Beef Birria tacos
Michele W.

I have little experience with local food trucks, but I had a friend share her experiences of La Pinkeria and had the opportunity to try them out. Oh. My. Goodness! I selected the beef birria tacos. They were nothing short of amazing. It was an eye-rolling to the back of my head moment. I didn't try the guacamole, which was the smaller cup. The larger cup you see with a cover, I wish I had uncovered it because it contains their signature au jus, which deserves 5 stars on its own! There is a lot of care that goes into this food. I kept dipping the tacos into that and never got to the guacamole. All I can say is high-end and delicious. I can't wait to try more off their menu!

Checked out this spot out of curiosity. Owner was pleasant and welcoming. Food came out quick. I went for the Pork and Shredded chicken tacos. The chicken was spicy which was great but not too seasoned. The pork tacos were better. All ingredients weee fresh. The green and red sauces complimented both options well. All and all a great experience.

We set out on a taco tour ahead of Cinco de Mayo and to our surprise, found this BRIGHT PINK taco truck which recently opened and decided to make it our last stop. It did not disappoint! Set in the parking lot of Petco, this truck offers up tacos in..... PINK tortillas. They have a selection of tacos including alligator. I was offered a taste (see pic) and it was very good - but I was on the hunt for Chicken Tinga. Tacos come three to an order, the chicken was most and the flavor was great! Nice chipotle with a touch of heat. If you have never had a pink tortilla and think it might taste different (like my husband) it really doesn't, just a good tortilla and a little flair. We will be going back to try out the rest of the menu and one of their sparkling drinks.

Upscale Flavor in Downtown Lewes, but Something Was Missing…read more While on a business trip to Lewes, Delaware, I was in the mood for Mexican and Agave came highly recommended, so I decided to give it a try. What I really enjoyed right away was the location. This isn't along the main roadway or highway area that most people associate with Lewes, the more business-heavy stretch with fast food and chain spots. This is tucked into the charming downtown area near the canal, surrounded by neat little houses and a truly quaint, cool atmosphere. It's a great setting for an evening out. Agave is definitely more of an upscale Mexican restaurant, and the interior reflects that. Stylish, clean, and thoughtfully designed. I took a few photos because the ambiance adds to the experience. One thing that surprised me was that they don't bring out complimentary chips and salsa. At most Mexican restaurants, that's just part of the experience. Not a deal breaker, but it does set an expectation when you sit down. I started with the empanadas. They looked different from what I'm used to, but they were very tasty and full of flavor. They came topped with a fresh chopped tomato mixture, almost like a light salsa, along with a lime. After squeezing the lime over the top, the flavors really popped. Unique presentation and very flavorful. For my entrée, I ordered the veggie burrito. I asked the waitress if it came with chips on the side, and she said no, which was a little disappointing, especially considering the price point and upscale feel. When the burrito arrived, the presentation wasn't great, as you can see in the photo, but once again, the flavor delivered. Overall, I'm a bit mixed on Agave. The portion sizes were average, nothing extraordinary, but the food itself was definitely flavorful. For me, the lack of chips and salsa and the absence of a side with the burrito made it feel like something was missing, particularly at this price level. If I could offer one suggestion, adding chips and salsa or even a small side with the burrito would elevate the experience and better match the upscale positioning. Flavor-wise, they're doing a lot right. For now, though, I probably wouldn't return on my next trip.

This place is an absolute must-visit if you're in the area! I am a keen supporter of excellent taco…read moremakers wherever I go, and on a recent visit to Lewes, my wife and I decided to visit Stop N Go Taco. We had a little trouble finding a place to park, as the lot is very small. We also did not know for sure if there was indoor seating, but there is -- two booths and a bar facing out the window with 4-5 stools. We were lucky enough to get a booth that was open, and from there we could read the extensive menu. We overheard other patrons talking with the counter employee about the shrimp tacos, and found out that the restaurant makes its own seasoning. The employee (I didn't get his name) was super friendly and helpful, offering to answer our questions and help us choose. The other folks had loved their shrimp tacos, so we knew we had to try them. We also ordered a small chips and guac to share. And on a whim, I ordered the platanos fritos (fried plantains). The man at the counter asked if I wanted them with everything on them (cheese and sweetened condensed milk). We had never had them that way, so we said yes we would try it. Our food came out quickly but was obviously made with care and was super fresh. The guacamole was some of the best I've ever had anywhere! The chips were fresh and hot! I could have easily gorged myself on chips and guac, so I was glad we had gotten a small one. The shrimp tacos were heavenly -- excellent seasoning, cooked perfectly plump and juicy, and the chipotle mayo sauce (given to us in a bottle so we could use however much we wanted) was extremely tasty. We also tried the green sauce, which was also good. These tacos were easily the best we have ever had, and we wished we had each gotten an order of three instead of sharing one order. Our opinion on the plantains was mixed -- the fruit pieces were delicious and perfectly cooked with some lovely char and caramelization on the outside. The toppings, however, were too much for us. I had checked Google while we waited and saw some examples of this dish using queso fresco, but what we got was shredded cheese (possibly mozzarella), and there was a LOT of both that and the sweetened condensed milk. In my first bite, I included the toppings, and it was alright. But as I kept eating, the toppings overwhelmed the already sweet plantains, so I began scraping them off before eating them. If you like your plantains this way, more power to you! In the future, I would order them plain. The man at the counter checked on us many times and wanted to know how we liked everything. People kept coming in to order and it seemed like some of them were regulars who had become friends. That's a great sign that this place is always this good. PLEASE support these great people and their fantastic food! Your mouth will thank you!

The decor and music choices marry the Latin-inspired cuisine with a classic Rehoboth east-coast beach sensibility. I was made to feel warm (at heart, they still have AC to keep ya cool) and welcome. The highlight was the service. The man (I believe the owner himself) was the cheeriest and kindest man I've met all week. He encouraged all of our choices and offered us to try the delicious beverages (tamarind was my favorite!) Food was served quickly and with a smile. I was very satisfied even though I must admit I kept my choice pretty standard with the Little Missionary. While just a footlong with mayo, ketchup, and mustard, it really hit the spot when I just wanted more of a plain hot dog. I saw they were inland which I like. I try to avoid the neon wharf spots and I was so happy. I sat at the bar, which was full of welcoming locals and a tired traveling clown (me). The gravelly-voiced owner of I thing third generation paused a few times between sending out trays of steaming crab. He was a perfect blend of warm-hearted welcoming and hard-bitten tyrant. I went for the all you can eat feast at $69 (prices always subject to change) which comes with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. I was assured the sizes were running large and it wasn't just a line. I was happy with the mediums. All I can say is they do crab RIGHT here. Fresh steamed ONCE so the meat is incredibly moist and succulent. And they just kept coming in trays of four. I ended up having a dozen which made it a deal at $69 compared at the price of a dozen à la carte. But who cares?!? They are blue crabs steaming and fresh and it was a feast. Side dish commentary: the fries are excellent. None of this cardboard tasting shoestrings. They were thick cut with skin on! The hush puppies classically tasty and the Cole slaw was not over dressed. Bonus!!! I can't wait to go back and try the she-crab soup and the bread pudding (highly recommend by my neighbor at the bar who is a local restaurateur).
