The staff was extremely rude and catered only to customers who were not local. I am a local Asian female and decided to take my boyfriend, who is also a Hawaii local, who was visiting from outer island here and we walked out. The staff inside the bakery and the restaurant staff were incredibly rude to my boyfriend and I. After 5 minutes of waiting for a menu or service we were ignored by the waitress. She went by every table except ours so we walked out. We were the only local Asian customers there. It is sad how this place treats the locals who are not Caucasian. This place was amazing, and I ate more than I usually do, so beware of your waistline here. Ha! I had the ham and cheese quiche that was light and creamy and shared the blackberry scone with my friend. She had the spinach and goat cheese quiche and gobbled that down fast too. The place was friendly even with the COVID safety requirements. I love that they offer a larger brunch menu on the weekends. Check out their website for their menu. I think you will love this french bakery and have a hard time deciding which pastry to order. The croissants looked to die for, and the apple pastry made me drool. Oh what a great find in Kula! We came her for espresso and croissants three days in a row and the staff noticed. Haha. They were friendly and I almost expect them to be singing in the kitchen. They have grab-and-go pastries and coffee inside and dine-in on the patio only. The kitchen smelled so good when new almond croissants were coming out. There is a typical crowd of "coffee-ers" (not bikers) that frequent this stop and I must say they know how to do it. We stayed for breakfast a couple times - only available Wednesday - Saturday at starting at a leisurely 9:00am . The chicken and brie crepe was good but needed salt. The side salad and potato are a nice touch. The balsamic dressing is really good! I had the salmon Benedict and it was perfectly cooked. Too often I've had a Benedict with Hollandaise that is overpowering, the English muffin too toasted for cutting with a fork, and the eggs too runny. This place did it just right IMO and cooked just right making it easy to get bite after bite with all of the flavors. Yum! CASH ONLY! But make this a stop whether you're local or tourist. read more

I absolutely love the pastries here!! I'm surprised by how well the texture and mix of the bakery good came together to create such wonderful tastes and textures. I was particularly surprised by the sticky bun. Usually not my favorite item but in this case I could just gobble it up. It's not too sweet like many other places. The dough was a job well done, it was soft, chewy (just right), and light. We also got a few other pastries in which I have forgotten it's name, but so far, they have all been satisfying. Always a great stop for breakfast or brunch. Sit down or takeout pastries. Food is always good and I'm never disappointed. Hours are sometimes iffy but definitely worth trying to get it if you can. The almond tart and the quiche are my favorites! Crust on quiche is nice and flaky and the filling is fluffy, not dense like a frittata. The almond tart has great flavor and a nice texture. Very charming and lovely little cafe with some terrific menu options- we were just looking for coffee and a snack (quiche and pain au chocolat, both very good) so we didn't try anything from the actual menu. That said, we overheard another diner mention how much they liked the lilikoi vinaigrette dressing on their salad that I almost regret not being hungrier. Near Kula Hardware is this hiddem place. Can only vouch for the dessert/pastry case as that's all I've tried on my few stops here. But oh man, I just love those chocolate croissants. The flakiness of the pastry is the best! I've tried other things like the scone which seemed a bit dry, the almond tart which was okay but you have to love almonds. I've also had like a flaky sugar bun type thing which I don't remember the name of but that's also good. My friend had told me about this big elephant ear pastry that they make,but every time I go they dont seem to have it! We ordered chocolate croissants based on yelp recommendations, but the true bomb were the palmier with cherry filling! Tried the Lilikoi Meringue - so sweet and tart! Reasons this is a 4 and not a 5 is (1) they don't serve breakfast until 9am (at least on the Saturday we went). (2) No signage that this is cash/check only joint and no ATM's on premise. So if you arrive at 730a, you can drive to the True Value down the street and wait for them to open so you can pull cash from an ATM. Not really that flakey and I can get a better crossiant from Costco. In terms of flavor, it's comparable to pillsbury dough and had a doughy flour taste yet hard bread w butter. We were on our way back from paragliding off Haleakala crater and stopped here. It seemed good. I decided on the crab crepe with an egg as an extra but the first crepe they brought out was a salmon one so I had to wait. I tried hubby's chicken crepe which was much better than I thought out it would be. The chicken was moist and flavorful. When mine did come out it was very disappointing. It was more of a pocket than a crepe. It seemed like they had pre cooked the crepe, put a blob of crab, with spinach and then broke a raw egg over it and closed it up. Yep, I didn't like it. Also tried the almond tart that had the disgusting almond extract taste. If you're interested in the pastry items you should get there early because they run out. Love this cute little spot in upcountry maui to get away from the more commercialized areas

