Before finding J&L Innovative Flooring, I had already met with four different flooring companies for in-home estimates and had a good understanding of the costs involved. I was actually planning to hire another contractor. On a Friday afternoon, I called J&L Innovative Flooring and spoke with Larissa, the owner. She was out of town until Tuesday, so I honestly told her I didn't want to waste her time since I had already received multiple estimates and was leaning toward another company. She completely understood but offered to give me a general estimate and explain her scope of work over the phone. Shortly afterward, Larissa texted me a detailed estimate and outlined the work she recommended. I then spent time reading through the company's reviews and found countless satisfied customers. That convinced me to schedule an in-home consultation, and our family is so glad we did. When Larissa came out on Tuesday, I asked countless questions about floor preparation, moisture barriers, moldings, transitions, and the installation process. She answered every question thoroughly and emphasized doing everything according to the manufacturer's installation requirements and warranty. It was immediately obvious that she has extensive knowledge and experience. Unlike many contractors--including one I had previously hired--she wasn't interested in taking shortcuts to save time or money. Just by inspecting our existing floor, she recognized that our concrete slab would require leveling. She assured me that concrete leveling (within reasonable limits) was already included in her estimates at no additional charge. That level of honesty and professionalism immediately earned my trust. Our project also had some unique requirements. We needed the installation completed in two phases because one room was being used to store appliances and furniture. I also wanted to use the same flooring system that had protected our home during the slab leak: Bostik MVP4 moisture barrier with Bostik Best adhesive. Although many installers now use newer systems,this was the system I trusted most and to me worth the increased expense. I also wanted to purchase the flooring materials myself because of an existing relationship with a flooring supplier. Larissa happily accommodated both requests. She even contacted several of her own flooring suppliers to make sure I was getting the best possible pricing. She ultimately matched the same discount (never told her the price)I I was receiving on the engineered hardwood and secured excellent pricing on the adhesive and moisture barrier. It's clear she has strong relationships throughout the industry and genuinely looks out for her customers. Her knowledge on various flooring manufacturers is truly amazing. Most flooring contractors will push u into a certain wood manufacturer that they could make the most commission on but with Larissa u can choose whatever you want and she will try to get you the best deal. For the installation, Larissa assigned Enrique, who has more than 20 years of experience. From demolition to floor preparation, installation, and baseboards, Enrique worked with incredible care and precision. He carefully protected our kitchen cabinets and preserved our bullnose stair nosings instead of taking the easy route and replacing them. Our slab required extensive leveling and sanding before installation. Enrique took his time to ensure the subfloor was perfectly prepared and thoughtfully selected the best-looking planks for the most visible areas of the house. That level of planning and attention to detail is something many installers simply don't do because it takes extra time. One thing that really stood out was that Enrique hand-wiped every single plank after installation while working on his hands and knees. That's over 1,600 square feet of flooring cleaned one plank at a time. Watching that level of dedication was truly impressive. Throughout the project, whenever an issue came up, Larissa immediately found a solution. At one point I forgot to order the T-moldings from the flooring manufacturer, and they were on backorder for two weeks. Rather than delaying the project, Larissa leveraged her network to have a custom T-molding made and professionally stained within just two days. It's rare to find a contractor who is knowledgeable, honest, responsive, and genuinely committed to doing things the right way. Larissa and her team exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The overall cost was actually less than we were expecting. The work was completed in May while we were out of town and they were done by the time we returned home. Everything looked amazing but there were some areas that needed to be fixed/redone. Robbie continued to assist us in answering questions on how to clean our new flooring and helped us coordinate the final corrections that needed to be done since the contractor was slow at getting back to us. They came the next morning after Robbie got involved and the fixes were finally completed more than a month later. We absolutely love our new flooring.

Some contractors come one day and dont come back for a couple days - they showed up every day they said they would be here. The crew, Peter and Miguel, worked well together and so they were able to move through the project quickly. The finished product looks great thanks to their attention to detail. Once an installation date was scheduled they made the preparation process easy since they gave me details about what should be doing. On the schedule date 2 workers came, they measured the garage and quoted me baded on their measurements. The workers eyeing were early a d took them less than 4 hours to complete. Once the workers finished they provided instructions for the curing process. These instructions were also emailed and text. It's about 2 week since I hired now and I love how it came out. It's a big change and now I can set my garage how I want it. Definitely recommend this company!!

