California Burrito with chips
Jon W.

Hadn't heard of this place so I decided to try it out. The staff is super friendly, and pretty quick getting orders out. Having read the menu, I already knew before ordering that the California Burrito here isn't like the california burrito with fries that most places have, but it's not bad. Because of the mask muffling of words, I misheard the cashier and apparently asked for extra meat but I guess that's better than accidentally getting less food so it's fine, and if anything it was my fault for not checking my receipt. They have plenty of other things on the menu that I'm interested in trying so I'll most likely go back. They also do catering if you ever find yourself in need.

Clumpy rice

Very average food. Not sure where they get their chicken from - tastes like rubber. Got a fajitas plate today. Rice was clumpy, meat had an unpleasant grayish tint to it, chicken was rubbery, peppers were not fully cooked, and guac did not taste like guac. Chips are usually freshly fried and tasty.

Just tried the breakfast burrito with chorizo. I heard it was delicious. Let me start by saying that I love breakfast burritos! So for $5, you get a very decent size burrito filled with egg, cheese, chorizo. I ate about half when I realized the other half was very oily and the bread was getting soggy. I ended up just eating the filling. I think there's too much chorizo that makes it oily, not sure. Flavor was not bad, but the oil threw me off. I did try all the salsas, which were very fresh and clean. Each tasted good in their own way. I might return and maybe split the burrito with less chorizo!

Taco Salad with grilled chicken underneath a mass of pico and salsa from the salsa bar.

Decent little place tucked away in a small downtown strip of similarly convenient better-than-fast-food eateries. Opted for the Taco Salad. Choice of meat adds $2 for grilled chicken or $2.49 for steak. I had the chicken. Pretty good assortment on the salad. Guacamole, sour cream and the Chicken was good.  Big plus is the salsa bar with several varieties plus chopped onions and cilantro available as well.

Breakfast burrito. So yum

Excellent food. Best to call ahead as I would consider it "fast food" but you know it was made fresh! Well worth the 6-10min wait!!!

We kicked things off with the queso fundido, and wow, it was absolutely delicious! Rich, melty, and packed with flavor, it was the perfect way to start the evening. For my entrée, I ordered the cochinita pibil, which was incredibly tender and saucy in the best way. My husband ordered the short rib, and it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. On the side, we shared the papas bravas and esquite, both of which complemented our dishes perfectly. The drinks truly elevated the night. My husband and I both love mezcal, and Kateen delivered. I ordered the Valentine's Day "Zona Romántica," which featured mezcal and wine almost like a sangria, but completely unique and beautifully balanced. My husband had the "Gypsy Fever," also mezcal-based, and it was smoky, smooth, and refreshing. Between the food, cocktails, and ambiance, it made for such a romantic and memorable evening. We'll absolutely be back!!

This time, we decided to give it another shot since it has so many good reviews, and I'm glad we did. The ambiance was much better, with nice Tulum-style vibes and music that really set the mood. From the moment we walked in, service was great. We were greeted and seated right away thanks to our reservation. Our waitress, Brenda, was friendly, attentive, and super helpful in explaining the menu and recommending drinks. She checked in often and made sure everything came out quickly. The food was good overall, though the menu is a bit limited if you don't eat meat or seafood. I was especially looking forward to the fish tacos, but it seems like they've been removed from the menu. One thing I really appreciated was the mocktail options. Perfect if you're not drinking but still want something fun. The Wes Colada is a great pick if you like piña colada type drinks, though it is on the sweeter side. The michelada was also really well done, with a nice balance of savory and sour. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot for a date night or a girls' night out.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The fish taco was okay but thought it was cute that they wrap it in a little tusk. I would mention the drinks but I'm not sure what my friends got and I got a mocktail. We initially had one server who brought us water and took our appetizer order, but then disappeared for quite some time without checking back in. At that point, I even went looking for a manager or hostess and couldn't find anyone available. Eventually, we were given a new server, but she came across as extremely rude and inattentive. What upset me most was the overall lack of communication and attentiveness throughout the experience. It made what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day outing feel frustrating and disappointing. Sadly, this experience soured my impression enough that I don't see myself returning.

Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

Everything tasted incredibly fresh and high quality. We ordered the smoked kanpachi taco, taco de pulpo en su tinta, shrimp aguachile, ceviche mixto, sea urchin, kanpachi & uni tostada, and lenguado tostada. My absolute favorite was the sea urchin, it comes in its shell, cut in half so it feels like two small portions, and the combination of fish, uni, and the light sauce was amazing. The kanpachi & uni tostada was another standout (clearly a must if you love uni). Overall, such a great experience. Amazing fresh seafood, efficient service, and every staff member we interacted with was incredibly friendly. Definitely worth the visit.