It's a cute open crepe house, nicely situated in Kula. We had lunch there with Spinach and Genova Sauce Crepe, and Chicken and Brie Crepe. Spinach crepe was very good, although the Chicken & Brie was almost as good. Brie wasn't very "cheesy"but it was more on milder side. (I like strong cheesy Brie). The atmosphere is very nice on sunny afternoon. A bit of French touch. Great lunch after visiting the Lavender field. read more

Flies all over pastries!!! Rude owner & staff and not a clean place to eat. My boyfriend and I went to this place twice and wanted to try some pastries however, both times there were flies all over the pastries that are inside and could easily be covered. We ordered some eggs benedict which tasted pretty good. After we finished breakfast, we decided to provide our feedback about the flies and asked for the manager. My boyfriend kindly mentioned about the flies and how it's been stopping us from buying pastries. My boyfriend said if the pastries were covered, they could possibly sell more. The owner was super rude and started to blame his customers for leaving the door open. My boyfriend said that he was just providing his feedback to help his business and the owner's answer was "whatever." He said a lot of other nonsense but I tuned out after he started acting like a total jerk. As we were walking out, our waitress who received 20% tip from us said sorry to the other customer for hearing our conversation and added "there is a lot of other things that are worst than flies." I guess she is not aware of the diseases that flies carry and all the smelly things that they land on if you know what I mean. Also, she was trying to get rid of the flies with her hand while we were waiting for the owner (as we are talking about a whole bunch of flies, not just 1 or 2). I mean if the flies are not such a bad thing to have on your food, why make the effort to get rid off them. Such a nice way to thank the customer who is contributing to your paycheck and left a generous tip. I've not seen seen such a bad customer service and rude staff at a restaurant before. After this experience, we don't trust how they handle things in the kitchen and believe that they should be inspected by the food safety branch. read more

Aaaahhhhh.... let's talk about Paris! Not to brag but yes, at one time in my life I did go to Paris however I was not a foodie at the time so I really didn't check out all the pastries available there. Now here on Maui, who needs to go to Paris when you have La Provence. This place has the most amazing pastries! I mean flaky palmiers, buttery croissants, beautiful tarts, flavorful savory quiches... as much as I love this place, this is not a gluten free, keto, paleo, vegan kitchen, boy is it worth every bite! It's a quaint cafe bakery that is owned by a Frenchman and it shows by his wonderfully made goods. They also serve breakfast and lunch which I haven't tried, but I imagine it must be amazing. This is a cash only place, starting from $3 to $6 for the pastries. My favorite is of course the lilikoi tart, palmier, chocolate croissant but I will eat pretty much all that they serve read more

First time went there it was screamed cash only, 2nd time i order from online and it cost more when I picked it up, 3rd time the was a line and I thought it was for dinning in, so I walked in the store part and was rudely told only 2 people in store, then screamed sign outside, even though I was standing on one of the spots that one of the 2 should be standing on. I left because it became a mob mentality and I was the only brown local, I left and will never be back its not worth it, its for Tourists & Snobs. Awesome awesome awesome. Stopped by this little bakery on the crater. Parking is on both sides of the entry FYI, but it can be a little tight. The entrance of the bakery is small but full of delectable goodies. We wanted to grab some pastries for the road and a quick breakfast. We opted for he ham and cheese quiche. That's all you need right there, holy cow, the BEST quiche I've ever had hands down. It's exactly how you want quiche to be, a flaky puff pastry crust that yields easily to your fork, a light as air egg custard like filling, and generous chunks of thinly sliced ham. My husband and I were in pure heaven eating this, so much so we stopped on the way back down and picked up two more to go for breakfast the next day, just as good reheated the next day. I highly recommend it. The pastries were also amazing, I opted for an apricot tart and my hubby got an apple turnover. Buttery flakey crusts and really fresh fruits, loved how the apple filling had tender apples with lots of filling. And large apricots on the tart, oh so good. You must stop!!!! read more

