Do not even consider coming without an appointment. They say they take walk ins but won't take you unless there's a no-show.

This place is the worst, go elsewhere if you can. Waiting room is an awful experience and cesspool of potential diseases.

Lalin was super helpful in making me feel comfortable and accommodating to my anxiety around getting my blood drawn.

The nurse / tech performing the blood draw had issues finding the vein. They had to use both arms. Even then, they use the needle on the extraction device to probe in, out, and around in each arm multiple times. 7 times in the right arm. 4 times in the left arm. With success only in the left arm. The blood draw experience at this site, with that person is different from almost every other experience in a clinic, hospital, or blood donation site. With other nurses / techs being able to easily find the vein. Historically, I have given blood test samples in over 60 various office visits, and blood donations of 19 pints over my life. So I have more than a few experiences to compare LabCord San Mateo against. Outside of the blood draw, the staff at the San Mateo location was both pleasant and professional to deal with. The front office and draw rooms were both neat and clean. With the site location signage easy to see and understand. The office location itself was easy to find. With plenty of parking available. If I use LabCorp San Mateo again then I will likely ask for a different nurse / tech to perform the blood draw. Otherwise I give LabCorp San Mateo a "Definite Maybe" for my recommendation. Maybe that will change in the future.

Quest Diagnostics - Helping out my dad

This place has real customer service. I was so happy…read more I had to take my Dad for some blood work. So we picked here since it was really close to where he lives now. They have street parking. Which we got right in front. It is on it's own little side street so at the light make sure you go into the strip mall like or you will miss it. We got a spot right in front. Use the kiosk to check in since it wasn't for myself. Otherwise they usually text you and you check in from your phone. We sat down and soon they called our name. it's small inside maybe 4 stalls along a hallway. There were only 2 workers this day. We sat in the second stall and they lady said she had a draw from his primary doctor but this was supposed to be from a secondary doctor. I had authorization on my phone but I didn't print it out. My mistake. I tried to email it to their main server but it didn't work . She gave me her direct email and that didn't work either. The other worker came over and looked at the order on my phone. He gave me his number and i texted it to him. Then he was able to print it out. I thought we were getting away from paper but I just wanted the blood work done. They were both so nice and it was taking awhile so glad they were patient. She was able to draw the blood and all good. Thanks for being thorough and waiting for the order. She said it would take over an hour if they had to fax it from the doctors office since the fax goes to their main office then gets transferred here. Confusing but the key is always have your order in had when doing medical stuff.

I understand scheduled patients are prioritized over walk-ins but simply there was no effort made what so ever to acknowledge the walk-ins in between to squeeze them in . It was simply and ignorance and lack of training . Things were maybe not in their control and they were overwhelmed by appointments, however some communication and acknowledgement should have been exchanged with patients waiting for hours in the waiting room. I think it was simply an ignorance. A patient before me also waiting for 3 hours finally raised her frustrations, then it only initiated a response by a lab tech to call her in.?? What about the rest of us that was waiting as walk-ins. ?? Also, walk-ins opportunity and options should not be an option if appointments were fully booked . There should be a better way to handle walk-ins then to have them wait and not be acknowledged at all. This is just simply being rude !!

A long overdue review. I will need to make it short, but would like to praise Peninsula Hospital…read morefor the very attentive care I received in 2011 for a major surgery. Fast forward to 2022 when I came down with covid - I had a horrendous experience in the emergency room - I could hear staff chatting away as though they were junior high kids at a party in another room. The ER doctor at that time told me I had "severe covid" and needed medication - a medication that had been understood would destroy a person's kidneys in a short amount of time. I refused the medication. I could mention many other concerning things about my treatment in the emergency room that night, but honestly, this review would end up being much too long. The good news is when I was admitted to a room on the 4th floor it was a different staff and they were great. I asked the doctor who came to see me if I had "severe" covid (as the emergency room doc said) and she said, "no, it's mild, but you are dehydrated and your electrolytes are off." Wow, how could one doctor say "It's severe and you need to have medication" (that will cause harm to my kidneys) and the other have a completely different diagnosis? The 4th floor staff took good care of me the remaining days I was there. Then in 2023, I ended up needing emergency room care again, and an xray tech walked in and said he needed a scan of my heart; I reminded him that due to my health situation (from a previous diagnosis) recommends for me to be careful about having too many xrays, and he said in a gruff tone, "Well, I need to do this anyway," and acted like he could care less. It is my understanding that all over our country, the best nurses and medical staff left their jobs because they knew the vaccines were not fully tested and they were being required to get the covid vaccine in order to keep their jobs. It seems the smart ones left and, unfortuantely, I get the impression that they've had to hire less-than-competent staff since then. I'm hope there have been some improvements to staff and training since 2022 and 2023.

Sharing for awareness regarding the care I received during an MRI on 2/19/26 with a technician…read morenamed Mark, avoid if you can: Description of Incident Upon arrival, I informed the staff that I am a "hard stick" and required specific care for IV placement. Despite this: * Substandard Technique: The technician, Mark, failed to examine both arms for viable veins before attempting to prick me. * Physical Harm: Mark made 3 unsuccessful attempts. When I requested he stop after the third painful prick, he was dismissive of my concerns, stating, "I've been doing this for 24 years." This resulted in significant bruising on my left arm. They finally brought in a PICC nurse after that. * Procedure Failure: During the scan, the contrast administration was extremely painful because of contrast flow not being adjusted properly. Furthermore, the contrast did not appear in the initial images. Because of this technical failure, I was forced to return for a second MRI.