Carpet City did an amazing job removing the tile but to add insult to injury the flooring we used previously changed size down 1/16 of an inch. So, the Carpet City installers Edgar and Axel had to remove some of our old wood and blend in the new wood at the previous circle to make it all blend. Wow is all we can say. The job is perfection. They took such care in my home and were so respectful and efficient! They assisted with some installation questions I had and got right to work. They were so careful moving my furniture around and I was so touched that they made sure my bed area was cleared at the end of their upstairs workdays so I didn't have to sleep on the couch. They used plastic sheeting to mask off closet and bathroom contents to keep the dust down as much as possible due to the floor leveling process. They set up shop in my garage and at the end of each of the 5 days tidied the work spaces and swept up the garage very thoroughly. F and L..... thank you so much. Walter is a true CRAFTSMAN, not just some guy who works for a chain who wants to convince you to…read morebuy their product. We did a reface of our cabinets and Walter was the right guy to do it! Walter worked with us to pick the right product and colors. We went with Shinnoki real wood veneer panels. They are beautiful and durable. Once they got the veneer up, they routed then hand-filed all of the openings. Then that meticulously painted the face frames to match the veneer. They even painted around the drawers where you can see very little of the painting they did. That shows a lot of pride! Walter also gave us the look of frameless cabinets even though we would have had to replace the cabinet boxes in order to make them frameless. That's a lot of extra work. We got a custom job for less than the price of a non-custom job. In the photos you can see the detail I'm talking about. I've included before and after pictures. The before pictures are all dark, ugly drawers and doors. The after pictures are the modern, two-tone look. In one photo in which I have a drawer pulled out with hot pads in it, Walter designed that and made it fit. There was not a drawer in there before because it's under the stove and the gas line was in the way. But Walter moved it. Walter's very conscientious and not afraid to tell you if he thinks something is not going to look good. He'll do whatever you want, but we learned that he knows what he's talking about. He identified the issue quickly and highlighted the lazy workmanship from our kitchen installers (Taranto Construction, Inc in Claremont, CA) who were subcontracted through Lowe's (who we purchased our kitchen from). The shelves collapsed because of loose screws from lazy installers at Taranto Construction, Inc. It's infuriating to have to pay someone to come solve an issue that goes back to completely loose screws in the hardware that would've taken an extra 5 seconds to properly tighten at the initial install. But they know people won't see it, so they cut corners. DO NOT EVER USE TARANTO CONSTRUCTION INC in Claremont CA for a kitchen install, or any Lowe's in the surrounding area, as this is who they refer the work to. After spending a short amount of time with Walter, it's clear he knows what he is doing and is a professional. He even tightened and adjusted other cabinet doors in our kitchen he noticed issues with that had nothing to do with the cabinet shelves he came to fix. He was a very nice guy and I was glad I called him. Thank you very much.

I simply abhor having to pen a negative review about a business and it's owner that we had chosen…read moreto trust to act for our expressed benefit. However, if a single person takes the requisite time to read this review and heeds to what I am about to delineate, the value of this review will have served it's designed intent. First and foremost, if you should decide to go with Rustico Renovations, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING (down to the smallest detail) because, even if David promises you a something (an anything), if it is not in writing, he will claim that his promises were "never part of the contractual deal." In brief, you're screwed! if he asks you to trust him--DON'T!!! His spoken words appear as empty and meaningless as the promises he crafts out of them. David is charming. There is no question about that, but he is a TOTAL shill, dripping with pleasantries and "trust me's" and way many "group hugs" to boot. As aforementioned, get every little detail in writing, because David appears incapable of rising to the crown of his spoken word. A few examples? Oh sure--why not? David promised (in word, not in writing) that our new baseboards would be painted by the subcontractor before they were installed. Not only did I end up having to paint them, in order to move the project along, he charged us for the work I performed, and we had to pay for the paint. The same held true for the wall one of his subcontractors repaired and was supposedly "paid" to paint. Once again, in order to move the project forward, I ended up painting both the wall and the trim, and we had to buy all the paint. Yet, he still charged us for both the paint and my labor. His original "spoken" promise was that of assuring us that the project would only take a week. But then, it got pushed into 2 weeks, due to his mis-measurements and mis-calculations which, once again, we were led to have to pay for. The reason why I ended up painting the baseboards, the better portion of the repair that was repaired and the trim was simply because I did not want his "promise" of 1 week to stretch into 3 weeks, where our project appeared to be heading. When one of his subcontractors discovered a leak behind our pedestal sink, he and I made a deal for him to return back and resolve the problem for $150.00. When David got wind of "our deal", even though it was NEVER a part of the original contract, he not only called up this subcontractor and act to ream his ____, but had the audacity to call me up and demand that I go through him for EVERYTHING. Apparently, David not only thinks he owns his subcontractors, but his customers. Okay . . . There did appear a few glitches and some inconveniences here-n'-there but, as aforementioned, their workmanship was spot on. Reiterating: Get everything in writing (to the detail). Expect delays. Expect to pay more for David's inability to take proper measurements or live up to his spoken word. If there is a something extra you discover you want fixed or repaired, once you project is set in motion, find a handyman to take care of it at a reasonable cost. Otherwise, you will pay waaaaay more than what the repairs are actually worth. And, good luck with your project!

My husband and I had a loose idea of what we wanted, but we're not designers. So, we appreciated Ramon's background in custom design. Also, we NEVER had an issue getting in touch with them if we had a question. Once demo started, Ramon and Jessica were very involved. Ramon was at the house almost every day and he made sure to check in with us throughout the process to make sure we were all on the same page. We even made a few changes right in the middle of the process, but Ramon and Jessica were always happy to work with us. They also made it very clear what modifications they could make and stay within our strict budget. Of course, we ran into a few bumps, but we are extremely happy with the way Ramon worked through any concerns or issues we had. That's huge! When we're ready for our bathroom to get a facelift, we'll be calling them.
