La Piedad is one of my favorites! You couldn't ask for more with the tasty and cheap food and the great people. I've been going to La P since college and it hasn't changed one bit since the first day I went. Though I usually just get the super basic tacos, we went with the Texan Fajitas and a Chicken Chimichanga today. The fajitas were great but the chicken was a bit dry on the Chimichanga. Just load on the guac and the pico de gallo and it tastes great! When it isn't mid-afternoon (or maybe when it is) add on a frozen strawberry marg, they're to die for! During Covid, they've done a great job of social distancing and sanitizing tables after people use them. It's official I have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. I discovered this gem on a walk through broad ripple and vowed that I would go, the next night, my husband and I went for date night. It was so amazing!!!!!! I am a big fan of Mexican food so my expectations are high! The chips were the best I've ever tasted and I am not exaggerating, they were nice and firm and complimented the salsa. Then I also ordered a margarita which was peach and it was also amazing not too frozen or sweet. Some would say it's a Broad Ripple classic! It's a very typical Mexican restaurant. Everything is served hot, quick, and tasty. The restaurant itself could use several updates but it is almost always busy so they must be doing something right! Our food came out so quickly and I was very full but I'm not sure if it was the lunch portion but the fajitas were lacking meat. I was eating a lot of sizzling onions and peppers. For my friend and I, our meal was $20 including tip so definitely a good value. Servers are not super outgoing as we were barely spoken to, we were pointed to our seats and nodded to when ordering. Great patio and good food! Unfortunately, we weren't able to actually sit on the patio because there was a big dinner rush. La Piedad seems to attract lots of college students and families. The prices here are a few dollars cheaper per dish if you compare the menu to other similar mexican restaurants around. My taco salad was good but the service was really spotty. We stood in a line outside waiting to be seated. They weren't taking names for a wait list. You just stand and wait until a table is ready. Our waiter was rarely seen so it was a struggle to get refills. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area but it was a very average experience. read more

Reasonably priced food, friendly service and a beautiful setting await you at La Piedad. We stopped for dinner after a 317 race in Broad Ripple just off the Monon. They have a wonderful shaded patio or eat inside. We opted out! Our server was attentive, friendly and accommodating despite the crowd. I started my meal with a 12 oz margarita which was cold and delicious. The menu offers a typical range of Mexican style foods with incredibly reasonable prices especially for the area. Most dinners were about $8. I selected a combo plate with chicken enchilada, chili relleno, taco and decried beans. The chili relleno was huge and excellent - gently fried and filled with cheese. It was a meal in itself and the star. The chicken taco was a hard shell taco packed with cheese and filling. Every ingredient was fresh. The enchilada was good too. The restroom situation was a little tight in a narrow hall typical of the small restaurants in Broad Ripple. I'll be back. read more

I've lived in Indianapolis for almost a decade and all different parts of town is this is still my favorite hole in the wall Mexican place! I drive all the way up to broad ripple to get their food now that I am more in the heart of downtown. The staff is friendly and efficient. My favorites are the steak tacos, arroz con pollo, queso and of course a strawberry margarita! It's a family owned restaurant and shows true with their close to home Mexican cooking and service. Easily one of my favorite Mexican spots in Broad Ripple and have been coming here every week for almost a year and a half. The staff is incredibly friendly and the service is great. With the new COVID restrictions, the dining areas have been reworked to have fewer tables to provide as much space as possible between guests. Although the dining room may be configured differently now, the warm and inviting atmosphere has stayed exactly the same. Obviously the most important aspect of La Piedad is the food and it is incredible. I typically stick to the hard shell ground beef tacos because of dietary restrictions, but regardless of what I order is it always piping hot and full of flavor. I also am a big fan of their delicious chips and salsa which are always fresh and delicious. Besides their tacos, their taco salad is also delicious and a lighter option if you are not in the mood for a full taco meal. If you are looking for a spot to bring your family or really anyone, La Piedad is the perfect environment for whatever occasion. If you're coming here for food, expect a large portion of average Mexican-American food. But I didn't write this review for what I ate. It's the service that shines at La Piedad. My experience showed that La Piedad has an attentive, hustling staff, even when the inside and patio are packed. My friend ordered a dish without beans, but beans came out on her plate. She shrugged her shoulders and started eating. About halfway through, our server came to check on us and saw the beans. He double checked our ticket, apologized for the error, and offered to bring her a plate of rice. She accepted, and our group was appreciative we had him as our server. I have certain friends that I call my "La Piedad" friends just because of our love for this place. The restaurant is located in a cute house-turned-restaurant near the Monon Trail in Broadripple. There are cute colorful lights hanging up outside and the place is always festive and hopping. The chips