My co-workers and I wanted some Mexican for dinner so we decided to give this place a try. The staff was friendly and stayed on top of making sure we had everything we needed. The food was very filling and delicious. I ordered something with steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, rice, and mixed vegetables. I got cheese dip on the side to pour over the food once I mixed it up and it was great. The ambiance was very causal and smelled very good when I walked in. I'd definitely go back!! read more

As part of our quest to try all of the Mexican restaurants in Williamsburg, we ate at La Terraza on Richmond Road. The restaurant interior is a good size with lots of wooden booths and a bar. It has a bright and clean setting. For drinks, we had a mojito and a horchata. The mojito was a little too sweet for me. My husband was well pleased with his horchata. While we had our drinks, they provided chips and salsa for the table and offered to refill them too. They have a large menu. For dinner we had the Fajita Taco Salad, which was filled with steak, chicken and shrimp. I had to bring some home it was such a generous serving. We also had a combo platter that included rice, beans, a taco, a burrito, and an enchilada. Again, a large serving. Prices are really reasonable for the food and ok for the drinks. Service was friendly and efficient, with staff coming by to check on us and then clear our plates and offer boxes for the food we couldn't finish. Parking is right out front and free. read more

This was my first visit to this, yet another Mexican restaurant, in Williamsburg. Our party of 5 included two children and Fernando A. provided friendly, attentive service throughout the meal. While the menu was extensive I went with my "standby" Fajita Taco Salad with a mix of steak & chicken (see photo). At about $12 this was a good value but the steak strips were definitely overcookedand chewy...a frequent and unfortunate issue in this dish. My friends enjoyed the portions, taste and value of their meals while the restaurant accommodated meals for the children easily. Overall, my first visit to La Terraza was very positive, especially in terms of service, prompt delivery, cleanliness and menu. I don't yet have a favorite Mexican restaurant in town, but this one would definitely be in the running. Give it a try. We'll be back. read more

The place is very clean. We had a chicken enchilada good quality meat and flavor. The beans are made the right way (with lard) that is what makes a good refried bean. I got a little concoction going. After the complimentary chips and salsa I ordered Spanish rice (very plain) and quacamole and street corn. This corn was the tastiest! I had the rice and layered some salsa, guacamole, corn & gobbled that right up! We got a flan, mediocre. The salsa had no heat but I suppose that's a personal preference. read more

Our monthly Ladies luncheon was hosted here and one server helped all of us, a group of about 15, some specifying what they wanted removed from the pre set menu. So amazing that she was able to get our drinks then rolled a cart out with our meals. I had a fajita chicken meal which came with three flour tortillas, a huge mountain of beans; I had requested black beans along with rice, pico de gaio, and sour cream. I also ordered supper to go, tacos birria with jus, and tacos pastor. Later on we feasted on the reheated tacos which were delicious. My family and I visit this La Terraza location on Richmond fairly often and typically enjoy the food. However, we visited the other day and were extremely disappointed. The Don Jose (carnitas burrito) barely had any meat it was drenched in toppings and sauce and hardly any rice or meat. The meat in the birria tacos were dry but the tortillas were soggy. The table side fresh guacamole was horrible. They used old avocado and tried to mask it with extra lime. It was BAD! read more

One of the best fajitas I have ever had. Cut, seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was lovely, quick, and attentive. Food came out brisk and hot. Complimentary chips, salsa and horseradish sauce. Table-side guacamole is never my favorite due to it not being chilled. Definitely need to add more spice to the guacamole, salsa, and queso. The refried beans were delicious. The rice was a little dry but I love how they incorporated peas and corn (just 8 pieces don't worry). I understand the salt and pepper shakers are authentic but it was so difficult to get the salt out due to the rice covering the holes so I hope they can find some middle ground with at least the salt shaker. This is a personal and family to-go Mexican restaurant in the Williamsburg area. The food tasted fresh, even once it was brought back home. I highly recommend trying their guacamole, it has a beautiful hint of lime that other restaurants can not perfect. Was visiting Williamsburg and craving for some good Mexican food . Thank god , we chose la terraza. Unbelievable is the word. The food was so so so so good and not so expensive too. We started off with fresh guacamole made by them:l. A guy came to table and made it live. This is probably one of the best gaucs I have ever had . So fresh and amazing taste. They also give chips and salsa as a compliment. Make sure u don't have too much of it , as it can fill ur tummy ;) dinner food was awesome . Chicken fajitas was out of the world. Veg chimichanga was super. Quantity was a lot for a person. We ordered 3 dishes for 4 persons and we still couldn't finish:) fantastic service and quick food . Stopped at this restaurant during a recent trip to Williamsburg, because it was right between W&M and our hotel and seemed to have vegetarian options--which they did! They have an expansive vegetarian menu, which I really really appreciated. Another awesome thing here is the service. Everyone was so friendly and they were able to seat us outside right away, no wait. The salsa that came with the pre-food chips was delicious. Unfortunately, my enchiladas were not as good. Don't get me wrong! They were fine. They weren't bad, and I did finish my plate. However, they were painfully underseasoned. The beans and spinach were so bland that if I took a bite of them without the tortilla or cheese on top, I couldn't even taste any salt. It was pure, unadulterated bean. (And spinach.) The guac that came with the enchiladas was similar - not great on its own. When I mixed everything together with generous toppings of queso (and helped myself to some fajita veggies from my mom's plate) the meal vastly improved. But I would have loved for the enchilada fillings to have some--any--spice. Stars are for service and salsa! read more

We were staying in the area and decided to try this place. They were going to close in an hour so we decided to just do takeout. I got a burrito with shrimp in it and it was amazing. It was also huge. The Spanish rice was amazing. The only downfall to the meal was the flan. They put it in a container for hot food which I found weird. I dunno if my flan was this texture in the beginning or it got cooked by the warm food since it was all in the same bag, butttt it was prob the worst flan I've had. The value of the food is great, you get a lot of food for the price. The rice and beans were delicious!! A lot of Mexican places I've been to have lacked in the flavor department, but this place is different. The horchata was crazy sweet and bland at the same time, I recommend getting any other drink on the menu. I love horchata so I was quite disappointed, especially considering it cost about $5. We wanted Italian tonight so we called this reaturant. The order was placed, Grub was to deliver. It was delivered in reasonably time and a lit t le warm. No complaints with Grub Hub. As far as the salad, it was loaded with delicious ingredients that I have never seen before. The refried beans were tasty and cooked right. The rice was soft as compared to others who seem to always serve hard gritty rice. Now the Fajita, that was a different story. It rated fifty-fifty to me. The vegatables were cooked fine, but the steak, Fifty % was burnt so bad, I had to seperate it out of the the other and dispose it. The other1 fifty percent that was cooked right in order to salvage it from the eatable meat. The Wife had a Tacco Salad and she was quiet satisfied.
