So we've been a big fan of girls days at La piñata for many years. They have menu items for all of our friends liking---spicy, less spicy, gluten free, salads, platters and more. We especially loved the ambiance, decor, staff and drinks! It didn't matter if we were the first table of the day or it was a busy night, we were taken great care of and the whole experience was wonderful! Everyone tells us we need to come back for the patio experience so that's on the list for warmer days! We also heard they had a new restaurant upstairs and we checked this out! This was one of my favorites but our last visit definitely was a miss. We visited on a busy Saturday night. We sat at the bar and was given chips and salsa pretty quick. I ordered a spicy margarita and my wife got a soda. The bartender has such an amazing personality and made a fantastic spicy margarita with their homemade spicy tequila! The complimentary chips and salsa are always night but the salsa tasted like tomato sauce. We did order queso and it was good but a bit too watery. I ordered sweet potato tacos and was very disappointed that it was filled with fries and not sweet potato. The flavor was great but the menu should reflect that it is fries. My wife got a burrito without meat and they filled it with cauliflower and broccoli which wasn't good. It didn't say that on the menu so it was again, disappointing that it came with that. Overall the service was a 5 but the food was about a 2. So disappointing because this used to be one of our favs. read more

Drinks were excellent, made perfectly and well balanced. The table side guacamole was fun to watch and even more fun to taste. I had the Molcajete Plate with carne asada, grilled chicken, chorizo, carnitas, shrimp refried beans and shredded cheese. It all comes in a stone pot and all the flavors blend together in this meat like smoothie. It has a nice kick but not too spicy. A lazy weekend afternoon had us venturing into Warren for lunch at La Piñata Mexican Grill & Bar. According to their website, they have 2 locations in Rhode Island and one in New Hampshire. The patio was closed for the season, so we dined inside, and were happy we did as the interiors were welcoming and trendy. Meals begin with complimentary chips and salsa, which is always appreciated as a nice way to start off a meal. While the chips were great, the salsa was somewhat bland and could have used some kick in the flavor department. We weren't overly hungry and were just looking for something to tie us over until dinner, so kept it simple by going with the tacos and quesadillas (both chicken). The quesadillas were underwhelmingly average, as they used a single mozzarella cheese rather than a blend of Mexican cheeses, which made them somewhat bland and lacking in flavor. We found the tacos to be a lot more flavorful and enjoyable, so they redeemed the meal. We did find it a bit odd that the taco section of the menu didn't have chicken tacos, but did find them on the kids menu, so wound up ordering from there. They really could use a lunch menu to drive business and offer smaller portions for those that don't want a heavy or more expensive lunch. There was a bit of a language barrier as our waiter didn't have a great command of English, but he was friendly and got our order right, so all was well in the end. While we found the overall meal to be fairly average and slightly lacking in flavor, we wouldn't mind returning to La Piñata if we were in the area again and craving Mexican food, but it would likely be for dinner (since no lunch menu). read more

Very good food but false advertising on their website. Mondays are NOT $5 margaritas. It is now $7.50 AND it does NOT include the 'Skinny Margaritas' even though we asked when ordering. In her defense, the woman who initially took our drink orders apparently did not understand my question (in English) regarding this. La piñata has a fabulous outdoor patio, and tons of seating inside. The food was pretty good, but the service was very lackluster. The day we went in we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. Even so we waited about 20 minutes for someone to come by just for water. We kept trying to make eye contact looking over at the bar, But the server was very focused on changing the playlist for the music on his phone. It took nearly 2 hours in total for us to eat there which was pretty intense for just lunch. We had to continuously get up to find a server if we needed any water or chips because we'd go nearly half and hour without seeing him. I would maybe try it again if we had a free afternoon. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening. I'd been to the other La Piñata in Providence with good experience. The service here was excellent. They have outdoor seating which is quite nice. Got the cucumber margarita and tropical margarita; both were good. The food was Aok. Got the chicken fajita and chicken enchiladas. The tortillas were store-bought and the chicken was seasoned well but lacked in taste. Also, the portion sizes of the rice, beans, and other items felt small. Overall it was a good experience, just not sure why the food is not consistent between the two branches. read more

