Went with friends because we want some good drinks. Not only were the margaritas pretty darn good, so was tge food! My friend got a shimp cocktail, jam packed full of shrimp! Myself and our other friend got a burrito. Mine was al pastor, she got Carne asada, somehow we got them mixed up and didn't notice till we were almost done, both were delicious, flavorful meats and just the right amounts of beans, rice and other good stuff! Our server was attentive and very nice. We didn't have any surcharge problems or anything like that. Music was a little loud, BUT they did play music that wanted to make you dance! She also told us they have karaoke on Saturdays so we may go back for that! Give it a try, it won't disappoint! It's mainly seafood, but they do have non seafood options as well.

First off- vibe is allllll good. Great music. A bit loud but to me, perfect. Amazing food- , the girls who work there hustle, super nice, and will explain everything. Don't be cheap and tip properly..they do everything except cook- The michi?? Bomb. All and all, go! So so good!

My husband had the carne asada tacos and we love our carne asada a certain way and this hit the nail on the head.

It has a grand bar that captures your eyes as soon as you walk in. The restaurant feels upscale without being pretentious. Reservations are recommended but there are a lot of great shops nearby if you need to pass the time until a table opens Valet is offered on Colorado boulevard and will cost you $25. Lots of garage parking nearby but it's not cheap either. Service was the highlight of the night. Our waitress made sure to ask about any allergies and preferences upfront, guided us through the menu and checked in on us just enough. The Manager even stopped by to make sure everything was all right. We had a couple of drinks: spicy margarita, guava margarita & an old fashioned, all great. Cocktails are pricey though, they start at $25. The chips and salsa were good, but the salsa wasn't spicy at all. Not the largest portions for the price but the quality of the food makes up for it. For our appetizer, we went with the queso fundido topped with onions, mushrooms, chorizo and chipotle chiles; though it could use more chorizo and a touch of salt. The presentation was lacking for a queso fundido, it should be served in a skillet or molcajete so it stays warm and easy to eat. For our main course, we went with the angus braised short rib in negro sauce. The short rib was tender and delicious. The negro sauce was nutty, Smokey and complex. Easily our favorite dish of the night. The food we had was very good, though not the most traditional Mexican food. It feels more like Mexican cuisine tailored for a broader American palate. That said, everything feels intentional and executed. Great spot for drinks, a business lunch, dinner with friends and family or a date night.

The menu has different varieties of tacos soup, seafood and breakfast items. I opted for posole since I went as soon as they opened at 9am. Now let me clarify. I am a posole connoisseur, so I am very picky when it comes to my posole. I can say with my ENTIRE chest that this by far was the best I've ever had. Posole was super clean, the broth was soooooo flavorful I did not even want to add anything to it! The meat omg was so fresh and the restaurant did not even skimp on the meat I had chunks in my bowl which was a bonus. The owners/workers were very sweet and delightful every time I looked up at them working they ran over stating if I needed anything. I cannot wait to return and try other items on their menu!

I would have said great, but the garnish overwhelmed the good stuff. Of course, I just swept it away. Underneath the garnish, the chile was fresh and crunchy. The enchilada, I liked as well, except it had cheese instead of meat that I thought I asked for. I have been to this place before, but it is nicely decorated now . It's a hole in the wall I would take a date at or family. Prices are prevailing rates, median.

But the velvety red enchiladas are a dream. The whole fried fish is crispy and served hot. The chile verde tart and savory with tender pieces of pork, the enchiladas suizas a perfect mix of sour and savory. Lightly battered with a touch of heat, the chile reinos are delicious. In the summer, the ceviches are outstanding as are the sopas and tostadas. Very personable and jolly hosts/owners, Lupitas wins on all fronts. This was actually our second attempt, the first time we showed up on a Saturday afternoon they were closed, despite their online hours saying otherwise. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back. Service was okay. The food? Disappointing. The shrimp cocktail was the whole reason we made the trip. It tasted watered down, had no seasoning, no lemon, and still had shell on the shrimp. It genuinely tasted like a pre-made Costco cocktail in red dyed water. The fajita plate (shrimp, beef, and chicken) was passable but nothing special. What really ended it for us were the hidden fees. We ordered the fajita plate $30 (+ taxes) a massive spread with a separate plate of rice and beans and they brought out THREE corn tortillas. THREE... I am Mexican. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime and have never been given only three tortillas for a plate that size. We asked for more tortillas and were charged $4 with zero warning. It's not about the money it's the principle. The charge was never disclosed. When I brought it up with the owner, Lupita, she was dismissive and couldn't explain the reasoning it's not even homemade tortillas. You can literally buy 90 tortillas for $4 at a grocery store! She took off one of the charges but kept the other $2. Meanwhile, they offer unlimited chips and complimentary salsa without blinking. The inconsistency is baffling. We genuinely wanted to support this family-run restaurant we loved seeing the family come in together. But the disrespect during that conversation made it impossible to leave on good terms. Do yourself a favor and drive about a 1.5 miles down the street to El Metate. Their large shrimp cocktail is $15, is so flavorful, and the staff treats you like family. Their pozole is outstanding too. We found them on our first failed attempt to come here and we'll be going back to them exclusively from now on. We will never return to Lupita's and made it clear to not go there in our community thread with 15K people. Unless you like hidden fees and mediocre tasteless overpriced food then this is your place otherwise...don't come here.