here are the best ever and we usually get about four refills of them (judge me), however the queso is where it's at. You can't (and shouldn't) go there without ordering it. I also recommend the "Burrito La Piedad" with seasoned ground beef or the "Burrito Ranchero." The service here is very quick and you will receive your food within ten minutes of ordering it. The servers are also really friendly and speak to you in Spanish. They love when people respond to them in Spanish as well and always get a kick out of it. Second visit here but first was long long ago - I remembered it differently. The last time I was here I was on a date (before I met my wife and she swept me away). I remembered it being a quieter place (I am sure we sat outside then though). I remember thinking the food was great. This second visit makes me wonder if the place changed over the years. We are big Mexican food lovers and this was not up to par. My wife had meatless enchiladas. I had the beef taco salad. The kids each had a quesadilla. My son didn't finish his - and he usually wants more. My wife and I both said "I wish I wouldn't have eaten that." My son did say it is the best rice - so they have that going for them. In short - my stomach hurts and there is no amount of teeth bushing I can do to get the taste away. The service - it was good at the door. But after that, there was little in the way of them talking. It was quick though. I know there are some great reviews for this place, but I don't like it. I was going to say it was a step above Taco Bell - but I would eat Taco Bell over this. While visiting another place in the Broad Ripple area on a weekday afternoon, I spotted La Piedad. It caught my eye not because it looks like someone opened up a cafe in their house, but because it was packed! I mean every seat was filled on the patio. I figured if the place was packed like this on a weekday afternoon, it had to be good. We decided to walk to La Piedad today to try it out. If you need to park, you can find a few spaces across from the restaurant that you back your vehicle into in a diagonal manner. We were not sure what to do when we first walked in because there is a sign that directs you to wait to be seated. Since it was a Sunday afternoon and not to crowded we waited at the door as instructed. A few minutes later an employee let us know that we could sit anywhere we wanted. After snagging seats by the window, we were greeted more formally with menus. We ordered our drinks and after our server brought them, we ordered our food. They obliged us by adding shrimp to our combination nachos (Nachos La Piedad) that included chicken and beef. The default salsa was pretty good as it was not spicy which I really like. The nachos was a bit of a different story. They are good but they have a kick to them that I was not expecting. You may need a margarita to put out the smoldering fire that you will experience if spicy dishes are not your thing. Service was good also and other servers would pitch in to help our server. The day has finally come. I've heard about the fab food at La Piedad from many friends and I'm apparently the only person who has never tried it before today. It certainly did not disappoint! It was a magical experience to say the least. It's a family owned Mexican restaurant and everyone speaks Spanish. Despite my many years of Spanish training, they spoke a little fast and I couldn't understand them at times (#fail). I ordered the infamous arroz con pollo, and man oh man it was delish. Chicken + rice + cheese sauce. It was heaven in my mouth, lemme tell ya. My only complaint is that the cheese sauce was a little rich for my taste and I wish there was more food on my plate :/ For less than $10 you can get a great Mexican meal (with free chips and salsa). OH and did I mention you get your food in under 10 minutes?? They're speedy quick, but I did feel like the waiter was rushing us to order. I'm a sucker for small restaurants with lines out the door. Walking past this place all the time we always thought about finally stepping foot inside. The day came and I was not disappointed. It's not going to blow your socks off, but it was charm you with it's small but mighty vibe. Right away the server spoke Spanish to us and didn't really stop. It was refreshing being about to communicate in Spanish as an expectation. Having said that, they totally speak perfect English and do to pretty much everyone. Yummy! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants around Indy now. We went on a Sunday just a little before noon. We sat down, put our order in, and got our food in less than 15 minutes! The server was very nice and the food was great. We sat towards the front near the window and got to look out over the Monon trail. The restaurant was not very busy when we got there but started picking up a little around 12:30. We didn't get drinks but it looked like they had a large selections. The menu has lots of options to choose from, and the staff is very welcoming. My favorite thing about La Piedad is the option of outdoor seating! Last time I went our queso dip was just barely warm, seemed like it needed to be heated up. When we mentioned it to the waiter I think they just microwaved it instead of getting us a new, hot dip. Great location for a taco place, right off the Monon Trail in Broad Ripple! This place is always busy when I see it, which must be a good sign. I came here with a large group of friends and somehow got seated immediately. A table just happened to be leaving as we entered. We ordered a couple pitchers of margaritas and downed so much chips and salsa/queso. Aside from that, I ordered 3 steak tacos, which were phenom and also pretty cheap! Everyone's food looked really good. The building itself is pretty small but also has a patio. Inside was crowded, very loud, and freezing. I suggest bringing a jacket if you sit inside.
