I did a walk-in on a Saturday and was 3rd in line, so I ended up waiting about an hour--but it was absolutely worth it. Rose was incredibly kind and professional throughout the whole process. I tend to bruise easily, so I asked if she could use a butterfly needle, and she was very accommodating. Even though she had to draw around 10 tubes of blood, she was patient, gentle, and made the entire experience go smoothly. I'm really glad I chose this location today. I did a walk-in today , August 7th at 12noon and waited for 3 hours just to find out they will not be able to see me. The 2 lab workers were just slow and non communicative to walk-ins . I understand scheduled patients are prioritized over walk-ins but simply there was no effort made what so ever to acknowledge the walk-ins in between to squeeze them in . It was simply and ignorance and lack of training . Things were maybe not in their control and they were overwhelmed by appointments, however some communication and acknowledgement should have been exchanged with patients waiting for hours in the waiting room. I think it was simply an ignorance. A patient before me also waiting for 3 hours finally raised her frustrations, then it only initiated a response by a lab tech to call her in.?? What about the rest of us that was waiting as walk-ins. ?? Also, walk-ins opportunity and options should not be an option if appointments were fully booked . There should be a better way to handle walk-ins then to have them wait and not be acknowledged at all. This is just simply being rude !! read more

The withdrawal of blood by the nurse or diagnostician was very painful and left a big bruise on my right arm. This does not happen when I go to hospitals or clinics like PAMF and Stanford. The inside of my elbow from where blood was drawn has bruised and still hurts after a week. There could be potential nerve damage as the pain keeps increasing by the day. This is scary! read more

I want to shout out to the two wonderful women at Quest Foster City. I stopped in on a rare day off as a walk-in and was only able to schedule an appointment for 7 and a half hours later. Within 10 minutes, Rimi came out to the lobby and asked if I wanted to wait until 2:30, or do it now. Success!....except now the doctor's orders were not in the system. Lorelei spent extra effort hand entering the orders from my Stanford app into the Quest system. She drew my blood, and I was on my way. Thank you, Rimi, and especially Lorelei! read more

This place wasted 90 minutes of my son's and my time because they wouldn't make a 30 second phone call. Once we checked in, which I must say was a dystopian process, someone came out and asked if I'm the one with the baby. After confirming, they told me that they cannot draw his blood because they did not have the right supplies. All they had to do was call me earlier in the day, but instead they waited until we drove to them. Her excuse was that "she was unsure about his age", then call and confirm. Quest has 2.6 stars on Google, and that is far too generous. They showed absolutely no respect for my son's and my time, and clearly have a problem managing inventory, and the fact that this place is still in business despite the terrible reviews shows just how broken our healthcare system is. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!! DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION. I have come here twice and was not seen either time. No one at the reception desk, no one answers the phone. All I had was a drop off, so I checked in however there is no option to indicate drop off only. I had refrigerated and frozen samples, so when the door opened, I let the woman know and she yelled at me that others were waiting and it might be two hours (so I'm supposed to potentially compromise the samples) and they weren't exactly moving expeditiously. I did not see anyone else with samples but me but I have to wait 2 hours for a drop off. Ridiculous. I left to keep my samples cold. NEVER AGAIN. Have to keep my samples until Monday now because of their incompetence. Going to the hospital lab from now on, friendly and efficient service there and quick turnaround. Will have to stop the doctor from sending any more requests to Quest. Corporate needs to do some intensive training with their employees. I will never take my business to any Quest again. The Quest business model of only being by appointment (made online or on phone) is a bit inconvenient. And even with appointments, lines are long, and people are turned away. No one to talk to, no one to help, no one to assist. The entire process is very cold & frustrating.... That being said, I lucked out and had a good experience here today, the tester was very nice,and I was in & out in less than 10 minutes. The experience was still frustrating, making appointments that weren't really appointments, going to 3 different labs to be turned away, but I finally got it over with today at the Foster City lab by a nice lady. 3 stars for my experience with her, -2 stars forum experience with Quest. read more

