Just an update regarding my Quest Diagnostics lab work. Andrea was my phlebotomist today and she was fantastic. A very pleasant person who listened to my concerns regarding making sure to take my blood draw from my hand and not my forearm due to challenges with finding a "cooperative" vein on my arm. I was surprised and glad that Andrea remembered me from my previous visit and was already getting ready to draw my blood from my hand. Andrea is the phlebotomist of choice for me. Thanks! read more

I spent a half hour waiting after my appointment time before I gave up and went home--I was fasting and super hungry. There was a room full of angry customers. No receptionist there go say when I would get my tests done (they dry walled over that sometime in the last year). I had to take my girlfriend to UCSF later that day for her radiology appointment and happened to pass by their blood testing center. No crowds, no waiting, and no anger. No chance I'm putting up with Quest again. A big FU to that corporation. I'm moving on ;-) read more

I had an appointment and was pulled in straight away. My orders were missing items. I called my dr, and the tech said I had to wait in the waiting room. Understandable. The dr said they did send them, but they'll fax again. (Somehow quest is always missing pieces of orders). The frustrating part is I asked two techs if they received it. I finally got confirmation 40 min after they sent them! The fax was timestamped. The techs are sooooo slow. Such long turn around time. All other locations have been busy but fast, efficient and nice. The tech that helped me was so rude. read more

We have an appointment at 12:10 pm and we just walked in the door on time when the technician April called Carlos & we said we are here - she didn't let us check in in the machine in front of the lobby. Upon checking in her screen my husband was not the Carlos she had on que it was the gentleman on the waiting room who has a 12:20 appointment. She assumed and didn't let us check in and when another tech called us I asked why are they not following the appointments and they said " I don't know". Then April went to our room and started yapping she was very aggressive and I couldn't take how she was talking to me and my husband blaming us for the misunderstanding. Terrible process. They made a mistake, so we had to do another at home test. They said we could just drop off the sample, but neglected to say that we needed to book a whole new appointment for a drop off. We were forced to register and wait as a "drop in". There was no warning that the office is closed due to the short staff from the online web. No communication whatsoever. It had also said that it would open the next day at normal hours. Showed up at 7AM sharp and left at 7:30 with no one there still even though it had said opening time was 7AM. The lack of communication is frustrating. read more

I would rate this as 0 stars They treat patients rudely I had an appointment at the MP facility and when I got there it said they had closed and I should go the the San Carlos address. When I got there awaited 2 hours and when I finally reached the top of the list they said sorry go home. No offer to reschedule or anything. I was in medical need of the draw and there was no other place with an appt for several days. It was just as well because the place was messy and the entire staff was highly stressed. I usually visit a different Quest location, but I couldn't get an appointment. I tried this location in San Carlos. I was very pleased with the facility and technician. There's plenty of parking on the street and in their lot. I had an appointment so I did t have to wait long at all. I like their checkin process and it's pretty easy to do online or at the machine when you arrive. The technician that took my blood was very nice and well trained. read more

