Very delicious gorditas! We ate here on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy, but the food was absolutely delicious. I woke up the next morning thinking about how delicious it was. They are very aware of how to deal with a gluten allergy. The gorditas and the plates can be ordered gluten free, and there are 3 different filling varieties that are gluten free. I tried the Papas Con Chorizo / Potatoes With Mexican Sausage and the Huevos Con Chorizo / Eggs with Mexican Sausage. My husband had one of the non gluten free fillings and said it was delicious as well. We will be back and I am recommending this little restaurant to everyone. read more

Awesome food! They specialize in Gorditas and burritos. The owner was awesome to talk to. They opened in March of 2020 so it had to of been a tough first year. He said the burritos and gorditas are Similar to what you'll find in Durango , MX. smaller but with more focus on taste that is filled with great slow cooked meats and spices. I had two gorditas (Spicy green beef and beef ancho pepper) and two desert empanadas and a Mexican coke. Cant want to come back!! read more

I had never heard of this restaurant but saw that they were getting some love on Yelp and we decided to give them a try recently. Boy, we are so glad that we tried them because we loved the food, service, atmosphere, and value! This place is different than most Mexican restaurants, in that they serve the food Durango-style. We were greeted in a friendly manner and explained how the menu works, which is in English and Spanish. First, you pick out some of the of the 13-ish fillings and then decide if you want it in a flour tortilla (burrito), corn gordita (sort of like a pita), or as a plate dinner (with rice and beans). The burritos and gorditas only have the filling and nothing else in them, which is good because the fillings are wonderful and don't need anything else. Since the burritos were on the smaller side, we ordered 6 with the following fillings: Ancho Pepper with Ground Beef, Poblano Pepper with Ground Beef, Tender Cactus with Egg, Potatoes with Ground Beef, and Potatoes with Mexican Sausage (Chorizo). While we were waiting for our food, a very nice young woman brought us 2 small gorditas as samples to try with Egg with Mexican Sausage (Chorizo). I'm not usually a chorizo fan, but we both loved it! When our burritos were served, we tried each one and really liked each one but our favorites were the Poblano Pepper with Ground Beef, and the Tender Cactus with Egg. There were all exceptional really. For dessert, we each had apricot and strawberry empanadas. We really liked those as well. The service was great, the food was spot-on, and it was a very reasonable price. I'll have to take some photos next time. We can't wait to go back! I would encourage anyone to try this restaurant. This is my first time making a review on yelp but this place was sooooo bomb and worth the drive. Let me start off by saying that Brenda was such a wonderful person not only was she very sweet but she also helped my fiancé and I decide on what to get to eat. We had the gorditas, the huevo and nopales (egg & cactus) that we had a sample of and were so flavorful. Then we had the green picadillo which were my absolute favorite, the chicharron which was spicy and great flavor too, and the deshebrada which is shredded beef. My wife and I were in town for the "Beyond Van Gogh" exhibit at the Mid-America Center. Afterward, we looked up restaurants near us and chose La Sierra because several reviews mentioned authentic cuisine. We were not misled. The menu is small and straight forward. Pick your fillings and choose it in either a gordita, burrito, quesadilla or on a plate. We both got selections as gorditas. My wife ordered: Asado De Puerco, Picadillo Verde and Picadillo Rojo. I ordered: Papas Con Carne, Papas Con Chorizo and Deshabrada. I also wound up getting a burrito with Machaca. All the meats were seasoned nicely and delicious. Both the verde and rojo salsas they brought out enhanced the food. The rojo does have a kick (same sauce as in the Desshbrada) but the heat didn't linger so eating it was enjoyable. The margarita I ordered was delicious, made with real lime juice. Some people might complain because it is regular sized, served in a glass roughly the size of a martini glass. It isn't a gigantic gimmick you find in a lot of American-Mexican restaurants. It hit the spot! The fruit empanadas were lovely, the crust similar to a sugar cookie with strawberry or apricot. We tried both and thought the apricot won by a hair. Its sweet flavor was slightly stronger than the strawberry. The service was excellent, both our server and the gentleman from the kitchen (maybe owner) who brought out food to the table were extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with. We've marked La Sierra in our "must do again" list and when we care back in Omaha, we will be stopping in. read more

My nephew drove by during the work week and "Durango, Mexico Style" caught his attention, we are from Durango, so we decided to check it out. The cashier was nice and explained the menu style. So no tacos on the menu, you pick from a Gorditas(puffed tortillas that are stuffed)Burritos/Quesadillas or Plate comes with rice/beans and they have 10+ traditional "Guisos"Stews/Cooked Plates to choose from. Nephew had an horchata that was tasty. And we only ordered Gorditas, we tried green and red picadillo, green peppers and cheese, eggs with cactus, spicy pork rinds did not disappoint, and a beans with cheese. They were hot! But really good flavor-wise. Price varied $2.99-3.99each, size of each was eh, OK. I would have liked a thinker Gordita because I am usually good with 1&1/2 compared to another local Mexican Spot where they are priced at $3.50e. So 5x3.99=$19.95x#of adults.. I may not be coming back, but will definitely let other know of this place. Now note to the establishment, you claim "Estilo Durango"-Durango Style but I saw nothing Durango MX about the place, just the state outline on the door. This rating reflects my disappointment and the ultimate service. First, it was just not what I expected, but that's not on them. They have many different filling choices for burritos, gorditos, and quesadillas. No tacos or enchiladas or the type of menu items that first come to mind when thinking about a Mexican food restaurant. That being said, it's a popular spot where people order ahead for pickup during busy hours, so plan to wait your turn if you drop in. We three travelers ordered a total of three items: a cheese quesadilla, a chicken burrito, and a potato cheese burrito. While the call in orders were prepared, we waited 25 minutes in the car for our order to be ready. Driving away we opened the bag to find only two of the three items we ordered and paid for. The food was fine, but the burrito was about as thin as a pencil. (I exaggerate, but not much.) So we went to Burger King where they gave us the wrong drinks, but the sandwiches we actually ordered. read more