You close at 4 pm and we go with our autistic child today and tell us you don't accept walk ins anymore and we came 15 mins before closing. We have a sensory seeking child, it's a good time because not a lot of people. Change your closing time. We just need the blood work done already. I so didn't want to write a bad review but here I am. Went there for a routine blood work and there was this guy (asian man, my apologies I don't know his name) who was the only one in at that time. He poked me so hard now I have a bruise and never did I had that much pain while my blood has been drawn. Now am little bit worried because I didn't see him opening the needle in front of me and that freaks me out like crazy thinking that its not freshly opened from the package (again I might be looking somewhere else which am not sure). Just to be clear I have been to this location multiple times and its always been amazing. The lady who attended to me last me was professional and super quick and super nice. Long story short: After waiting 2hrs for the walk in appointment Don't make an appointment for a drug test. Go between 1-3pm Walk ins only. All locations 1 star because of the lack of communication from headquarters to customer 5 stars for how I was treated at the Foster City location by both ladies working there. Long story: Went online to check walk ins. Strongly recommended to schedule an appointment. So I did 10.45am at this location because of the 4 stars they have. I was not allowed to drink 2 hrs prior my urine test. I get confirmation texts, asking me to arrive on time. So I do. Then the lady I'm asked to come back between 1-3pm for WALK INS for the urine test. "So, you want me to not drink for another 2 hours?" "No, you can drink" WTF??? It says don't drink on the website 2hrs prior to your test. So I've not been drinking so I can go to the restroom at my time if appointment, what if I go to the restroom and then when I come back at 1pm I don't need to go. Can you give me the cup? No. I need to pee in their restroom. So I can I pee now and leave it here? No. Can I speak to the manager. He's not here. But you can call him. Here's the number: xxxxxx Called manager. Voicemail So now I have to hang around for 2 hours and return at 1pm and then whoever's first gets helped first. Why did I make an appointment????? Highly recommend for paranoid moms like me, to bring their child here for blood draws. My son's pediatrician recommended that we take him to the hospital to get his blood drawn for his 12 month check up. I was a bit skeptical visiting a hospital with a baby due to COVID that I didn't even bother going to one. I did a lot of research to find a lab that is detached from the hospital. I was planning on going to Labcorp since I've used them in the past.. its still not my preference but it's better than going to a hospital. Labcorp was fully booked for weeks and would of been impossible for me to book a weekend appointment. I was luckily able to book an appointment with Quest for a Saturday, 2 days in advance! The building is clean and there were plenty of parking spaces. The chairs in the lobby were placed far apart from each other for social distancing. The techs here were very friendly and kept my son entertained before drawing his blood. read more

I have hard to find veins. Normally slight fishing involved. Marc moved more than 3mm fishing for a vein. He reinserted a needle after taking it out of the skin. Zero stars. This place is super clean located near Foster City upscale area. However, the address is in Mateo. The lab is on the 2nd floor. Lots of parking space. There were 2 friendly staff who helped us, one is the receptionist and the other one is the phlebotomist. They are open on Saturday at 8AM. BILLING IS FRAUDULENT and beware when signing docs at check in. DO NOT get blood work done at Quest Diagnostics unless you want to pay additional money out of pocket for services that your insurance states you are not liable for. When you sign in at Quest they have you electronically sign a waiver stating that you will pay for services that the insurance company doesn't hold you liable for. The woman on the customer service line for billing apologized that it wasn't made clear and that a lot of older people don't take the time to read through the small print. The receptionist told me that what I am signing is to ensure that I'm responsible for payment. Of course I'm responsible for payment, but this is taking clear advantage of a patient. I'll never go to a Quest Diagnostic to get lab work done, opt for the hospital where they aren't going to find loop holes to get more money out of you. read more

