Vegan & Vegetarian options - tons! Not only is the atmosphere fun and authentic, the food is TOP 10 to my favorite dishes ever. I had the Stuffed Poblano and it was to die for!! I was so full, but I couldn't waste it! The chilantro margarita is also incredible. Not spicy in my opinion, honestly. SOOO GOOD. They've got a great selection of ingredients, salsas, and cooking style. If this were any more affordable, I'd come here more often, but it's honestly quite pricy. The beans are great but you only really get a shallow little puddle. Loved their fresh chips, jamaica rose shrimp taco and sopa Azteca. Their horchata is unique and tasty. My husband got their michelada and the quesas al pastor which he said was fantastic. We came after their lunch and before dinner. The service was a little slow and we never received our guacamole. Food is pretty good. They have a ton of taco options. I just went with the lunch menu tacos. It was 3 tacos and a small side of rice and beans for $15. They are famous for their horchata which was okay. They have a super extensive salsa bar and free chips are included. Guac is fresh and tasty but small. During lunch you have to order at the counter and then you get regular service after you are sitting. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has nice background music. Overall it's a solid spot, being Phoenix I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go here since we have so many options. However, if you are in the area give it a go. read more

An updated review: While I still love this place, I was very disappointed with the service we had last time. We made reservations for my birthday and made those reservations based on the happy hour schedule, but when we arrived, our server told us that they did not have a happy hour. Later, she came back to tell us that there was a happy hour, but there was no menu just a discounted price for the house margaritas and micheladas. It was a very confusing encounter. Then, we had a couple of dietary restrictions that seemed to be either forgotten by the server, or ignored by the kitchen. My friend's vegan tacos came with a crema on top, so we had to have that one remade. My other friend asked for no cilantro, and had to have that meal remade as well. It was supposed to be a nice gathering for my birthday with some dear friends but we spent a lot of time waiting for our meals to be corrected and I felt that I needed to constantly apologize to my friends over the experience. I'm honestly disappointed that this was my birthday dinner because I really do enjoy this place a lot and the food was delicious. I'm not sure where things went wrong, but there needs to be some improvement to the service. Got the three mix-and-match tacos with rice and beans. Let's go from my least to most fav tacos. Least fav (6/10): baby shark taco. Was really curious how that would taste and it turned out pretty good! It did taste dryer/tougher and flavor of the fish was a bit stronger than regular white fish. I appreciate that their fried fishes didn't have too much batter with minimal amount of fish. The tartar-like dressing on top was very good too. Would I order this again??? Likely not.. but it was not bad to try! Next fav (7/10): chile en nogada. I like anything poblano peppers. They just taste amazing with the slight zing and spice but also comes with abundance sweetness. Topped with mushrooms, pomegranate seeds and I picked chicken as choice of protein. Maybe would have been more oomph with seafood options. Flavor was good. Chicken was just underwhelming. Most fav (9/10): tamarindo mahi-mahi. The fried calabacitas o to the m to the g. It added great sweetness and crunch to the overall taste. The dressing on top too was bomb. I will get this again. Everything was very, very flavorful and I could not eat more than 50% of my meal. Also, the rice and beans were interesting. Rice was mushy - cooked with too much liquid, and beans were served a little over room temp vs hot. The flavors weren't bad but I probably would not pay $3 extra for it. Service was great! We have been coming here for almost a decade. The food is usually great but the service can hit or miss. Today was a whiff! There were only 5 other tables our server was slow to get just about everything. We all placed our order, with minor modifications. I got rice, that I specifically said I didn't want. My husband ordered cheese on his burrito, it wasn't included. So he sent it back. They threw some on and brought it back. My husband too one bite, they arbitrarily added Pico. It was sent back again after some back and forth. The kicker was it was still included on our bill despite having to send it back multiple times and arriving well after we were finished and wanted to leave. read more

