I'm not sure why the low rating and negative reviews. I've been to SimonMed Imaging twice, once last year for a knee CT and again today for a bone scan. Both times my appointments were exactly as scheduled and no waiting. The imaging technician today, Maggie, was very personable, friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable during my scan. I don't anticipate any complications with the forwarding of my results to my doctor since I had no issue after my first visit last year. read more

I used to go here when it was Peninsula Diagnostic Imaging. I regret I asked my doctor to send the MRI here. My insurance states that I don't need prior authorization for MRI. They tell me that it's not approved, even with the doctor's order, but they have their AI call and text every day to schedule an appointment. They were calling and texting more than once a day. It was so annoying that I had to block all their numbers. When I did my mammogram here, they also tried to sell me too many other services I didn't need and wouldn't know how to interpret, and my doctor hadn't ordered. read more

This has been my worst medical visit forever. The staff is not only made a mistake causing me not be able to do the image but also extremely rude and threatening to call security yet there is nothing that on my side was wrong. They are extremely unprofessional and front desk is unbelievable rude and cruel. I came in without an appointment and the lovely woman (don't know her name) signed me in and made sure the technician knew how to do my particular type of x-ray (weird hip positions) - then I went to the x-Ray room and the second woman was so sweet and was laughing with me about positions and we had a great rapport - I feel bad that she's in here alone in a different floor - she's wonderful (again no name I'm sorry) then returned to check in to wait for my CD - the check in woman was so accommodating and nice and I wanted to hug her - I wish I took down peoples names - I found this drop in non-appointment to be very nice and honestly, comforting. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! No way to contact to confirm hours. Website states they do walk in X-rays from 8am - 4:30pm. We arrived early at the San Mateo location alittle bit before 8am.. they didn't open until 8:10am only be greeted by a rude lady, She then stated they don't do X-rays until 2pm. I informed her that their website states 8am. She then RUDELY tells me, it's wrong and the X-ray tech only works in the afternoon.. I asked her what other SimonMed location we could go to and she said she doesn't know and that I should try a hospital! Poor customer service and complete waste of patient time. I tried to call to schedule my daughter an appointment. I was on the phone for 15 minutes with someone in a different state to make an appointment at this facility down the street. It was taking entirely too long and I was repeating myself so many times regarding my information as well as the information on the script. I wanted to see if they had availability that day, but it was taking so long to just get the information in the system. I decided not to do the imaging at this place. read more

They email and text every 3 days "reminding" you of an appointment in 5 weeks and then they also email and text every 3 days to tell you that you haven't scheduled your appointment, when you have. You then call them to confirm everything and someone tells you it's all fine, that you have an appointment but then your doctor gets a letter saying you are negligent in making this appointment and will the dr harass you for them?? I DREAD my mammogram every year not because of the procedure but because of the horrendous scheduling and idiots who work there. Not to mention, after the mammogram you get cryptic results like, "there is a noncancerous area we need to monitor so follow up with your doctor." What does that MEAN?? They couldnt find my insurance, and made me pay upfront for an MRI at $587.26. Then they billed my insurance for $1193 so my claim to my insurance was rejected. How is it possible that the price changed? This is why everyone hates our medical system. read more

Oh dear. This outfit purchased the clinic that had done my mammograms and ultrasounds for years. Owned by physicians, on the premises. I don't know what is happening at this place. I did get a bone density test, but the frantic brusque attitude of the person doing the test did not instill confidence. Still, I thought I'd try again, this time with an annual ultrasound. The appointment had to be made with workers in the Philippines. Now, nothing against these workers. They were polite and efficient. But OMG, so many questions, and having to wait for the phone delay. It felt like a LOT. Many offices that have "automated" have this done online. I would prefer that. So I waited several weeks for my appointment. The night before, it was canceled! Okay, sometimes things happen. But this had just happened to me with another medical outfit, where I was scheduled for a sleep test. WTH. Then I received a text asking me to re-schedule. Again, phone the Philippines. I wasn't going through all that again, especially in light of my experience with the bone density test. I found an e-mail (because the notification was "no reply") and said I do not want another appointment. I will look elsewhere. Then I receive a text. They had made an appointment for me! The next day. No way to indicate "yes" or "no". Only to mess around with the "chatbot". NO WAY IN H-A-I-L, SIMONMED. read more

