This business owner refuses to move a jeep he owns out of the handicapped parking spot. Employees park in the handicapped spot as well as the crossed lines needed for wheelchair access. I spoke with an employee who understood me when I placed an order but immediately said no habla english when I asked her to have the offending vehicles moved. You can pseudo tandem park in the lot, as the other sections seem to be filled with vehicles from the auto shop. The menu offers tacos, pupusas, quesadillas, tortas, tamales, burritos, soups, and grilled platters. We ordered: +carne asada tacos - the meats were a little dried out and didn't have much marinade or seasoning on them; adding hot sauce didn't really help, either +elote tamale - this was actually cold and super stiff; not sure if it's been pre-made and sitting out for a while +chicken tamale - this was actually filled with seasoned and tasty chicken, and good with the hot sauce; but, the masa was also more on the stiff side and seemed to have just been reheated Staff here are friendly and welcoming. Once you order, you can dine-in at one of the tables in the back, and then pay up at the front once you're finished. Beware they tried to scam me here. Terrible service! Came there and got tamales & quesadillas and two cans of soda. While waiting for the food I paid with the woman that took my order. Waited about 20 min for the food went back up to the register to grab my food from the same lady. She then tried to ring me up again, yet I had already paid for the food and she wouldn't let me have the food until I paid Again. However she had already checked me out and I had already paid. We had an argument because they were trying to get me to pay twice. There was a long line of people and eventually she let me go but BEware of this illegal scam here. read more

I love how the food is served with real plates and utensils- that's hard to find nowadays in food service. Here is what I recommend: The carnitas tacos! Wow, I was skeptical at first but after moving to Marshall and deciding to look this place up on Yelp I saw the great reviews and thought why not, some of the best food places are hidden gems, and La Palmita Market is no exception! Don't let the fact that it is in a gas station deter you. The food is incredible. It's a family-run business and some of the best El Salvadorian food I have ever tasted. Seriously, I have tried the pupusas, tacos, tamales, enchiladas and breakfast burritos and I am a very loyal customer now. They are very friendly even to a Gringo like myself that can barely speak Spanish. My favorites are the carnitas tacos, revuelta pupusas, and chicken tamales! I still need to try the other items on the menu but I am sure they will not disappoint! I hesitated writing this review because I don't want this place to get so popular that I have to wait forever to get food but I figured they deserve it and I love supporting local businesses. This is a Citgo station with an auto garage and a store that seems to cater to the local Mexican rancheros. They also have a kitchen in the back and serve amazing tacos. Like, real ones. Order them from the counter and eat them in your car or buy a ton of them and take them home. Al pastor, carnitas, pollo, they have them all. I'm sure the other food is great too but I have not tried any of it. Just the tacos. I never drive past Marshall, VA without stopping there. read more

This market is at the gas station and is visible while driving down the main drag. At the counter you can order Mexican and Central American food for under 10 dollars. They have tacos, tamales and pupusas at two dollars a piece. Food is made to order so expect to wait a bit. They speak English at the counter. Food was good though the pupusa was slightly burnt on one side. Tamales are average Mexican tamales. They also have burritos, tortas and other plates. There is inside seating though it is limited. There are tables and folding chairs in the back of the store to sit and eat at, you order at the front and they'll serve you when you're seated in the back. This place is primarily a convenience store (with lots of hispanic items) and a "restaurant" as an afterthought, but not in a bad way. Pupusas and Tacos were good. My husband and I went to this place on a whim because of the reviews. I would have never guessed there was a little place to grab a tasty fresh bite to eat here. I had the tamales it came with two, which were stuffed full of shredded beef and it came with great salsa and a sour cream sauce. My husband had a flat grilled refried bean filled shell. It comes with three and they are about the size of a pancake. I can not remember the name of them but it had its own sauce that complimented it. Everyone was very friendly and we will be out again. While on the road in Marshall Va we stopped at the La Palmita Market. This is a little Mexican restaurant, and shop attached to a citgo station in the downtown. I love these little hole in the wall places so we thought we would give it a try. On our visit we had the Carne Asada Torta, and 4 Carne Asada tacos. All the food was fresh, and pretty good. We both agreed that this was not the most amazing mexican food we have had but not bad by a far stretch. This place is definitely one of Marshall's hidden gems. I usually order over phone and get take out. They have the best pork tamales, which come with salsa and a sourcream/queso kinda dip. I've also tried their carne asada tacos, which were pretty good but didn't beat out the tamales. You can get two tamales, two tacos, and a side of rice for $11! Maybe my husband and I were just really hungry after a long hike, but I think this place had the best Mexican food we've ever had on the east coast. We had the pupusas, a pork burrito, and chicken quesadillas, all grilled to absolute perfection.
