To be fair, the pizza is generally good. But I must be honest regarding the service and ambiance. This place use to be the most popular restaurants in the area. Good food, great service, and even better ambience. Full of energy and always a fun time. Today it is totally opposite of that. The only thing worse than the service is the ambiance. Frankly they are equally bad. Again, pizza is good. Not great, but better than a few other places in the area. Just carry out and be prepared for the wait staff to expect you to tip excessively for an online order. I was called out for providing a 12% tip for an online order that I picked up, after being told that they only make $2.10 an hour. So it's my responsibility to pay the staff? The young lady was rude and looking for a handout. Asked me for "all the change" from $20 for a $9 glass of wine. Terrible customer service skills at best, extreme greed at worst. Had family coming in late Christmas eve and with limited choices I ordered an 18" cheese pizza with ham & pepperoni added & 12 wings for take out. First the menu on Yelp is outdated - says $1.25/ whole wing, nope it's $1.25/wing piece, you can imagine my disappointment when I opened the box at home, and that only increased as I at one of the drumetts and found it raw at the bone. I used to like this pizza place before it was bought by new owners a few years ago. Was there last night and the pizza wasn't up to par. The crust gets tough as it cools and they were VERY skimpy with the pizza toppings. Also the service was sooo slow. We waited over an hour for our pizzas and we arrived early, before 5:30pm. However, I ate there a month or so ago and the pizza toppings were generous and the service wasn't so slow. I guess it depends on who is working on the night you are there. This review is for La Pizzeria... We used to eat here all the time and enjoyed it very much when it was operated by the previous owner. The food was great and so was the service. After it was sold we started seeing some changes in the way the food was prepared and in the staff. Many that worked there for years, were not there anymore. I think only one of the older staff member continues to work there. Sorry, but the pizza is not the same. We don't enjoy pieces of green pepper so huge and raw on our pizza. They were certainly not prepared that way before. Also, the place is starting to look a bit old and unkept. Maybe it's time for some renovation? Finally found the pizza taste I have been craving. The crust was perfectly not too thin, not too thick. Sauce impeccable in seasonings and simpleness, and toppings fresh. Well the pizza had what seemed like a lot of salt and spice. The items used looked fresh but it lacked flavor. I have had Papa Johns supremes and they were more flavorful. Cute restaurant. We've gotten carry-out a few times (I can't speak for the dine-in experience). Staff is not very good about masks or distancing, but they are very friendly. Pizza is incredible. Love the sauce, crust, and you can tell it's not cheap cheese. Tip- if they tell you 20 minutes, get there sooner - one time I think my order was ready sooner than they estimated, so the pizza didn't taste quite as fresh. Cheap beer, ok pizza, odd location. During our first trip to Blue Ridge, we were in the mood for pizza, and outside of chains (pizza hut/ dominoes) there are very few choices - so we wound up here. We started with the garlic knots, which were tasty and arrived quickly. The draft beer was the best price all trip. The environment was very no frills, low key, somewhat drab pizza shop. We spilt a Pepperoni pizza, very thin crust, which is something I like, but too greasy. I wouldn't mind it again, but not for the price. The cheap beer helped even the value out somewhat. The parking lot is bizarre, a short walk down the hill from the restaurant. Luckily it was a slow evening and there was plenty of room, but on a busy night it would fill up fast. When waking up to the restaurant, you pass Pete's porch -- a highly cluttered house and porch (reminded me of a flea market). This gives the area character but makes you think twice about continuing. The restaurant next door was only taking reservations for the rest of the night so we popped in to try it out. We started with garlic knots and side salads, both were good, nothing mind blowing. We ordered a Rebel pizza (pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onion) to share with our table and none of us could get past one slice. It was so greasy, the sauce was runny, the sausage was so over powering, and none of the toppings would stay on the pizza when you picked up a slice. We didn't even take home the leftovers because no one in our party wanted it. We have never met a pizza we didn't like but tonight that changed. Service wasn't great either. Have been going here for years but I'm afraid the quality of declining. I used to look forward to coming here but lately, I've been thinking about trying other places. The garlic knots used to be baked, they're now deep fried (never heard of deep drying garlic knots before). The size of the shells has decreased as well, used to get 3 shells in a half order, now you only get 2. And, for the past 6 weeks or so they have had a limited menu. Several weeks ago it was "due to a kitchen upgrade" and now this past weekend it was due to no computers. Just because you don't have any computers doesn't mean you can't have a full menu. read more

