Chicken and pork
Trendy D.

It was alright. The meat was very dry and the food had nothing special to it. Honestly, the only thing they do better than Senor Ramon is the way they make their tortilla. I ordered the chicken and Carne Asada. They have a little salsa bar. Also, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My bf got the carne asada and chorizo.

It's been a while since I've been to La Taqueria. Although I did not try the steak tacos this time. I wanted to give this restaurant another try. I had the BF chilaquiles, a very flavorful and very generous portion. Great taste and value. I also had a carnitas taco and was delicious. Service is always great. I'm happy to increase my rating for them.

Really cute restaurant! The food was so delicious and the people were so kind! It was very pricey especially for the chips and guacamole but they're new so I guess it makes sense. Tastes really authentic and clean, really amazing food

Delicious tacos, quick service, fresh salsa, fair prices. We got 6 tacos to share and all were delicious. Our favorites were the al pastor and chorizo. We loved the salsa and toppings bar as well. Highly recommend this place for a quick meal!

Wow! These tacos are beyond delicious. Do yourself a flavor and make it a point to feed yourself something amazing today!!!

Meats are tasty, but a little bit dry. Like that they use corn tortillas. Salsas for the tacos were good, but nothing memorable. Chips and guac were very good. Bottom line is these are good, not great street tacos. Certainly a good option to have with a brew from nearby Dynasty Brewing West.

I checked out La Taqueria on their grand opening on Cinco de Mayo. It was good! This is a humble taco shop that delivers on flavor and authenticity. The al pastor taco was my favorite- I wish I had gotten three of those. I also got a carna asada gringa, which is basically a quesadilla, and the chips and guac. The amount of chips was very small- like the kids size at Chipotle- but the guacamole was excellent! Smooth and fresh with a hint of fresh lime zest. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Service was a little slow, but that's understandable for a new restaurant. It wasn't very busy when I went, but I imagine they could get backed up if they were busy. It's pretty small inside, but there are plenty of places to sit. With people it can get pretty loud, but the porch seating is much quieter. The only downsides were that I ordered my taco sans onion, and it came with onion, and the amount of chips in the chips & guac was small. Overall, I enjoyed it and I'll definitely be back with more friends!

Rice and no meat!

Ok I understand that there are not that many Mexicans, I am assuming but this place is not good. And let me state that yes I am Mexican. The food with no flavor and the salsas were watered down. My birria burritos was made of white rice, some lettuce and a small line of meat (hair line). First, birria is not served with white rice. Am just saying. But that was not the problem it was a tortilla full of rice!!!!When I brought it up to their attention since the menu picture reflects a burrito full of meat. The cook was upset poked his finger in my burrito to move all the rice around and found a string of meat and said "there it is". He made me a new one and it was the same thing. A tortilla with white rice and a couple of strings of meat maybe .002 oz of meat. Horrible and there is a sign outside that claims best food. Hell no. The owner was a cook, that was a disappointment overall. I was there with other friends and they were unsatisfied. But it's up to them to review.

Actual carnitas! If you have had street tacos in Mexico or the western US these are spot on. Guacamole is 5 stars!

Had the tofu tacos. Very happy to have vegetarian tacos as an option but there was minimal flavor and minimal toppings to provide crunch.

I rate restaurants within their category and concept. I am not comparing a neighborhood Mexican…read morerestaurant to a Michelin star fine dining experience. If a place delivers quality food, represents its cuisine well, and exceeds expectations for its setting, that earns a high rating from me. We recently visited Casa De Avila in Leesburg, and I have to start with the horchata because it was truly the star of the meal. I am of Mexican heritage, my mom is Mexican, and I grew up drinking homemade horchata. This one tasted just like it should. It was creamy, clearly made with milk and condensed milk, with that soft sweetness and a gentle hint of cinnamon. It honestly tasted homemade, and that alone made me smile. Now, it is hard for me personally to give most Mexican restaurants 5 stars, and that has more to do with my background than the restaurant itself. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and grew up eating incredible home cooking from my mom, who is an amazing cook. That naturally shapes my expectations. In the DMV area, it has been tough to find truly authentic Mexican flavors. With the exception of La Jarochita, and Mancha Cocina Mexicana, which is more elevated but very well done, good Mexican food can be hard to come by here. All that said, Casa De Avila serves very good food and is probably the best I have found in this category locally. The sopes were made fresh, which makes a huge difference in both flavor and texture. The tacos were solid overall. The asada was very good, well seasoned and flavorful. The al pastor was good, but it did not quite have that deep, traditional flavor you get from proper trompo style preparation. The esquites were also tasty, and the kids loved that they added hot Cheetos. That is a trend we saw in Los Angeles years ago, so it felt fun and nostalgic to see it here. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be about the salsa. The salsa served tasted more like a bottled style Mexican salsa. I would love to see a true house made salsa roja or salsa verde, the kind where you char the tomatoes, tomatillos, chiles, and onions before blending. That deep roasted flavor is such a big part of authentic Mexican cooking and would elevate the whole experience even more. The service was amazing from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the staff really helped make the experience even better. Overall, Casa De Avila is doing a lot right. The food is flavorful, the horchata is exceptional, and it stands out in an area where good Mexican food is not easy to find. While my personal background makes me a tough critic, this is still a place I would happily return to. A solid 4 stars.

Then while driving around that gas station looking for a spot to park, I smelled some amazing Pollo a La Brassa and saw La Chocita behind the gas station. That smelled drew me in! The folks inside were friendly and sat me promptly. I ordered a quarter chicken and she immediately told me she didn't have any chicken today (I think she meant not ready yet). I said I smelled it and that's why I came in, so she said to wait and went in the back. She came back and said she had chicken, so I assumed the fresh, amazing smelling chicken I came in for that was being cooked was ready. Well, what I got was yesterday's chicken which seemed to be re-heated. It was dry and flavorless... very boring. No spices to be seen or tasted - So very disappointing! The beans that came with it were decent... not a lot of flavor, but great texture and still good. The salad was fresh, their "dressing" was the typical mayo-based sauce and it was ok. Overall - Nothing at all exciting about this visit... I left disappointed.

The parking lot needs some work, it's not paved. Apparently this place has been in business for over 20 years, they could improve in this area. You start with complimentary chips and salsa. This wasn't bad. I started off with horchata, very good. I had half a chicken all dark meat with yucca and rice. The chicken was pretty good. Flavorful, juicy, tender. The yucca was the perfect texture, crispy exterior, soft interior. The rice was okay. The sauce both white and green could use some work. I'll say, their sauce doesn't come close to super chickens sauce. We dined in. The place was clean. The server was nice. They checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. They have a extensive menu. I'll definitely come back to try out the other items.