I came to this Quest Diagnostic a day after changing to a new PCP. I wanted to get my labs done. If you look at my review for Dr. Tam you'll see why I had to come a day after. I came here fasting around 9am. Dr. Tam did inform me that you can make an appointment online, but the majority of the time there is no wait, or 1-2 people in front of you. When I walked in there was 1 person in front of me. The waiting room is huge. Like way to big considering the size of the actual space, especially where the workers set everything up. There are a lot of seats - considering it was me and the other patient +1. There is a tablet where you check in and then you sit down and wait for the receptionist to call you. Once you go up they ask for you insurance and make sure there is an order for your labs and then you sit down again. After a few minutes one of the phlebotomists called me in to get my blood work done. She was quick and efficient; I am a relatively easy stick. After I was all done I went back into the waiting room and there were now 2 different people waiting. Considering, this was a great experience. I have seen labs - especially Kaiser - where people are waiting long times. This Quest is really fast for those that want to get in and out (most people). Staff is efficient and there is really no lines. Although, my PCP did say that Saturdays can get a little hectic just due to that's when people are off. read more

Very unprofessional staff. Don't waste your time coming here. I wish I would've read the reviews before going in. I walked in at 3:15pm and was told they didn't have time since they closed at 4. They don't have any signs saying that anywhere, there's just a machine where you check in as an appointment or check in as a walk-in. I told the lady at the window it would've been nice if that had that somewhere before I wasted my time filling out the questionnaire. There was no one waiting besides one appointment. Not to mention, I was told to book an appointment (but also overheard the front desk telling someone else they didn't have available appointments for an entire week) or "go in earlier". At the same time, someone else walked in very upset asking the front desk woman for help booking at appointment. The woman very rudely said she had already told him she couldn't help him. To me, it's amazing that there's someone up at the front desk who isn't able to assist with booking a simple appointment. I brought my 2 year old here to get her blood drawn this morning. The young woman was having trouble figuring out which size vile was needed and had to ask the older woman. Strike one. The younger one was taking the lead while the other helped hold my daughter's arm down. Once she stuck the needle in, she started moving it around looking for the vein!!!!! She eventually gave up and took the needle out. Strike two. She tries looking at my daughter's other arm and decides that she can't see any veins. Strike three. She finally concedes to the other woman who has to use the same arm her coworker just used to fish around for a vein. My poor daughter, who didn't cry the first time, was hard to distract for the second go. Why would you stick the needle in BEFORE finding the vein?!? read more

I wish I can give a Zero star! I went to get a blood drawn in this Quest diagnostic in Foster City for just annual blood test. This Asian guy must be new because I went there for many years there was a lady who was excellent, fast and efficient. Today I did not see her. This Asian man poked my vein so bad and was so painful not just when he inserted the needle, the pain was worse during the time he drew the blood into the tubes. After that he had to press on my vein for 5 minutes to make it stop bleeding. I said I never had a painful blood draw like this. He then blamed on the needle that they received a new brand. I almost wanted to say, not the needle is NEW, you are NEW! Then he called me after a few hours and asked me to go back because one of the blood tubes is not usable! I said no. No way I want him to draw my blood again! I never had a blood drawn so painful! I will never go back to this quest diagnostics place again! My sister is a nurse and she said --He needs to shake it lightly and let the chemicals in the tube mix with the blood. If he shakes too hard, the blood is not good. Also if he moves the needle while it is in my vein then very painful. If the needle pokes at the side of my vein then I will have a bruise. Yes, I had a bad bruise! It seemed like a couple of the walk in people that were there before me got taken in. I guess what was the point of appointments if that was the case? The staff was nice, which made up for it. I had an appointment at Stanford for an allergy test. My doctor ordered me a blood test to be done at quest diagnostics since it's so close to my house. I arrive for checking in and for some reason they don't have an order for my blood test. My doctor sends a fax copy of the order and they don't receive it. We print out an email and submit it but then the receptionist leaves for her shift. I end up waiting for almost an hour. They (Rema and other staff) never checked on me or even checked the email from my doctor. I eventually walked out. (There was only two others waiting with me and both got helped before me) read more