Our waitress was friendly, and the price point was where you would expect, and all in all there wasn't any problems. My main complaint is that while I enjoy the low lighting in the restaurant, you do not need it in the bathrooms. Especially the one with the changing table. Trying to change a diaper when the room's light puts out the same amount of glow as a small candle is an incredibly frustrating task. We are locals who live here full time. We go to La Pizzeria often for their great pizza and other Italian dishes.

Not sure why when the place is not packed full that we waited for over an hour for a pizza. Over an hour for a pizza! Wait staff was fine but kitchen needs to either be shut down or rebuilt if they can't turn out an easy pizza on an average night in less than an hour. The kitchen seemed more focused on taking care of getting to go orders out as opposed to taking care of diners in the restaurant. Too bad after a great afternoon playing around Blue Ridge to have our dinner ruined by a stupid wait for a simple order. Not the first time we've had a disappointing experience here and each time was a matter of kitchen problems. Both with old ownership and new. I give up on the entire restaurant group. We have been three or four times and every time it is the same. The wait is forever long and the service is neither bad nor good. The pizza is tasty but hardly worth the price. I will start off by saying the pizza is delicious, BUT the service totally screwed our order up & the owner came out with a BAD ATTITUDE. We actually had to tell him to calm down. The waitress said the kitchen messed up our order & the owner told us it was the waitress who messed up our order. The waitress said she would give us free passes for pizza next time we came in, but I guess the owner told her she could only give us garlic knots & free round of drinks. We had already ordered garlic knots which we ate. No one asked if we wanted more. They just brought more out. We got 2 free beers because no one else in our party of four wanted more drinks. We had to wait an hour & 1/2 for our 2 pizzas. They gave us extra garlic knots which we really did not want & 2 free beers. Very disappointed in the owner's attitude. He was rude!! Got right into my father-in-laws face & said everyone makes mistakes. Almost sounded like either you get what you get or you can leave. Asked the waitress after we paid where our free pizza passes were & she told us we got garlic knots & 2 beers instead...really....no one wanted this. Fine, fine, pizza in Blue Ridge. After having some well-prepared grilled chicken and a salad here at my friends cabin, it was time to get serious, pizza serious, that is. Thanks to plenty of Yelpers, this was a pretty simple choice, unless you're one who doesn't really stray far from his Pizza Hut or Domino's, then this is where you can move on. Thanks for playing, loser! Anyway, we opted for the 18" instead of the 14", and you should probably, as well, unless you REALLY just want a piece or two. We ordered the Rebel specialty pie, a perfect combination of pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onion, and mushrooms. It's served on a very thin crust, and the whole pie comes out very flat. The 18" was cut into eight pieces, large pieces, but flat, so you can easily eat a few without missing a beat. I'll say that one last time, it's flat, meaning the toppings are reduced to a very small size but spread well over the diameter of your pie. The 18" comes in an enormous box, but just remember kids, it's flat! Yeah, you got it now! Since we'd seriously just had dinner, we opted for two slices each, then had the last four the next day for pre-kayak and post-kayak sustenance. We went the takeout route. They said it would be about a 25-minute wait and that was about right on the money. La Pizzeria is affiliated with the neighboring Italian joint, Cucina Rustica, which looks like a really safe bet for stellar Italian here in Blue Ridge. If you're in the market for decent to above average pizza in town, be done with it and go here. read more

LaPizzeria was recently sold to the owners of Harvest on Main, in Blue Ridge. We ate there with our friends this past Wed night (27apr17), and it was horrible!!! No tomato base and no cheese base on the dough, pepperoni and hamburger and onion, mushrooms, and olives were so sparse, I just gave up even trying to eat!! Had our friends describe theirs and also horrible. Sad to see this go down from the standards of previous owner John. Won't be back!! read more