I was referred by HireRight a employer background screening agency. The team at HireRight has a website that lets you pick a place and appointment to complete the drug panel. Quest diagnostics showed up as an option and had availability. There was no notice of site closure. I arrived at their office and the sign on the door stated they were closed until December 4 due to staff shortages. I dug deeper and as I researched jobs at quest diagnostics in San Carlos, there were no jobs in the company & the company was not hiring. This is very sad... this is a sign of economic downturn. Stupid priorities - I had an early am appointment - they were actually running ahead of time - you can see the patients' first name and appt. time. They took the person in the queue before me about 10 minutes early. I thought great, they'll take me next. Instead they take a walk-in ahead of me. I stated my appt was next so I should be. I have been using Quest Diagnostics on Laurel street for about 10 years now. In the last few years the service has gone down hill, much of it most likely due to Covid restrictions, however, that's not the case now,but the experience is worse than during Covid I want to say that it's not the fault of the individual phlebotomists, but the higher ups in management need to hear this although they most likely don't read yelp reviews. The last few times I went there the phlebotomists seemed as if they were overworked as a couple of times there were only one or two working, having to service 60+ people in a day, Yesterday was the last time I will go there. I arrived at 10:20 for a 10:30 appt after checking in on the App. When I walked in , all chairs were taken and many people standing. Some were walk ins but majority had appointments, One of the staff came out and announced they were 20 minutes behind, Some had been there since 10 am and it was then 10:35. Finally at 10:50, one of the phlebotomists came out and announced that everyone in the waiting room had to leave because they were going to lunch and we should come back in a hour. At that point there were at least 7-8 people in the waiting room. This is unacceptable, especially when most of us had been fasting all morning, I don't think they cared that they were inconveniencing everyone because if they did they would have at least "staggered" each employees lunch time In order to keep the location open and take care of those that had spent a good part of their morning in the waiting room. I ended up going over to PAMF in San Carlos where they don't take appts and was in and out within 15 minutes. When I told the phlebotomist at PAMF what had happened at quest, she said she was not surprised as they have been getting many patients coming in that formerly used Quest. read more

I went here about a month ago. I made an appointment online and arrived on time. There were maybe 6 people waiting when I got there. I checked in on the electronic kiosk. I saw at least two employees in the few minutes I was waiting and was soon called to see a phlebotomist. She was very nice and drew my blood painlessly and efficiently. During these scary times of the COVID-19 pandemic, my doctor asked me to get my labs done. I was very hesitant at first, but knew I needed to do it. So he sent me here to Quest Labs in San Carols. I came about 30 minutes before closing. I was nervous that I would not be able to get my blood work done if they were busy, but when I got there this place was a ghost town. There were 3 staff members there and one other patient. I came in and had to yell "HELLO!" before anyone came to help me, granted it was not even a big office. Finally when a lady came to help, she took forever trying to access my file. She said something about my doctor not putting a code in correctly so she couldn't do my bloodwork. She then asked for help from another staff member who was in a rush to leave who kinda solved the issue (emphasis on kinda). The lady then proceeded to poke me to take my blood and boy did it hurt! I mean I am not exactly new to this as I have just given birth to a beautiful baby girl so I've had my fair share of blood being poked out of me and I am telling you this lady is NOT gentle at all. At this point, I just wanted this all to be over already. She finally finished 2 vials later. Eek! If I can help it, I probably wouldn't come back here! read more

Upon arrival many people were already complaining about an hour of waiting. Even with reservations there is a wait and it seems that there are only two employees on staff. The front desk receptionist commented that she has already called in for help to no avail. Talking to others who had been waiting, they had waited 45 minutes while the waiting screen had estimated 5 minutes. I'm unsure of other Quest Diagnostics locations but this one needs lots of improvements if they care about their patients at all. 1) Hire more employees or set up a backup plan to be able to process your testing in a diligent manner. 2) Have your employees be more transparent as to why processes are taking so long. Currently, they are only apologizing and although that is appreciated, I feel well explained reason will best quell those who feel they are wasting their time. 3) The sign in screen does not allow scanning 4) Work on your time estimations to better give your patients knowledge on how much time they will need to wait. read more

The best bloodwork experience I've had. They're pros, I didn't feel the needle at all, super efficient with the prick and draw. I was legit amazed. They're also super friendly and try to lift the mood despite the moody people or people scared of needles (like me!!!). I noticed that it's only run a single employees every time. Makes me feel bad for them because These ppl are getting bad reviews. They're going right after the other and not able to manage check in. They're just trying their best. Hope people have more compassion. We should put the blame on the company owners or managers who aren't hiring more staff to help them. I won't be surprised if they get burnt out one day read more