Simon med bought this practice and it is awful. They rescheduled me 3 time in a month. Also ask for high co-pay, which never makes any sense. They have consistently ask me for a high co-pay and when my EOB comes in, it's always really small. They have yet to refund me Im services in February read more

This was my first mammogram, and the experience was awful. I had a prior scan done at a doctor's office, and when the facility called me multiple times the day before, they confirmed that prior images weren't needed. But after I drove in all the way from the city, they canceled my appointment at the front desk for that exact reason -- no prior images. The staff was rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to admit their mistake. Extremely unprofessional and stressful for a first-time patient. Avoid this place. read more

Do not go here. SimonMed sucks. They suck. They suck!! Why do they suck? - you go through a call center to make your appointment. this call center is terrible. They won't put you in touch with the actual office, they can't work with anything slightly non-standard, THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT IN ARIZONA. - when I finally was able to get to a different radiologist for my needs, the CD they gave me with my records was apparently incomplete. - they BLOW ME UP trying to get me to get MRIs and all kinds of random stuff that my actual doctor didn't think was necessary. I would love to give 5 stars for the actual technician there, but even her kindness and professionalism couldn't make up for how deeply sucky the whole SimonMed experience is. This is the first time I've been in here and I showed up early, because I didn't know the parking situation. Luckily there was a parking spot right in front of the building, but there is actual parking for the building. This might throw you off a little, but you will have to go to the second floor to check in, back to the first floor to do your imaging and back to the second floor to get your CD. What can you do, the world isn't perfect, so get over it. Simone imaging recently acquired this office and they did well. We just meet a very rude and disrespectful receptionist! From the beginning till now during my appointment they gave me a hard time! They changed my appointment for no reason and now Im late a what they said they want me to set another appointment and that receptionist is very rude and not friendly at all! I'm absolutely horrified that they are reusing blankets/sheets that have been used on other patients. I thought it was strange to use an actual blanket and asked if it was used before the tech said yes on other patients. I asked if that's the protocol and they said yes. So disgusting, I can't believe it. It was touching my bare skin & told them to get it off me immediately. The tech was very nice but the company has no sanitary protocol apparently. I have zero income and have recurring pain from open-heart surgery side effects and need an X-Ray. I got a "walk-in-referral" to Simonmed from Healthright 360. My experience trying to get an X-ray with Simonmed: 1. First day showed up the X-Ray machine was down. They don't tell you and you can't find out till you get there. If I was a senior with mobility issues I could be on the bus the entire day just to get turned away and have to do this all over again. 2. I then (as advised) I showed up at a different Simonmed place for a walk-in referral because "all x-rays are walk-ins" but was informed the X-Ray tech only works M/W/F. This information again is ONLY available at the front desk. I knew this as I tried calling and got a circular phone tree that ends up saying "look at the website (that doesn't have the info you need) and then hangs up on you. 3. Came back today and now they want a $145 copay because I'm "not in the system." After a long wait they finally got me in line, but they said "you don't have to pay today" so I guess I'll be waiting for a possible bill that I shouldn't have to pay. I've been here over an hour and I may have to come back AGAIN. All of this for ONE X-RAY. Things used to be different. Am I wrong? I know these are good people but someone up the chain is really making it hard for the front line staff by either being too indifferent or too scared to make waves. I used to run eleven homeless shelters, and my job was to help, protect, train, and be there for my staff (as well as bust out the petty cash for mochas and pastries when they least expect it). Why? Because staff who feel supported and happy are great at their jobs, and that makes good service. Just my opinion. Called weeks prior for an appointment then the day before my appointment said they have to cancel my appointment because whoever their staff made an appointment did not schedule my appointment properly and had to get the right prior authorization from insurance first. So unprofessional! And to top it off Dina said for 4 years this is her job protocol to go over a day before to go down the list of mri patients. How ridiculous is that! SimonMed, in general, is badly run, disorganized, and not worth the hassle at every turn. I finally had an MRI at San Mateo (after they cancelled 3 appointments at different sites at the last minute) - they gave me the CD immediately afterwards, but I found out at the orthopedist's, that the CD was of another patient. They were supposed to have sent the images directly to Stanford, but apparently did not. On calling (difficult to get a human in medical records) while at the orthopedic appointment, they said I (or Stanford ) hadn't provided enough info to send the images via the shared portal AMBRA. If it is a shared portal and Stanford requests these routinely, what is the problem. Incredibly bad management overall. Would never recommend getting an MRI with them. I don't know about other imaging. read more

