A few hours later my keyboard and trackpad started glitching. Panic mode. I jumped on Yelp because I didn't have time to roll the dice at the Apple Genius Bar and potentially lose a full day. I needed my laptop for school work that was due the next day. That's when I found Joseph. Calling him a computer repair guy feels disrespectful. He's more like a laptop surgeon! We sat down and he thoroughly inspected everything, explained exactly what liquid damage does internally, and broke it down in a way that even a non-tech person like me could understand. He used simple analogies to explain why certain components fail after spills, which honestly made the whole situation feel less overwhelming. Because I was on a tight deadline, he moved fast. He replaced the top case so I could get up and running immediately. We're calling that "Phase 1" -- basically a strategic band-aid so I could meet my deadline. I'll be going back next week for a deeper repair and full internal assessment once I have more time. What impressed me most: * Clear communication * Honest recommendations (no upselling) * Quick turnaround * Confidence without ego And yes -- he operates out of his home garage. Don't let that throw you off. It's basically a science lab in there. I was genuinely impressed by the level of equipment and Apple parts he had. It felt more like a specialized workshop than a random garage setup. I live on the Westside of LA and made the drive and I'd absolutely do it again. When you find someone competent and trustworthy, distance doesn't matter. If you're dealing with liquid damage, keyboard issues, or any MacBook emergency, Joseph is the real deal. Professional, smart, efficient, and genuinely cares about getting you back up and running. Highly recommend.

I just wanted to share the results: As you can see in the photo, my new display was labeled as a "genuine Apple part." Garnik, the owner, exceeded every expectation. I dropped off my PC at 10 AM and he had it completely diagnosed and fixed by 3:30 PM - same day service when most shops would have kept it for days. But what really impressed me was how Garnik actually took the time to explain everything instead of just doing the work and handing it back. He didn't just slap on new thermal paste and call it done. He properly reapplied the paste, then noticed my fan configuration was all wrong and moved everything to the correct CPU pump headers and fan headers. He walked me through exactly what was causing the thermal problems and how he fixed them, then stress tested the whole system right in front of me so I could see it was running properly. Garnik was super knowledgeable, friendly, and got everything done way faster than I expected. It's honestly rare to find someone who knows their stuff this well and actually takes the time to make sure you understand what's going on with your build. If you need PC repair, building, or troubleshooting in the area, definitely check out HeliX PC. Best experience I've had with a PC shop hands down. Will be coming back for sure!

CUE Garnik and HeliX PC. I called on a whim and not only was he friendly and helpful over the phone, but he immediately diagnosed the problem when I showed up and thought of an innovative fix that wouldn't involve me needing to buy a brand new graphics card. He tells you potential price ranges up front, gives you a variety of solutions, and is kind and friendly while he does it.

Yay, I'm the first. And I'm a gigantic fan…read more I first found Eddie's Computers seven months ago or so, while doing some online shopping to help a friend who wanted to buy a computer setup for her kids. It was time for them to have their own machine. But she didn't want to spend an arm-and-a-leg on it. I found Eddie's shop on Craigslist. It seemed too good to be true. $120 for a complete set up -- box, flat screen monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers? I called. It seemed legit. We buzzed out the 170 to Sylmar (tip: 170 to San Fernando Mission Rd. to a left on San Fernando Rd. to a L on Astoria. Make your first left once you're on Astoria, then a L onto Berg). He operates out of his garage. But what a garage! It's full of used desktops, monitors, and other peripherals. We told him what we wanted, and Eddie -- a stocky Latino guy who knows his stuff -- dug out a used HP desktop, Viewsonic 19" monitor, and the promised peripherals. Word loaded already, and XP operating system. Plus anti-virus and a few other programs. And not a junky box, either. More than 1 gig of RAM, and a big hard drive, too. Everything worked. $120 changed hands -- cash only, I think. And now, seven months later, it's still working perfectly. Can you spell B-A-R-G-A-I-N ? Then today, my own Dell Optiflex desktop wouldn't boot. I suspected a power supply problem.Called Eddie. He said bring it out. He was there. (I think he's always there!). He tested the power supply, which had gone bad. Looked around for a used one to replace it. (He'd told me $20 to do the replacement.) He didn't find one. He could have sold me another box, and I would have bought it, but at the last minute he went into the back and dug around some more. Back there, unearthed another older Dell, which he raided for its power supply for me! Everything got connected, and booted fine. But Eddie wasn't happy with the speed of boot, so he went into the system controls for me and de-listed some programs from automatic startup. That worked, too. Twenty dollars for part and labor. Are you kidding? B-A-R-G-A-I-N! So I can't recommend this dude highly enough. He seems to be open seven days, and well into the evening. Bonus: this part of Sylmar and San Fernando have some hellified Salvadorean restaurants. Get some pupusas while you're out there. Oh! Travel time from Studio City to his place? Under twenty minutes with no traffic. I timed it. JCBF: For any and all computer needs.

The minute you walk in until the minute you walk out. This is a BIG store. 2 stories. Has an elevator, escalator and 2 bathrooms. On this visit we were looking for a phone charger for my son's I-phone 13. An employee helped him find exactly what he was looking for and the price was affordable. $27.40 (including tax). As he was shopping for his charger, I was on the 1st floor looking for different styles/labels of vacuums and microwaves. Sarvin and Kelly were very helpful showing me different models of both appliances. They were a tad expensive for our budget. The last vacuum that we got from here is almost 10 years old. We will definitely return to see if they have anything that costs a little less. They do have some sales items which is a plus. It's a very nice, clean store with plenty of parking all around. 10/10.
