet - wait till I'm done. I wait some more and then she says that will be $265. I remind her I have insurance and she says well you said you were paying cash. I advise her I am paying cash for the copayment like I have for YEARS. She says she will have to redo everything, I will have to recheck in through the portal and she has to start the process all over again. By now what little patience I have is gone and I tell her I'll just pay it so I can get out of the building. I ask her how I go about being reimbursed and she hands me a phone number for Labcorp and my paid in cash receipt. While I'm getting my blood drawn, I hear her telling yet another patient that she can't find his name in their system and he tells her he just checked in via his phone and here's the confirmation only to be told she can't find his name in the system. WHAT is going on with this place in the last six months or so? read more

Maybe it was bad luck, but the last 2 times I've gone(months apart), the office was closed for walk-ins due to staff shortages. So I wasted a day of fasting and the time and money to go there. If you want to call ahead of time, to check if this is the case that day, no one ever picks up the phone. And appointments are almost never available closer than about a month out. If you actually manage to see a phlebotomist, that experience was always good. read more

This is the poorest excuse of care or efficiency I have ever seen in my entire 59 years. The lady behind the counter was rude and incompetent, it was shocking! She used every excuse, it's not my fault, that's not my job. We're closing for lunch! I'm just trying to check in and get my labs done with the digital order from my doctor covered by my insurance. I first need to say that my practitioner Dina was wonderful. She was patient while handling hostility from the front desk worker Jordan. She was also incredibly kind to me during my lab work. However, the front desk lead, Jordan was obviously incredibly miserable. She was horribly rude to her fellow staff as well as the customers. She seemed completely burnt out and lacked the sensitive care needed in the medical field. It is never ok to take out your stress and yell at the customers, let alone someone who is ill and elderly. It's been a while since I came here, and it wasn't worth mentioning the last time, but while the new room is nicer, the service has declined. Unfortunately the desk clerk did not know how to check people in and would call patients up, then start listing off names of other patients, and then she would bump the first one called rather than finishing with them and then calling the next person. The phlebotomist themselves are fine and never the problem. Some more organization would be helpful to the flow of care. read more

Depersonalized health care. Before you go there, Make sure you have detailed Doctors test orders, including test codes. If not, you will be turned away. Even simple, standard blood tests require specific orders and codes. read more

Fast check in, easy parking right below the lab. They don't validate the parking so be ready to pay at least 2 dollars for the first hour. From parking lot you just take the elevator up. You can ask the gentleman at the entrance of the garage, which one is the closest part to park. Friendly staff, not busy. read more

The staff at this facility couldn't care less about your time and/or experience. They are rude & unprofessional to say the very least. The lab tech I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with could barely understand me & didn't seem the least bit interested in addressing my issue. A simple blood draw was all that I was there for but couldn't even get that done. I was referred over to Mills Lab down the street & had the best possible experience I could have hoped for. I come here even though it's an added 10 minutes more than going to the one on Webster in SF. I find the parking to be much cheaper at $1 or $2! This is the first lab I've ever been to where every member of the staff is so helpful & friendly! A rarity as labs go. read more

I have done several walk-in lab tests here. Super easy to check in and the wait was luckily not long at all. The front desk lady is very helpful and nice, experienced in drawing bloom as well. I come here for my yearly lab draws and service is so-so. I do walk-ins and I'd get here when they first open. Unfortunately, the technicians/phlebotomists do not arrive on time. They nonchalantly walk to open the door with coffee in their hands and do not apologize to the patients. I give them 3 stars for that. read more

Maria Dwyer was wonderful and very very professional. She took 15 vials using no pain at all and she was the very first doctor to EVER get blood from my arm instead of the painful hand and wrist. Ive had nothing but horrible experiences in the past from other places but this was the best and will be my go to place forever. I was super nervous and Maria knew how to keep me calm and relaxed!! I made an appointment online a week in advance for a 10:45 appointment Tb test (blood draw). I came in around 9:15 as I was running early. There were a few people there already. I checked in using their kiosk, and I asked the receptionist how much the test would cost after insurance. She printed out a sheet for me showing the estimates with my plan. I waited about 20-25 minutes before the phlebotomist called my name to come in (which was totally fine since they were taking me much earlier than my appointment time). The phlebotomist was friendly, quick, and had no trouble with my blood draw. I had an awesome experience and would recommend making appointments though drop ins would probably be okay too depending on what time of day it is. 2 stars for easiness of blood draw. 0 stars for lab results delivery as it now has been over one week with no results reported when the estimated time of delivery said 2-7 days. I would have opted for the skin Tb test to have results by Wednesday if I had known had delayed the lab testing would be. read more