Food was good, my daughter's steak was a bit overly well done, but aside from that we were happy with the food in terms of taste and selection. We also liked the ambiance, loved the little piñatas hanging from the ceiling and other Mexican details. The prices, however, were a bit bizarre. The prices in the menus we were given were even numbers, like $14 for a cocktail, and $16.50 for a burrito, but the prices in the check were more like $15.52 for the same cocktail, $17.68 for the meal, $6.73 for something else, things like that. Kind of strange! At first I thought it was the taxes, but there was a separate spot where taxes were added, and the prices weren't simply menu prices + expected tax. The server explained that the menu contained old prices, and gave us somewhat revised prices without as many dishes ending in odd numbers, but it still seemed suspicious. I'd never seen prices like this, or prices differing so radically from the menu. I wonder if I went a second time if the prices for the same items would be the same or different. read more

We dropped in before a party for a drink and a small bite. We opened the door and a fiesta hit us in the face! Live mariachi music, a lively crowd, it was great! We sat at the bar and got a couple of drinks, both were very good. The bartender was working her butt off. Killing it. At one point I spilled my margarita, breaking the glass. The servers cleaned it up like pros. The bartender wanted to make me another drink, like it was her fault. We only got a couple of tacos, both were good, not the best, but good. The service and atmosphere was great. I'll definitely go back to try more food. read more

I wanted so badly to LOVE this place, but sadly, it was just allright. Kinda let down. We had a bit of a wait, so we bellied up to the bar and I ordered a Cocorita margarita... It was pretty lousy so I nursed it till we got our table. I then decided to try a Watermelon margarita and I have to say that one was much better! The chips and salsa were allright. I'm so used to getting thin, crisp, warm chips and these were nothing of the sort... They were cold, a bit on the thick side and a tad hard. Salsa was ok. For dinner, I had the Pollo a la Crema... It was pretty good (though you could really taste the roux) The rice and refried beans were flavorless and boring. They definitely need a heavier hand with the spices in the kitchen! So my thoughts overall... The indoor decor was spot on! The music was great! Outdoor decor was super cute! Drinks were inconsistent. Food was lacking flavor. Chips should have been served warm. This one is hard to rate... The good was awesome, but the bad was not so much... The decor was very nice; traditional Mexican restaurant colors with, of course, plenty of piñatas (perhaps a plethora of piñatas!). We were promptly greeted from a backwards facing hostess station. There was a short wait for a table, so we decided to go to the bar to have a drink. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and found it to be quite blah and almost watered down. By the time I was finished our table was ready. After being seated it seemed like a fairly considerable wait before the waiter came over. Thankfully we had chips and a very mild salsa to munch on in the meantime. When we finally got our order in I had also put in for a regular house margarita, which was thankfully much better than the Cadillac! I ordered the combo with a taco, an enchilada, and a chili rellano. As expected it was served with traditional rice and beans. The taco was unimpressive, slightly better than Taco Bell, the enchilada was okay, but lacking authenticity that I expect. The beans were bland and the rice was just okay as well. What made up for an otherwise two star meal was the awesome chili rellano! It honestly couldn't have been any better! A little kick, nice and cheesy, and cooked to perfection! Would I go back? It's hard to say... if I did I would get the house margarita and chili rellano most certainly! read more

Always super yummy! Their chips and salsa is great, the margaritas are always good. The place is super authentic. I've always had a good meal - and good service. The only time I've been unable to get in is on Cinco De Mayo, but that's to be expected. In the area, between Bristol/Warren this is most definitely the place I'd go for authentic Mexican food!!! 10/10 recommend. read more

