My family and I were here celebrating my birthday. It was our first time in Punta de Mita and we were recommended over to The Blue Shrimp from a local. Overall experience was awesome. We were seated with a great view of the beach. The whole staff was friendly and attentive; they all greeted us as we were being seated. The food was delicious- had the pescado sarandeado which was full of flavor . Also tried their margaritas- BEST tamarindo margarita with very generous pour of Don Julio Tequila. Our meal ended with a complimentary chocolate mousse which was also delicious. I will definitely come back whenever I'm visiting Punta de Mita. read more

Yum!! Delicious, fresh seafood right on the beach in a cute town! We met friends for dinner and our group of 7 was easily accommodated with drinks, appetizers and views!! The service is amazing, and the food is even better. We chose the maple grilled octopus and yellow tail sashimi for the table which were all well received. I chose the seared tuna and hubs got the grilled catch of the day with molé. Both were very good and had a nice balance of flavors. The margaritas are refreshing (don't plan on driving anywhere after), and the cocktail list is extensive. ***the bar area is large and they have TVs*** We will be back next time we visit! read more

The place looks great but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this place. We had dinner next door, and stopped at la Pescadero for some post-dinner drinks. I will preface my comments by sharing that I have been drinking Don Julio tequila for over 20 years, and consider myself somewhat of a tequila connoisseur. I ordered a DJ reposado. The waiter came over and gave me a generous pour, even gesturing at the bottle and saying, "Don Julio tequila"! That seemed a bit odd, but perhaps he's just an exuberant waiter, I thought. Immediately upon tasting the tequila I realized why he was playing show and tell with me. It was very obviously NOT Don Julio tequila. It's very disappointing to have a place sell you fake tequila, but especially so when they charge you American prices for it. I expect to pay tourist prices in these areas, but please don't screw me by also playing me for a fool. It's adding insult to injury. BTW, my wife ordered a dirty martini and her drink was also not close to par, i.e. it was watered down. I love coming to Punta Mita and highly recommend it, but stay away from this place. There are plenty of great (and honest) restaurants in this area. read more

Loved this restaurant in Punta de Mita town. Your feet in the sand and a delicious margarita in your hand. We had the traditional and the cucumber Serrano marg on the rocks. Just make sure you're not driving. Food looked good at the table next to us. Guacamole made table side amongst other food. We didn't eat here but may come back because it looked too good. read more

Well I'm sad. I'm very sad. I'm sad because we did not dine at the Blue Shrimp at the beginning of our trip. If we would have, we would have dined here multiple times. One of the best attributes of their menu is that they serve BBQ ribs and Kobe beef burgers. They do NOT disappoint!!! Queso... incredible!!! Drinks, strong. They also served us each a complementary chocolate mousse. We asked the chef to come out so we could applaud and thank him personally. Abraham took excellent care of us and with 2 picky kiddos, we all enjoyed every bite and every minute of our dining experience. PS.... the view? Beautiful!!!! read more

Things have changed. We have dined here for years, even before the name change to Blue Shrimp and the food and service have been exemplary. The service is still enthusiastic and pleasant, the food; not so much. We ordered the catch of the day with two different preparations. Visually they were pleasing and the sauce on one of the dishes was tasty. The fish, my gracious, what have you done. One of the reasons my wife and I love dining in Punta de Mita is the quality and preparation of the fish. The fish was mush, not soft, but mush. My wife had a "sautéed" preparation, not so. It appears the fish was poached long past the due date or perhaps refrozen. My entree was equally fluid. I had the same experience at "Demita", the old "Si Señor" the night before and I figured it was a one-off (same owners). The waiter was very apologetic and invited the manager to join the discussion. The resolution was to pay the full bill for the meal, but receive a discount if we were willing to try our luck again. No thanks. read more

Just the most relaxing spot with just amazingly fresh seafood cooked perfectly. Yellowfin sashimi caught that morning and prepared perfectly with a light ginger soy. Yum. We had the most memorable afternoon here! The service first off was tops with friendly and interactive staff. Alda was our primary server and treated us with such a special flair! We ordered everything from fresh guacamole made at our lounge chairs (YES we were relaxing ocean front under shaded wood patio!) that came with their house made nut and corn chips to seared ahi, aquachilies shrimp and a fish ceviche. All was delicious the ahi were 3" cubes seared with wonderful soy sauce and peanut. I had them cut up the whole shrimp in aquachiles which was a spicy green sauce with cucumbers cold dish. What a great dinning experience. We were immediately greeted at the hostess stand and shown to a table overlooking the ocean. Great restaurant, right on the beach. This place has the same owner as Si Senor, which is right down the street. Both places are fantastic. We did not have a reservation (Sunday night) but they showed us to the bar for about 2 minutes while they prepared a table. Appetizers were good, we had freshly made guacamole, which was prepared table side, and calimari which I'd give 3 stars. Many similarities and dishes shared between both restaurants. Good kids menu for younglings. We skipped dessert and they included a small chocolate mousse with fruit to send us off. Excellent value. Our party of 5 with drinks, appetizers and tip was under $200 USD. read more
