Beautiful restaurant. Make a reservation. Excellent service and food presentation. The complimentary app and dessert was delicious. The queso fundido was good as well. The entrees were very underwhelming. Our waiter also gave our leftovers away to another table. We had a large portion of steak and potatoes and one enchilada left. They said they would send us home with something from the kitchen. The containers were closed and wrapped so I checked them this morning and there are a few enchiladas and a tiny side of beans. What happened to my $40 steak?! I even tipped 20% because I thought they took care of us. I'll be calling the manager today. read more

Mmm yum, margs, seafood and entertainment with a view! This area is still pretty quiet due to COVID, I don't think tourism has fully come back yet which made it very easy to get a table overlooking the beach. The service is really great and there was live music. We started out with some ceviche and margaritas and salsa. The roasted salsa is BOMB, they crush the tomatoes in front of you and rarely do you get warm salsa and it is so good! Came in for dinner on the 2nd night of our trip. My wife and I were able to get a table right on the water. The hostess originally was a little reluctant to offer that to us but after a brief 30 minute wait we got a great table that was worth it. We ordered the pork conchil as an appetizer. The whole restaurant smells like this amazing wood burning oven and pork that is slowly cooking and it is unreal. We had to order it. The pork was amazing. We also ordered the table side guacamole for an app and it was amazing. They added in avocado oil to the guac which gives it a great consistency and taste. They had the best house made chips to dip into the guac. So good. For entrees I ordered garlic butter prawns and my wife ordered the chicken enchiladas. Chicken enchilada were meh. This place is now called Zicatela. Great views and fun vibe. We were staying at the W and wanted to check out the town and found this place. Lots of other places around this on the street to consider as well. Food was not that great , average quality but it's all about the vibe and views. Service was ok, servers are quite insistent on tips at the same % as in the US, our server really insisted for 20% or more. Watch out for how much you spend here. read more

Nine of us I knew we were in trouble when it took 30 minutes to get our margaritas The guacamole was good and the salsa was good but that was where it ended All our meals were overcooked and ice cold and most of the dishes they got wrong They apologized but it wasn't enough The service was bad. The waiter staff had no clue what they were doing. Although the management comped our meal, I would have gladly paid to have had a nice experience In the end I also cancelled my second reservation I do not recommend this place at all. What a great little local restaurant on the water. It is casual and open air and we had dinner and drinks as the sun set all around us. Sam and Mauricio took wonderful care of us there too. There were 8 of us and we ended up doing a family style dinner where Sam just sent out the best of the best dishes. Everything was great, would highly recommend! read more

Excellent meal and experience! We requested authentic Mexican cuisine from the concierge in the hotel. All three concierge advised rosa Mexicano at the same time. Other local restaurants have Food for tourists, this is the locals choice. We were greeted by Arcadio, who is the manager, and he was so great throughout the meal. He seemed personally interested in us having a good experience. The fresh salsa made at our table was such a delicious way to start our meal. Manuel guided us through the ingredients and preparation. Not sure I've ever had salsa that fresh and tasty. Then he made us guacamole at the table with the same preparation. So good!!!!! For entree I had the fresh red snapper and my wife had the huge local shrimps. We were both really really happy with the entire meal. Only bummer was we were too full to try dessert. This was our first food experience on our vacation in Punta de Mita and it was absolutely FABULOUS! Rosa Mexicano is a beautiful restaurant right on the beach that has great service, food, and margaritas! My family ordered the octopus and table side guacamole as an appetizer and it was delicious. He made the guacamole right in front of us. The octopus was to die for - completely melted in your mouth and full of flavor. As my entree, I ordered a stuffed poblano pepper with shrimp, dried fruits, walnuts, and pomegranate seeds. I spaced on the name of the dish, but it was so unique, flavorful, and delicious. My mom ordered the pubil/carnitas dish and my brother had the stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. We all enjoyed a a mango, hibiscus, and passionfruit margarita with our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant on your trip to Punta de Mita! Just for price purposes - we got out of here for ~$97 USD for 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 margaritas + tip. The servers could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our meal began with a roasted tomato salsa prepared table side. It was on the house with chips. A generous tequila pour came with my margarita. For the app, we ordered the fried rib eye with guacamole. It was juicy and tasty bites for dipping. I had the grilled octopus and the serving was so huge that I had leftovers for lunch the next day. A bonus was Neptune, the surfing dog who came to our table for a snack. It appears that Yelp has moved the address to Punta Mita, due to either a location change or newer branch. When I was last in Bucerias in November of 2015, the original location appeared to still exist.*** Came here on a Friday night in early March during a recent vacation to Bucerias, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Though a little cheesy, with stereotypical mariachi entertainment on Fri & Sat nights, it was nonetheless a very enjoyable experience. Food was delicious and authentic, with an emphasis on the fresh, regional cuisines of Mexico. Seating is open-air in a very picturesque and large garden backyard, and the traditional equipale furniture is comfortable and accented with the brilliant rosa mexicana hued linens that is its namesake. Very appealing setting. There is a full tequila bar set up for the aficionados such as my husband who can walk over and choose a specialty brand to sip. The complimentary salsa is made tableside in the traditional manner-- in a volcanic stone molcajete where the roasted whole tomato is crushed together with all the other ingredients (lime, onion, garlic, jalapenos, cilantro) and served with homemade tortilla chips. Hubby and I thought everything we had was delicious-- we split a shrimp molcajete, (which came out sizzling with panela cheese, chorizo sausage, nopal, onion and borracha sauce) and a nopales (cactus) salad. Yes, the place was chock-full of gringos, but after a couple of (delicious) margaritas, who really cares? Just expect prices to reflect this, though! For a couple of drinks each (ME: margarita & wine, HUBS: tequila & beer), glass of milk for la nina, and the (shared) entree and salad, our total was 680 pesos (~ $54 US), inc tax/tip. read more