The phone appointment services just wanted me to come to appointments and gave false promise that they already verified my insurance, and would not bill me as I requested the confirmation before coming. Now their billing department sent me bill for the mammogram screening which I never had to pay for this preventive services so far with my health coverage. I called to remind the appointment services about their promises with customer. The female representative pointed her finger at their own billing department and wanted me to deal it myself! How about your blatantly words to lure customers into your office? Just old bad business conduct. Then she just rudely hung up the phone on me. Terrible phone customer services! Aetna recommend that I go to a cheaper place than Stanford to save money. So I went to SimonMed. The person who did my scan was very nice, but there were issues with the images. My dr kept asking me to bring the CD (vs the digital images from the portal) because they thought they were missing images. I finally brought the CD, which I had to pick up personally because they wouldn't send it to my dr. There was no difference in the number of images. They don't scan everything that would be scanned at Stanford. I may end up paying *more* money to get a good quality scan. read more

The service and appointment scheduling are a nightmare. This is the second time I've tried to use them because they are cheaper than hospital imaging. And it's the second time they've screwed up my info and rescheduled my appointment. Last time it cost me $125 for their mistake so i shouldn't have given a 2nd chance. This time I have a small window of time where the imaging can be done but they rescheduled my appointment without calling me. AVOID SIMON MED at all costs. It's too bad because the onsite staff and doctors are still great like they were when it was peninsula imaging. read more

SimonMed does not even deserve one star. I had the worst booking experience with them for service (bone density test). For the first booking, the technician had a fall, and they called me to reschedule, which I did and made another appointment for the following week. Then, on the rescheduled appointment date, SimonMed called again and told me that the technician was out sick! This was so frustrating... Their team was utterly unreliable and repeatedly failed to keep appointments. read more

The MRI Tech Rhonda was amazing- extremely, genuinely caring & compassionate at her job! She made every equipment that needed to be on me was on snug or correctly such as headphones, brace etc. very on top of everything! She was very gentle positioning me carefully with my arms, back etc. also, was very professional & kind... list goes on of how my appt went excellent with her! I wish other MRI's at a lot of other places I've had were amazing as hers but nothing compares to Rhonda's service here at the San Mateo location of Simon Med Imaging. read more

