I really wanted to like this Mexican spot, especially since it's right around the corner from my place, but unfortunately, it was awful. I'll start with the positives--the service was great. My server was a really nice guy, attentive and friendly. I also had a soup that became somewhat enjoyable after I squeezed in some lemon. That's about where the good news ends. Everything else? A disaster. I love salt, but the food here was overwhelmingly salty to the point of being inedible. The seafood ceviche was the worst offender, but even the rice and beans were barely edible. But my partner wanted to order take out and wow are we incredibly disappointed. My pork belly taco totally fell apart as soon as I picked it up because this restaurant uses CHEAP STORE BOUGHT TORTILLAS. The kind that get soggy immediately and everything falls through. For a place charging $6.90 for a single taco, they should invest in using a higher quality brand of tortillas or make their own. The brisket arepa was flavorless. No salt. The meat was shredded all to hell and barely any meat inside the arepa at all. It was $18. Total rip off. The patatas bravas were horrible too. Potatoes were dry and flavorless. They prepared the potatoes incorrectly. This place clearly does not have real cooks working. This is amateur level stuff. You can find MUCH better street food versions of what they're doing and at a fraction of the price. This place is a total rip off. I'm not rich. It means a lot to me when I want to spend extra money on a restaurant. And I'm not expecting to be blown away every time, but I am expecting the food to be edible. While visiting my cousin I came upon this suggestion to grab a bite to eat. Boy did Yelp do me right!!! The food here was AMAZING! Course after course it just kept getting better. What's pretty neat is that you place the order yourself, staff then bring it to the table. Their prices are so reasonable and the place itself has some funky decor which I personally love! It's a small space but there were some thoughtful touches I appreciated - artful mirror design in the bathroom, custom 3D textured wallpaper by the entrance. This spot has been on my list for a hot minute but I always end up going somewhere else. I finally went out of my way to come and I was not into it from the moment I step in. The vibe felt so empty. With one "waiter" (the place is automated they only bring you the food) and one cook my expectations went to just hoping to eat something edible. The second red flag was the water. I poured some and swallowed what I can only describe as sewer water. I took a closer look at the container and noticed a bunch of gunk on the inside of the container. The "margarita" was 100% only margarita mix and was barely frozen (more of a watery slush). On top of that being juice again I realized something wrong with the container, the cup was broken. Do they not know you aren't suppose to drink from broken glassware!? Then the "food" came out the "gambas" was a cup of canola oil with a few overly salted shrimps. A spinach dish that claimed to have mushrooms came with one mushroom chopped finely and another ton of salt. The "batatas brava" again were nothing but salt but also the sauce was so off. Very pleased that I finally tried this place. The staff was very welcoming, pleasant and quick! I opted to seat inside and I was very comfortable being a solo diner. However there are booths big enough for 4. They also have outside especially nice now the weather is better. So let me say I played myself for not coming sooner. Orange wine was tasty with my meal. We definitely ordered too much, but had fault with very little here -- the vermouth tasting was amazing and elevated, the tapas were superb (tomatoe bread, yuca balls and croquettas de jamon; the egg rolls were meh), and the arepas were out of this world (the seafood one and the signature beef brisket were phenomenal). We got there and there were only seats at the bar. When someone moved we asked for their table, this seating was better. They do not have menus; they have a QR code which lets you order online. The waiter told us we could order with him as well. We ordered online and when you check in you receive free croquettes. The ham croquettes were ok; the garlic sauce was quite delicious. I ordered a passion fruit frozen margarita and a pork arepa. The margarita was good and I enjoyed it very much. The pork arepa was so delicious; the pork was flavorful and juicy; the sauce in the arepa was the perfect combination because it was a citrus flavored sauce. The arepa itself was well made; an outer crust with a soft inside and the cheese melted. The food is fresh and you can tell they make it the moment you order it. I had two shrimp tacos, one mushroom taco, the asparagus and the spinach. The tacos were small and bland. There are better tacos to be found in Brooklyn especially at such high prices. Try Miti Miti instead for better value and more pizazz. The spinach was decent, though it was made edible only by the included pine nuts and garbanzo beans. The asparagus was inedible. It was not fully cooked and for my teeth, too tough to eat. I have had asparagus prepared many ways over the years, and this is the only time it was too raw to consume. Finally, while the online ordering system was efficient and novel, it was also deeply impersonal. We wondered who we were supposed to tip. The overall feeling was cold and removed. I wished for somebody to just walk up and have a quick conversation. For $80, I think we deserved that. read more

While the arepa was incredibly delicious (can't wait to try another one), I threw away the margarita after a couple of sips. It tasted like pure syrup and icy juice :/. I came here with a friend for dinner and the place was cool. The place was kind of empty so were able to get a seat very quickly. We ordered various is tapas, and everything was really good. We ended up getting a freee tapas because I checked in via yelp, however we couldn't pick the tapa we wanted... they chose. The sangria and Merlot were really good! The service was great, they accommodated us and very attentive. The only thing that really bothered me was the odor of the establishment; when you first enter there's a smell and it sticks on your clothes. I ended up coming home smelling like the restaurant. We ordered delivery and got the Yuka Balls, Picadillo Rolls, and several tacos (Al Pastor, Shrimp, Chicken, Carnitas). The Yuka Balls and Rolls were, for lack of a better term, disgusting, and didn't come with the sauces they were supposed to. The tacos were completely tossed up, mashed together (see photo), as if shaken in a cocktail mixer - no doubt as a result of being packed in a way that's unsuitable for transport. Whatever we could fork together tasted fine, even though it was unidentifiable. There was barely any meat to be found, though. Dined-out here last Friday. We were able to take our food to the Pub next door. Really nice curb appeal with the display of their vast wine collection. I could literally stand all day looking over their wines. Aside from two bottles of wine, we also ordered their house lemonade and margarita. Their Venezuelan tapas style menu seemed very different and intriguing. We ordered four tacos, spinach appetizer and two arepas. Out of all the tacos, the duck pastor really really stood out. Also liked the beef and chicken. My least favorite was the mushroom. Disclaimer, their arepas are HUGE. Like the size of my head. Thick, dripping with garlic aioli and queso, rich in flavor. The two of us got full from half of one arepa. I took the rest home and got 2 lunches out of it. The catalina (spinach) appetizer was a good respite from all the fried dough that we had been eating. Very tasty too! I would come back to try the yucca balls and the lamb chops. Really wished they had some outdoor dining situation going. They do have the sidewalk space for it too.