Be sure to show up for sunset. Beach front tables with a great view of Punta Mita waters. The molcajete is the specialty but the bacon wrapped shrimp is also pretty awesome. I loved this place so much! It's so colorful, truly gives you the Mexico beach restaurant vibe. We sat outside, the tables are set up on top of the the sand, the outside is lit up by really cute lights and gives this very romantic vibe. We went a little late on a Sunday evening. We were the only ones at the restaurant - most others were also quiet. The staff was very attentive. The table side guacamole and salsa was incredible. I've been coming down to Punta Mita for a couple of years now and this year was the first time we ate at Rosa Mexicano...and I'm not sure why we waited! This will be on our list next year. This restaurant is located right on the beach in PM and has a great outdoor space (even some tables on the sand!). We found the drinks to be stiff and interesting; think passion fruit or cucumber & jalapeño margarita. The food was very solid, with more options that Americans would resonate with (fajitas and queso) vs. other restaurants in PM that focus heavily on seafood. read more

We have been in Punta Mita for 5 days and have eaten at all the "best" restaurants- this by far has been my favorite! The friendly service and amazing views of the Pacific just made it that much better. My family really enjoyed themselves! I highly recommend as a must if your in Punta Mita. We asked the chef to choose various tacos for my daughter and I and it was remarkable. The grilled octopus for an appetizer was perfectly grilled and so fresh. Only to find out that it hadn't been placed. Another 30 minutes went by...I'm not kidding, before our food showed up. I was so angry by this time, I asked for the bill, intending to leave ASAP. There were only two tables with people at the restaurant (we were one) and it took an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The food was not anywhere close to the same quality and we were also charged for food and drinks we did not order. In the past week ive been to Rosa Mexicano twice. The service is top notch. The margaritas are a little pricey but very tasty. The food was amazing both days, I had the combination fajitas both the shrimp and steak were delightful. On the second visit I got the special which was grilled lobster. It was really good but in my mind a bit over priced at $50 usd. I would definetly recommend this resturant. read more

Rosa Mexicano was a great choice for our evening meal. We went a little earlier than most (the sun was still setting), and got a table. Our waiter was very nice and went through their menu, as well as giving us some random tips about the area. We ended up deciding on a bunch of the bowls. We started with the guac which was hand made in one of the bowls at your table, which allowed us to customize how hot it was. A little bit after that they brought out our dinner in the bowls. Beware they are very very hot, to the point my food was boiling the whole time. They include your meat of choice, as well as huge chunks of chorizo, onions, and peppers. I had the chicken bowl and it was some of the best seasoned meats I have ever had. The bowls are a lot of food and a little pricey, so it may be best to split between two people. read more

Whatever this place was, it is no longer. I read the amazing reviews and was very excited to try this spot, I really wanted to like it. But i wrote this review to inform you that not only is it a ghost town ur every worse a shell of its former self. The rustic seating and authentic Mexican decor has been stripped away and replaced by foldable lawn chairs. The waiter got our drink order and food orders wrong, and was clearly intoxicated. When the food arrived, not only was it not what we ordered, but it was lackluster in appearance as a grey fillet of fish pooled in some kind of oil. My understanding is that they had a hard time staying alive with covid, shutting down for 8+ months and now attempting to "reopen". The property itself is for sale, and pending new ownership which is probably why they have "given up" on their glory days. Not sure what the great reviews were talking about, but I assure you it is no longer the case. Save your wallets and your stomachs for literally any other place on la playa. Not to mention, the credit card machine didn't work, so we have to go back to pay cash tomorrow on an honor system... that is all read more

Nice outdoor restaurant. The drinks are pretty stiff. The salsa is pretty good, but they tend to cater to tourist, so ask for more pepper if you have a palate for spicy food. The fish is fresh, and their specialty is the molcajetes. It's chorizo, choice of meat, nopales (cactus), panela cheese, green onions, and peppers served in a HOT stone bowl with corn tortillas.