This place is one of my all time favorite Maui spots. The atmosphere is always laid back and relaxed, and the food is fresh and delicious. I am not generally a big fan of crepes but I make an exception for La Provence. I particularly like the roasted vegetable/goat cheese as well as the lilikoi crepes. The only downside to this place is that its upcountry location makes it a little out of the way for many visitors - but if you are making a journey upcountry I highly recommend adding this stop to your itinerary! read more

*Update* We tried the lilikoi tart and it is now our new favorite pastry! It you are looking for something new to try, try this! La Provence is one of my wife's favorite places to visit and my favorite crepe and French bakery. We always try to stop here at least once when we are back home visiting family and is a wonderful way to start your day. The seating is limited but the atmosphere is very relaxed. I love all of the crepes and will usually get a chocolate filled croissant for dessert. Make sure to call ahead to make sure they are open. read more

Covid really messed with their hours. Sometimes I'd come and they were open, most times I'd come and they were not. The owner could not care less which I guess is true too cool French attitude. My wife and I went here for Brunch for the first time, we were so happy that we discovered this place. Chef owned and it reflects on the food! The baker is very rude. Who needs that type of treatment. You go in to get pastry and they start going into a fit sating ,"back up, 6 feet. It was just really rude and unnecessary verbal treatment. There's no reason why they couldn't be polite about it. The croissants were terrible - they were stale. I will not go back. I was really disappointed. Rude people. WARNING FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS!!! PRICES ARE NOT ACCURATE YOU WILL SPEND CLOSE TO $100 FOR MINIMAL PORTIONS OF "GOURMET" FOOD. POOR POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Since there is no website, no official menu, and a bunch of different photos of different menus with all different prices from other Google users we decided to use the Google menu because usually if you're too lazy to create a website for your business you'll have Google do it for you. Google prices were very reasonable asking $4-$12 for crepes/eggs Benedict. We called around 9:50am (they open at 9 supposedly) to which the owner answered and let us do our entire order just to reply with "we don't open until 10". Then maybe switch your hours online? Don't answer the phone until 10? We called back at 10 and ordered which took a while because the phone they have either doesn't work or the owner is half deaf. We specifically asked for no tomatoes in our order on the phone 3 different times as well. We get there and the total comes out to $71.55 for 4 items! 2 orders of crepes that supposedly cost $8 together, and two eggs Benedict that supposedly cost $22 together. We were also taken aback when we confusedly brought out our credit card and the girl working the counter just pointed to a small sign reading "Venmo Cash or Check only." Coming from someone who has worked years in restaurants and in the service industry usually you announce the total and if you are a cash only restaurant (shady) at the end of the call so your customers don't show up in disbelief. We brought our concerns to one of the staff members who rolled her eyes and very rudely said "that's just google we have no control over it unless we pay for it, you have to walk into the restaurant for the real prices, I run all the internet stuff so I would know. Sorry?" She said it all very quickly because she knew the restaurant was in the wrong and it must be hard work tending to 1 singular table! Being a (barely) established business I'm not sure maybe you could either (1) pay google to stop misleading customers or (2) sit down for a second when you get a break from waiting the tables you don't have and type up a website like any good business would do. You guys are only open for 4 hours a day anyways lots of free time huh? :) we kindly suggested they stop half asing their business to which we got a very short "yeah sure thanks". We got home and were astounded when we found a singular crepe in each box and tomatoes in our food. Just so everyone is aware it is $10 DOLLARS for singular a crepe!!! $22 for the savory ones. We called them in disbelief to which the owner unfortunately answered again. We told them our complaints and tried to help them out a bit by sending them the prices we had been looking at. We asked for any contact number/email so we could show him to which the owner responded "why would I do that? I don't know you. Why don't you take it to yelp or something. Aloha."