If you had a mammogram done at Peninsula Diagnostics and need a copy of it, DON'T CALL THEM - unless you love complicated situations with no resolution in sight... GO DIRECTLY TO THEIR OFFICE, second floor, and ask the wonderful receptionists to make you a copy of your previous mammograms - go have a coffee and pastry around the corner, and come back to get your CD. Done. Alternatively, you could call them and end up on their centralized Simon Med call center, wait one hour if you're lucky, or leave one or 15 messages for someone to call you back ...one day... Now, if you DO get someone, go ahead and ask them for a copy of your records. They won't have them. Now they might ask you many questions but will only confirm, in the end, that NOPE they don't have them. They'll even question whether you really had a mammogram done there. If you stay with them long enough, they might transfer you to their Medical Records department. Of course they won't have time to explain your situation so if you didn't record yourself the first time, go ahead and explain everything again, give all your numbers, and get another "no we don't have your records.. are you sure you did them here?..." now in the process, if you mention "Peninsula Diagnostics" enough, one of those many people you speak to may have a lightbulb moment and say "Oh Peninsula Diagnostics!! ok I know what happened.." then they'll explain how Simon Med bought them but that they don't have any of the records - but you could send a Release Authorization form and it'll take 3 weeks (maybe) to get them. The next day, you'll call again, and you will literally talk to the same people and go through the whole shpeel again to confirm they got your release form, and they will not remember a thing about Peninsula Diagnostics, bought by Simon Med, nope no records, did you really have a mammogram with us? Groundhog day... Now this could all be a good story to tell over a boring dinner, but when you've got the pressure of a doctor saying they need your records to compare results or you're going to have to get a biopsy --- not so funny. Does Simon Med care? not really. I spoke to them again, and after waiting long enough finally got to someone explaining I was NOT going to go through my whole situation again - that I wanted to speak with a manager. Poor guy seemed like he wanted to care and said he was going to get a manager for me. I'm waiting.. waiting.. til I say "hello?" and he was still there.. Are you getting a manager? - I'm talking to him now - What do you mean you're talking to him, can't he come on the phone? - no I'm chatting with him - Oh well is he going to call me? -no he's not going to because he doesn't see your records. Basically the manager didn't have the guts to get on the phone with me. Nice. I come to Yelp, and read in the reviews that you can either wait weeks to get the results. OR you can go in yourself to get them -- thank you to whoever posted that! Went in this morning, spoke with Kalo, who was SO SO NICE, who confirmed my previous 4 mammograms were in her system, and that she could get them on a CD for me - would just take an hour. Went down a block, got a pastry and a coffee, came back for my CDs, brought them myself to my doctor, and Voila - If this post can spare 1 person a fraction of the aggravation I got from their ineptitude, totally worth it! read more

Love that we could just walk in after getting an order from my daughter's Dr. went in for complete spine x-rays for my daughter. They are located right across from Mills Peninsula in San Mateo. Didn't have to wait in line or wait to be seen. The front desk staff were engaging and listened to my concerns about my daughter being exposed to x-rays. They called the tech who came up to the front desk and walked us back to X-ray. Explaining the procedure and precautions he would take to protect her. Afterwards he even showed us the images and let my daughter see them and explained how the images needed to be sewn together to show her whole spine. It was interesting. I wish I read all of these reviews before deciding to go Simon Med. I needed to get an MRI of my ankle and Kaiser price was quite a bit higher. Considering my high deductible, I thought it would make sense to do it here. Long story short, I dont' recommend anyone does it. The technician and doctors are ok, but the way this is set up is awful. The only people you would get to talk to would be a call center in the Phillippines and it's not for the faint of heart trying to figure how to get your images from them. I wish I just paid twice the price at Kaiser. read more

This is a review of the San Mateo location, which used to be Peninsula Diagnostic Imaging. What an absolute clustercluck!!!!!! I went for a screening, and they no longer provide parking. But ALL the other medical orgs in that building DO provide parking. You have to park on the street. The day I went, their network was down, so they couldn't verify SQUAT about me. They did perform the ultrasounds I needed, which was good, and the technician was kind and capable. I just wish she had helped me get up off of the exam table at the end rather than dart out the door. I don't have the abdominal strength to pull myself up. I nearly fell to the floor trying to get up. It takes 7-10 business days for the results to get to my doctor. This is a routine test I get annually, so hopefully the results will be negative. I will also say that it took months for them to be at the Friday afternoon appointment I needed, and they rescheduled on me three times before they finally saw me. Very frustrating. Their cancellations were just a couple of days before the ultrasounds. This isn't very helpful when one has to negotiate time off with the workplace. read more

I was very frustrated going in there looking for my previous records from the last place but there she was with a smile on her face ready to help any way she could. She was able to get my records and have them all done in no time. She was pleasant and had a great attitude. She offered her cell number and email if I needed anything else. Definitely will be coming here for any imaging in the future especially the quality of care she had provided to me. read more