Indoor and outdoor seating available I ordered a raspberry margarita and the Piñata fajita. The margarita was huge--a great deal. The prices were a little high for a Mexican place but it looks like they recently changed their prices (probably due to covid). The portion sizes were great. The piñata fajita was supposed to have chicken, jalapeños, bacon and cheese. Light on the jalapeños and heavy on the bacon which may not enthuse everyone. I love jalapeños so was a little disappointed by the lack ther of. Menu was very extensive, overall a great authentic Mexican place. Will come again read more

What a great new restaurant in Warren. Four of us went to the restaurant at 6:00 pm on Saturday night and it was busy. There were a couple of tables for two so we waited for a booth and it was not a long wait. We were nicely greeted upon arrival as well as by our server. The general manager stopped by the table also to welcome us. They offer a nice assortment of drinks. Two had margaritas and two of us had Mexican beer. We all had different main dishes and all were very good. I had the grilled fish and steak dinner and it was excellent. We started with guacamole which was prepared freshly at our table. The bill was $100 for the four of us which was very reasonable. Next time we might order the nachos and then go right to the dessert of fried cheesecake or fried ice cream! read more

La pinata is pretty awesome. So my wife and I went after a long day and just wanted to sit down have a drink and some good food. The smile cocktail was great and really enjoyable, kinda like a tequila sunrise with blue Curacao. The table chips and salsa was good, I do like my salsa a bit chunkier then they have here, but the flavor was good. We both got quesadillas for our meals, and the short rib was awesome. Additionally make sure you get the house hot sauce. It's made from green jalapeno and kinda blowa your mind as to what is a hot sauce. It was more like a spicy chutney but man was it tasty. Finally we got some churros that were warm, and sweet. It was a great meal. Also, Kremi was our waitress and did a fantastic job, she was very kind and patient with our questions and was a pleasure to have. Highly recommend this place. read more

Update: please don't listen to the review saying this is a place to get "coronavirus". I go here pretty much every week & all staff wears masks and I see them cleaning/sanitizing menus, tables & condiments after every use. Someone complained about the menus having white out prices but people, we are in the middle of a pandemic! Maybe supplies are running low or something. You're eating out in the middle of a pandemic.. you don't really have a lot of room to be complaining. be nice to essential workers!!:) Staff is so friendly. Everything is clean. Decor is beautiful & food is amazing. I'm so happy that there's finally a Hispanic restaurant in Warren. It's really busy during rush hour & on the weekends, so sometimes you have to wait 15-30 minutes for a table. It has just opened a few weeks ago so they're still getting everything in order but I'm just happy that they have a lot of customers! read more

I've heard good things about this spot so I finally decided to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed. I love their outside dining area which is huge. They have it well decorated and spacious so the social distancing is not a problem. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was very warm so we ate outside. I'm not sure if they are accommodating indoor dining as there was no one inside, but w/the weather as nice as it was, it was a no brainier eating outside. The waitstaff was very friendly as well as the host who seated us. We were seated and our waiter was at our table almost immediately. The food was tasty and the drinks were even better! I ordered, I believe on the menu it's the Blue Paradise and let me tell you this was the perfect drink to have on a warm summer afternoon...so good I had 4. And yes I was not driving so it was all good! I noticed alot of 3 stars for this place and I feel that isn't fair. When coming to these types of restaurants, you have to have reasonable expectations. Meaning, know what you're going to get. For me, if the waitstaff is on point, the food is tasty and the drinks delish, them you've earned my 4 stars. First time trying this restaurant. It was a slow, weekday night following a snow storm. We ordered the Piñata Platter Appetizer and a Shrimp & Bacon Chimi to split. Everything was DELICIOUS!! The flavors were incredible. The Chimi itself was complemented by rice and refried beans, replete with an avocado slice and sour cream. They even provide complimentary chips and salsa (we were fortunate enough to get our second round warm). Pros: Fantastic food, really nice relaxed atmosphere, clean, wonderful prices Cons: None Pro Tip: Don't fill up too much on the chips and salsa! You'll want to leave room for all the yummy fare.