7:20 am appointment no one here! I'm on time even early as a curtesy... are you kidding me? Now 5 mins past my appt after I followed the check in procedures on the reminder text they sent me. Lights off door locked so unless they are sticking a needle in my arm before they open the place I will be late for my next appt ! So inconsiderate and unprofessional! System is a hot mess. Showed up at San Carlos for a walk in - checked on line and it confirmed it was open. Arrived to find it was closed for a month. Tried to make appt on line for San Mateo - but they do not provide appts times on line so I have to call and communicate with a robot - It literally too 10 minutes for the robot to recognize the spelling of my name Finally managed to get an appt. Literally have no words. I have to come here often and every time I am in shock at how little they regard customer service. They open at 7...at 7:05 they see that we're outside in the cold and don't think to open the door to let us in. I was spoken to once in 45minutes I was waiting. I had an appointment at Quest San Carlos today. I work for a physician so I know the protocol we follow and that most physician offices follow for patients in this difficult time. Unfortunately Quest didn't follow these protocols. There was no questions asked regarding my health or possible symptoms of COVID-19. My temperature was not taken outside and there at least 4 people in the waiting room. People were jut coming and going. While standing outside for 10 minutes there was at least 8 people walking in and out I asked why my temperature wasn't taken and they said they do, but we're too busy. The only reason I'm posting this is for the health of this community. I hope they will be more careful in the future. read more

Terrible customer service, no kindness towards seniors, and completely rude when answering any questions. One of the persons there yesterday even told me that they deal with 100 patients a day so they're extremely busy. Briefly: terrible and unprofessional staff I have pregnancy (7 months) and my ob/gyn told me to visit Quest Diagnostics to have a glucose tolerance test (OGTT). I scheduled the test in San Carlos location, on May 10 2013. There were a few things I noticed/were happened in this lab during my visit: 1) There was no soap in a bathroom. I wonder how the staff washes hands before returning to work then? They can easily infect somebody if continue to brake hygiene rules. 2) The description paper my doctor gave me says, I quote:'' The lab will immediately test your fasting glucose level'','' The lab will immediately test your 1 hour glucose level''. The key word here is ''immediately''. And the thing is, maybe I wouldn't need to take a blood samples all 3 times, if the results were checked immediately how the paper says. But I've been told that the results will be ready on next week only. 3) And the main thing. Instead of 3 injections, I got 4 of them, because the staff was not professional. And the blood samples were taken in a wrong way because my arms were acing after it and I still (after almost 2 weeks gone!) have bruises on the places where blood samples were taken! I'm totally disappointed and don't understand why it's so hard to do such a simple thing in the right way! I'm expecting a baby and I am shocked with absolutely not professional employees, who doesn't wash their hands in the way it should be, who violates the procedure rules and who even can't take a blood sample without making a damage to my health. read more

Awful awful awful in every way. They overbook and are ALWAYS behind in their appointments. They have no one to check you in or even ask a question. I understand you're busy, but the way they treat patients is also horrendous. A mother with a son with disabilities had an appointment and was waiting for an hour. Totally fine as far as diagnostic labs go. I've come here for a few blood tests. Relatively fast and efficient, relatively painless, people were friendly and nice enough. Pro tips - make an appointment, and you should be seen within ~10 minutes of your appointment time (versus a possibly hour+ wait). Also, if any of your labs need to be sent out in the mail, you need to get them done before 11 AM. read more

Caveat: we have a complicated health scenario requiring frequent pediatric blood draws. When we started at this location, all was good; staff was pleasant and helpful and took the time to work with us and educated us when we needed to conduct multiple draws for a single order based on weight. However, over time, the quality of the staff has decreased: new employees every time we visit (2-3 months) and employees seemingly unconcerned about helping to manage a child's anxiety with blood draws. The focus seems to be on doing what's easiest for them, not what's good for a patient. If you need to do a pediatric draw, especially on an order with multiple draws, I recommend PAMF or Lab Corp as this scenario is too complex for these folks and they'd prefer to not make the time to work with you on it. read more
