    The place - VN

We ended up at this place by chance before a show at the Stages theater a few doors down. ATMOSPHERE: Simple and clean bistro-like interior in white, with nice hanging art work. Servers standby, waiting to tend to you. Plus, they weren't too busy. A single mariachi singer walked around for tips. MENU: Apps, salads, soups, seafood, steak, pastas, Mexican fare. FOOD: Seafood Casserole - This is a medley of 2 mussels, a couple of shrimp, plentiful calamari rings, and a single skinny leg & claw of a tiny rock crab along with its midsection, done in a garlic butter sauce. Flavor was good, and everything was cooked nicely, but the crab claw was so small, the meat that was pulled out was a tease. The midsection, where all the legs attach to the body, had no meat inside! Don't bother putting it in if you're gonna use such a crappy piece of the crab!? My crab cracker came a few minutes late; better than never. Filet Mignon - My spouse's dish. The server said that the dish was customizable, so he added on 2 giant prawns that were wrapped in bacon then pan fried. I had a bite, which was good, but what isn't that's done with bacon?! The thick cut meat was pretty rare, which he sort of enjoyed, but said wasn't "prepared well." SERVICE: Our male server was friendly and professional. OVERALL: Nice menu, good service, avoid the Seafood Casserole.

Just had lunch here! It was fantastic! Super friendly service. Nice cozy interior. Prompt service. Had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and it was outstanding. We have walked by this place for years and just never stopped. So glad we did. Best Shrimp ever!

Roberto knows fresh seafood, this is the flagship of PV. The Mahi Mahi special was fantastic. We came here during the art walk and he seated all 11 of us in 10 minutes. The place was full and they created another table for us. They had a run on the Sea Bass so we dined too late for that. The tortilla soup was amazing, the smoked marlin in chipotle sauce was excellent. The steaks had amazing flavor but were a bit tougher than prime cuts. The other visitors seemed annoyed that our 22 month infant was playing the piano. The noise level was up there, many just ate on.

Super delicious shrimps and very friendly staff. We enjoyed the portobello, jumbo shrimps wrapped with bacon, and the fresh shrimps with garlic cream.

The red snapper and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp was outstanding. Staff is wonderful.

You wont meet a nicer crew. Roberto and Caesar are the best. The food is the best! We ended up visiting three times in 8 days in PV! Place is clean, top notch service and just a fun place!

Great food and great service! The must have dish is the stuffed shrimp filled cheese and ham and wrapped in bacon.

The coconut shrimp was flavorful, the rellenos had so much character, and there were even vegan options.

My favorite was the Classic Tuna Montadito, lightly marinated chunks of fresh tuna served over a bed of avocado--so fresh and flavorful! The Green Aguachile was made of raw shrimp marinated in a mildly spicy green sauce; and the Crab Enchiladas were four rolled tortillas stuffed with shredded crab meat and topped with a rich, creamy chipotle cream sauce and avocado slices. For our entrees, the Romantica Fillet was a rare seared tuna filet served over avocado salad and sweet potato puree; the Los Muertos Fillet was mahi mahi topped with shrimp in a creamy red sauce, served with rice and sautéed vegetables; and the Olas Altas Fillet was mahi mahi topped with a mushroom sautee. Each of these entrees was fresh, delicious, and came at reasonable prices. On top of the good food, the service was super friendly and attentive as well!

However, as me and my friends (it was 4 of us) were leaving the restaurant, our waiter chased us down claiming we did not tip enough. Here's a note from my friend detailing more of what happened: "It was 150 pesos which is a little more than 10% of the total. In Mexico, 10% is completely customary, especially for tourist. Locals will give even less and typically leave only about 50 pesos. I don't know if he was expecting for us to give him more just because we're used to giving 15 or even 20% at a time but I always do at least 10. If it's one of the really nice restaurants where they take care of absolutely everything then I do get more than that but this was just a normal place And I did fold the bills because I clipped it into the checkbook, so there is a chance he thought it was just 50. But to flip out and say it's not enough that he deserves more or just to take it away is crazy in my opinion." We may return, but this really turned a perfect visit into a not so great one in the end. The 3/5 is for food and service, would've been 5/5 had we not been stopped as we were leaving for not "tipping enough".

One of their most iconic dishes was El Kraken, a whole small octopus, grilled and served with potatoes and tzatziki. From the taco menu, the Tres con Todo were three "tuna al pastor" tacos made of cubes of tuna with pineapple, sprouts, radish, and creamy avocado on two fried tacos--creative, but nothing too outstanding flavorwise. We continued with the Pal'Mito salad, made of hearts of palm, sundried tomatoes, avocado, spinach, bacon, and seared tuna. The Churrasco de Salmon was a perfectly tender salmon filet topped with a cream sauce and served with plantain puree and grilled corn on the cob. Finally, the Pesca del Dia was a fillet of snapper topped with mussels in pesto sauce and served over plantain puree--super tasty, though the pesto definitely overwhelmed any other flavors in this dish. Overall, the food here was all delicious and beautifully plated. The flavors were bold, the prices reasonable, and the service was super friendly too!