I had an appointment for 3 pm, and I ended up arriving 15 min early after getting off work. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful, instructing me to check in at the kiosk after handing her my paperwork. The process took less than a minute and after she verified my insurance I took a seat for another minute before she called me back into the room. Her bedside manner was superb and made the process extremely comfortable, quick and as painless as possible! Whenever I've had to get blood work, either I get it done at this location or their Butlingame lab where they're located on El Camino--free limited time parking. What is the point of an appointment if you're not going to be seen until 20 minutes after? The "wait where you're comfortable" service (where they let you wait in the car and text you when the technician is ready to see you) is a charade--after I got the text message, I went inside and had to wait another 15 minutes while other patients were being called. When I asked the front desk attendant what the deal is, she said they have only two rooms and two attendants and they also take walk-ins in addition to scheduled patients (which sounds like they're overbooking) and told me others are waiting, too, as if I'm requesting special treatment in asking why I'm not seen when I'm told they're ready for me. I would give one star except that the technicians are fine--not warm and friendly, but competent. But making a fasting patient wait this long is not okay. read more

Made an appointment on a Friday morning at 8:15 AM. I filled out all the paperwork online so that I could easily get my bloodwork done. Not going to lie, I arrived at 8:20 AM and there was NO ONE in the clinic at all. Checked in and was told to sit and wait... waited till 8:45 and FINALLY got called in and I asked them why they took so long and they said that they didn't know how to enter one of my test in??? Don't they do this everyday?! Anyways, I got my blood taken and it felt like they were squeezing my arm becuase they couldn't get enough blood. It hurt. More than usual. I guess I have to go here if I need bloodwork since its the closest to my house but it seriously is a nightmare. read more

This was supposed to be for a routine blood test. There were no convenient time slots available online, so I tried going as a walk in first thing at 7am. About a half a dozen other people had the same idea, and I can see why. There was only one person working the whole office, which included checking people in, making sure their paperwork was in order, and drawing the blood tests. She was working as fast and efficiently as she could, and was even pleasant despite being the only one there, so I'd give her 5 stars on that alone. This review is about what happened afterwards. I was supposed to receive my results via snail mail because my doctor said, "it costs less." Okay, so I'll be patient while wondering how such a manual process can be cheaper than online in the middle of tech savvy Silicon Valley. I got my blood sample done in an acceptable amount of time, and left for work. Days went by. Weeks went by. No snail mail from LabCorp. I finally called and spoke with someone in customer service who verified that my address was correct. She said a copy of my results would be sent asap. More days passed, then more weeks (had to go out of town), and I called again. Once again my address was verified, and again the rep said she'd send a copy. Later that same day, I discovered you can register for online test results, so I did that but still had to have someone manually send the results to my account. I open the .pdf file thinking, "finally, my test results!", and at the bottom it says, "Test not performed. Specimen could not be located." This meant someone lost it or did something wrong with it, and that I'd have to go back for another blood sample. Unfortunately my insurance has contracted with this lame outfit, so I have to use LabCorp for all of my tests unless I change insurance carriers. Called their number to check if they were open day after Christmas. Recorded message says they are open day after both holidays from 7:00am - 5:00pm. Tried to schedule online, but online says no availability. I decided to fast and just walk in on the 26th first thing in the morning 7:00am. It's now 7:48am and the place is still close. I don't understand, if this location has a different schedule than other lab corps, why wouldn't you update your message system to say otherwise? Or leave a message on your office door to inform your walk-in customers. Are you perhaps not informing your managers that there is no staff that wants to come in that early after the holiday? I just don't get it. For a patient service company, this is just not acceptable... This there a main lab corp no. to call and complain about this?