Great place for tacos and drinks with friends! The menu selection is huge and they have so many fancy tacos. Tacos were not bad but I was disappointed with the rice and beans which were an additional $3 to add on. Portions were small but the plate made the beans look wide and spread out but zero depth. So it was just a few bites of beans. Rice was too mushy. The tacos on the other hand were flavorful and tasty for the most part. Ever since traveling to Tulum, I've been on the search for a great cochinita pibil taco but haven't found any as good. Not much flavor there. I also got el gaucho which is their Argentinian inspired taco which was delicious. The food was amazing! I had the La Santisima Burrito prepare in an enchilada style. Portions were large as I had the rest for lunch the next day. The guacamole dip was also fantastic as well as the chips and so many choices from salsa bar. Ambiance was terrific and lots of parking available (even though we walked). Our first visit at this place. It was just before 2 pm. Nobody was here ? Parking lot empty ?? Was I making a good choice to eat here ??? We walked in and got seated. It's pretty cool inside , they have swings at the bar for seating and lots of day of the died art work and gift shop. They have a sauce bar with a lot of different salsa and sauces to try. The menu had such a huge variety of meat and fishes and sauces. All in Mexican words so it meant nothing to me. lol. Had the waitress pick my meal. I got the Mai Mai fish burrito and it was oh my gosh! Good. And wife had the pork and shark fish tacos. Both very good. I gave this a 4 star cause we didn't get absolutely phenomenal service being the only people in the place at the time. And the prices are very high. 18 bucks for my burrito and it was medium size no sides. Wife had small street tacos and paid almost twice as much as any other place. They had some super cool looking bar swings about 12 of them but every single one had a sign that said it was not available for seating. If you're looking for just tacos this is a pretty good option! I don't recommend for you to pay extra for takeout rice and beans, they're stingy with the portion size. However when dining in they're a little more generous, and I was disappointed with the service, as the staff was not very friendly. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! Got reservations on a Friday night for a group of four. To our surprise, the reservation was not even needed. During the peak (6-7pm) people got sat right away. We waited a long time to be greeted by our waitress and then again for waters. Our waitress let us know our food would take awhile and recommended to order an appetizer. We ordered the Queso Fundido with chorizó and then our entrees a few minutes after. The queso took 45 minutes to get to our table. Throughout that time, our waitress failed to check on us once and refill our waters. Instead of providing customer service, multiple servers were just hanging out at the hostess area. We ordered two carne asada burritos and three tacos (Arabe Al Pastor, La Santisima Specialty, Oaxacan Black Mole). This took about 15-20 minutes to come out after the appetizer came out. Everything was lackluster for us. This was disappointing to see after reading through so many great reviews. The only thing I did enjoy was the pecan salsa. Went back yesterday for dinner after a long time and the recent negative reviews are correct. Food and drinks are not the same. Everything has gone down in quantity and quality with the same high prices. Only thing still good is the salsa bar. Update after going to the new location. So worth it. This spot suits them much better... larger dining area, larger parking lot, and proper bar! I went with my mom and my two kids, on a Tuesday night and everyone loved what they got...a bean burro, a quesadilla, and various street tacos. We did have to wait longer than other places for things like seating, and having our order taken but after we sat and ordered - food came out of the kitchen really quickly, was fresh and delicious! To drink the adults had a Paloma, and Margarita which were both delicious, large, and generously poured. They have large Mexican cokes too! The prices are a little high but, the food is so good and authentic. The servers are friendly even if they are really busy. The salsa bar is still a big hit and I love that they have "abnormal" salsas to try. I recommend chipotle, and jicama! Have been here three times. We don't live in Phoenix but have family there and we liked this the last time we had it a few months ago. First time: food was awesome! Very tasty and very worth the wait. Service was friendly and quick. Second time was the next day because we really liked it the day before. It was also great! Third time was 5 months after.... Food was not quite as good. It was still good but not great and not really sure what happened. The big difference was that the prices went up by quite a bit and the food quality went down (enough to notice). Had the quality and taste remained I would not have minded the price increase. I don't think this will be in my list of places to stop back by when we are there again. Cost doesn't match what the food taste is now :( read more
