Stopped here for breakfast after our early morning Haleakala sunrise trek, and was pleasantly surprised at how charming and wonderful our breakfast experience was! This quaint cafe is situated on a country road off the beaten path. Street parking was a tad tough in the area but we were lucky to nab a spot in their small dedicated dirt lot. We were seated outside and I ordered their salmon and spinach eggs benedict and a latte. Eggs were perfectly poached. I wish I had saved room to enjoy their French pastries. After eating breakfast and getting up to leave, we noticed that there was a line forming in the small building adjacent to their outdoor dining area. We peeked inside and noticed a wide array of delicious looking French pastries, and happy customers with white pastry boxes and coffees-to-go exiting with smiles towards their cars. (PS. Err, I guess I'm spoiled living in a city with a lot of cute french cafes. Because for me La Provence didn't live up to the hype. It wasn't bad though. Great view, adorable LONG drive through the country and farmland to get there. Had some pastries and coffee. Both OK. Girlfriend has a quiche, since she is a quiche aficionado. She said it was good, but not among the best. Service was fine. I was just expecting some wild amazing pastries or dishes like people had told me about. Stopped to grab breakfast before going around south to Hana. We were excited for some crepes but arrived before they started serving breakfast (830am) but there were plenty of freshly baked pastries to choose from. We had a cherry turnover, almond croissant, ham and cheese quiche and a sticky bun. The almond croissant was awesome, sticky bun was really good and the quiche was really fluffy and not dry at all. We saved the cherry pastry for snacking in the car a few hours later, flaky and delicious. Will return for crepes and eggs benedict one day but the pastries were some of the best I've ever had!! My husband and I originally came for the bfast based on the yelp reviews we read but bfast isn't served until 8:30 :( we got here at 7am. So we stayed for the pastries and coffee. This place topped off an amazing morning at the Haleakala summit. La Provence is hard to find but worth the journey. My husband and I actually waited for this place to open at 8:00 am on Sunday. Standing outside sniffing the amazing smell of baking croissants and scones, we were primed for our morning feeding. Le Provence did not disappoint. Loved the citrus taste of the sticky bun, fruit filled scones! Husband made happy sounds as he dug into the almond croissant. I love going to La Provence for lunch whenever I go to Maui and adore the veggie crepe. I haven't really tried anything else because it is SO delish. The almond tart is to die for. Got there around 8:45 and saw a sign saying they served breakfast Wednesday's until the weekend now although reviews said only weekends. The parking lot was still roped off and the gate was locked with no one to be found. Very disappointing since we went out of our way to go. We visited la Provence after a hike on the volcano, and were so pleasantly welcomed by the extremely friendly staff, garden-like ambience, and a gorgeous view! Very good breakfast place I was in conflict of how many stars to rate this place. For the food 5 stars. Pastries are so perfectly baked. The benedicts are so good. Went for lunch on Saturday , and when we got there they said they only served breakfast on the weekend, which on the website there is no breakfast menu or indication of this no lunch on the weekend deal. I didn't even think they served breakfast because there was no menu online. No vegan option for breakfast, so my sister couldn't eat. There were vegan options on the lunch menu, but again, no lunch on the weekends. The food was good. Salad dressing was amazing (never had salad as a side for a breakfast dish, but it was good) n the little fried potato was awesome. The actually crepe itself was good. I got the veggie and goat cheese one. Veggies were pretty soggy, but it was still good flavor despite the mushiness. Everyone else seemed to be satisfied by their meal as well. It's out door seating and there are SO many flys. It was hard to enjoy our food when tiny flys were getting stuck to out plate, and big flys were flying in out face an on our food. We went to this place for breakfast expecting a relatively normal breakfast menu, with possibly some nice pastry options. As it turns out, the only three options on the menu are eggs Benedict, savory crepes, and sweet crepes. This was a bit surprising but all my companions seemed okay with the limited choices. My boyfriend and I ordered variations on the eggs Benedict and we both agreed that it was BY FAR the worst eggs Benedict we had ever had the displeasure of eating. It was almost completely flavorless in every aspect. The mocha I had ordered was also terrible, they hadn't even bothered to stir in the Hershey's syrup and it had all settled to the bottom. Maybe the best Eggs Benedict on the island. Unbelievable pastries, scones, tarts, and baked goods, which sell out early. Weekends are crepes and bennies, weekdays they also have salads, all the food is excellent. Made by a real Frenchman who curses under his breath whenever someone comes in because it means he has to keep cooking. And like a real French cafe, when they are busy the service is usually so bad we often get stuff to go. However, things have been looking up lately, better service and some of the new staff members are actually customer oriented. Don't let that fool you though, the food still rocks. read more

The wife and I had just finished Haleakala and were hungry so we decided to give this place a shot. The signage out front is kinda small so I passed it on accident as it's kind of in an unassuming place (right across from a gas station/auto shop). It's a very small place with outside (covered and uncovered) seating and we were a bit confused on if we seat ourselves and a waiter comes up to you or what exactly. We heard a French voice from inside tell us that we can sit anywhere but need to order inside as they are not a full breakfast restaurant. That day they only had croissant's, danish, pastries and two kinds of quiche. We both opted for the ham and cheese quiche and paid with cash (cash only BTW). By God they were the most amazing thing ever! The egg was so light and fluffy it was like you were eating foam and the crust was very light and flaky,. We devoured our food and then split another right after that. You will not be disappointed if you are a quiche fan by any means and the atmosphere outside overlooking the country side, kinda makes you feel like you are in the France in that same setting. Had a great experience here. The food was delicious and priced well and the service was fine. We didn't run into any of the issues you see about this place. We had brunch and shared the bacon and avocado benedict and the goat cheese and vegetable crepe. Both were delicious. The server was friendly and prompt. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes. If I could give this place no stars I would. I can't comment on the food as we sat for over 20 minutes with little, if no recognition by easily the worst waitress in history. She'd come by our table, not acknowledge us even when we said multiple times we were ready to order.
