Tasty food, attentive service and warm atmosphere! I met some friends for lunch and cocktails. The margaritas were perfect and the Mexican coffee was beautiful and delicious. We started our lunch with tortillas and a queso sauce with a hint of spice. Orders for the table then included an avocado chicken soup, tortilla soup, garden salad and spinach quesadilla. All were devoured with satisfaction! I ordered take out for my husband and he was delighted! A fajita filled with chorizo, chicken, beef and shrimp with a side of rice and beans was the perfect meal ending to a long busy week!

La Tonalteca is a solid choice for a quick lunch or dinner while outlet shopping. They get you in and out quickly, the food is decent and it's got cute decor, if a little close-quartered. My shrimp enchiladas were great, the shrimp had a wonderful spice and a grilled flavor, I'm glad I tried something different. The DBF always likes his chicken chimi, and our friends tore down their chicken nachos. Fried ice cream for dessert is a must!

The place itself is brightly decorated, tables spaced nicely and the staff all friendly. The menu size is very large, with many items sounding delicious. For me, however, it was just another typical "Chain-type" restaurant. After last year, being blown away by Agave Mexican Restaurant in Lewes, De, this fell way short. Everything was good but nothing was outstanding. The price for everything here was at least half what we paid at Agave but. . . .

Very reasonably priced with decent portions. Nothing fancy but fun with colorful decor.

The food is so flavorful and portions are worth the price. It's a vibrant restaurant and in a convenient location so I like eating here as soon as I arrive in Reho. Each time I've eaten here the server has been so kind and prompt! Great place.

Great "down home" gooey Mexican food. Plenty of families and locals enjoy the tasty stuff at very reasonable prices. Lunch specials, too. Both the Guacamole and frijoles are smooth and flavorful. The shrimp dishes are my favorites at dinner. A recent shrimp burrito hit the spot, stuffed with plenty of grilled veggies. Other half lives the beef burrito, very flavorful beef, a touch on the salty side. Nice margaritas. Some of the vegetarian dishes have mostly cheese, so the fajitas would be a better choice.

Molé Poblano chicken enchiladas off the lunch special menu.

First of all you're at the beach and you're not quite sure if this Mexican restaurant is as good as the one(s) where you're from. Well neither was I, but what I can confidently tell you is that if you're from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or California, the answer is no - this will not be as good. However if you're from some God-forsaken place that doesn't have any decent Latin eateries then this will be better. But if you're like me and are from a medium-to-large size city/metro area with a significant Latin American population (excluding the aforementioned border states, plus NYC and Chicago) you might find this restaurant standard/decent/average like I did. Is that a knock on this establishment? Certainly not. The service is friendly and competent, and I finished all my food without complaint. Places like this are staples in larger populated areas where you might not always have the time or inclination to go to the better, busier, more expensive restaurant. Again, is that a knock? No! I like places like this, where you suddenly get hungry and need to get'er done without fussing around. They're there right when and where you need them, and you don't have to over-think the menu, because you've been down this road before and everything is pretty reliable. It's a yada yada had some Mexican food for lunch type of place, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'll start with writing something nice. In the business world we call this a compliment sandwich…read morebut since this is a Mexican restaurant, it'll be a "compliment quesadilla". The margarita flight was good. Just the right amount of alcohol and good selection of flavors, though the presentation, hallmarked with half-melted ice cubes on the tiny serving tray, inspired little admiration for its preparation. Normally I don't care that much about appearances but the atmosphere of this place felt like it was stepping back into the 1980s - my grandparents basement to be exact - complete with shiplap walls, little to no Mexican themes (grandparents were of slavic descent) and limited light. It was slightly less clean and I can concur from one of the other reviews that the food stuck to the menus popped out in surprise, distracting me from the itemized list of Mexican and ocean-inspired cuisine. There was music, but I'm pretty sure I heard Cher, so it wasn't exactly the kind of music you'd expect to hear in a Mexican restaurant. The service was just... weird. I wasn't sure if I was welcome there or an inconvenience. Every time it was time to order it felt like we were being given a verbal pop quiz by an impatient gym teacher. Then the food came out and it was lackluster experience to say the least. I got a burrito that might have been 1/8 meat and the rest filler. It would have made any muscle head beach-type body builder order another 6 to get the necessary proteins. Also at the table, we had enchiladas sans an adequate amount of enchiladas sauce, so embarrassingly light, it was like a burrito pretending it had another name. The strangest phenomenon was the inclusion of potatoes in the beef tacos. We weren't sure if it was a mistake or meant to make them look fuller due to the anti-protein vibes that seem to conflict the chefs that work here. We heard there was dessert, cheesecake, from the waiter, though we weren't sure he wanted us to stay any longer. Our party quickly paid and gathered our things to leave. I suppose there needs to be another compliment here to make this a complete "compliment quesadilla"? The good news is that we had enough room for more food on the nearby boardwalk, which was fun and inviting especially after this unfortunate dining experience. 2 stars because the drinks were good, but I hear there are other Mexican places nearby that can do that well too, and much more.

The food came out late, and my Dad's soup didn't come. The waitress said what did you order? He told her again, she left, and never came back. They didn't have enough staff for the amount of people eating. We all eat, my Dad has no food. I couldn't order another drink, my son had no ketchup. The waitress came over after my Mom flagged her down, and we said where is the soup? She said oh they said it didn't taste good in the kitchen. Sorry it's bad. So my dad said just take it off the bill I ate enough chips. I had to go track the wait staff down for us to get ketchup for my sons kids meal and the bill. Then of course the soup was on the bill..... terrible service and wait times. To make things worse, I went to the bar to order my second drink, the bar tender charged me for two drinks. He was then rude when I said, I only ordered one drink. Tried to give me cash, the wrong amount back, I said, no my drink was $6, it says that on the menu. My family still hadn't gotten their check paid, so more waiting. The food was mediocre for Mexican. The salsa was the best part but can't give it more than 1.5 or 2 stars. Get it together on a busy weekend. Everyone at the bar was also complaining about how slow they were.
