This place was really good. We were told it wasn't and that was dead wrong. The staff were nice and attentive but we did catch a tiny bit of annoyance from the main guy. Not sure why. Maybe because we don't drink. The ambiance was on point. The tables inside were very colorful with a beach vibe. The outside table we sat at had a beautiful view. The amuse bouche was very tasty as were all of the starter apps. Honestly the mains paled in comparison to the apps which was too bad. I had the Suckling Pig Taco which blew me away even with that name LOL. They were so good I discussed this with one of the waiters and he fully agreed. The Thai Noodles in Ginger Sauce was good but a little cold. I think that's how they serve it. The Amaranth-Fried Soft Shell Crab was especially tasty. The Bay Tuna Tostada was excellent. The Grilled Octopus in a Red Mole was good though a little slimy. I love it when places give you a little included dessert and the Coconut Macaroons did not disappoint. When dining in another country if you do not have any personal recommendations, you have to rely on reviews and they can vary across the board when looking at Yelp, Google and Trip Advisor. We stayed at week at The St. Regis and wanted a nice dining experience off property and Tuna Blanca seemed to be a top winner on all 3 sites. Tuna Blanca is located at the end of their shopping district which is right across the street from the luxury hotel compound. You have to enter the Punta De Mita Beach Club to access Tuna Blanca. We ended up sitting on the beach which I soon regretted. The view was of small dinghy's tied together and way too many sellers hawking goods on the sand. While the view is absolutely nothing compared to the view from Mita Mary, the food and service made up for it. When you make reservations, they say that if you dine a la cart, you are seated inside the open air space and the beach area is reserved for people dining on the tasting menu. Maybe because it was my birthday, but we were seated outside although we dined from the a la cart menu. We started with the blue bay tuna tostada which was incredibly fresh and delicious! Our mains were the temazcal shrimp and the chargrilled beef filet that were equally just as delicious. For dessert, I chose the flower pot and to my surprise, they presented it on a surf board and sang happy birthday to me! It was really special and we loved it! Okay damn his grandpa spent 30 years as General Manager of George V in Paris that's actually beast. Ok ok ok I hear you: "But Johnny isn't this just another classic case of nepotism?" A good question indeed my dear reader as we must ask these hard hitting questions to have a clearer picture of the truth. But I assure you, as I am Yelp Elite for almost a full calendar year and having finished Kitchen Confidential in under a month, this couldn't be further from the truth. This was one of the most creative, delicious, and fun meals I have had in a long time. The Pumpkin Soup was served out of a literal Pumpkin. The Temezcal Shrimp was fire grilled tableside. The Tuna Tostada was OUT OF THIS MF WORLD! WOW! CLAP IT UP FOR THAT TUNA TOSTADA! Even a simple dish like my Catch of the Day was plated and presented in a passionate, inviting way that brought a smile to my face and a flood of anticipation to my empty belly. The food had me so enamored that I haven't even mentioned we were sitting outside about 20 feet from the water, hearing the waves crash just beyond the elevated seating. There was also a guy playing guitar and singing taking song requests. I requested Danny's Song but he didn't know it. That's alright though, I was just ready to belt "EVEN THOUGH, WE AIN'T GOT MONAAYYYY, IM SO IN LOVE WITH YA HONNEEEYYYY!!!" My parents requested "Can't Help Falling in Love'' by Elvis as it was their wedding song so it was actually a really cute moment as they sat there swaying to the guitar chords and softly mouthing the lyrics with a slight content smile on their faces just taking in the vibe hehehe. All in all, I'm finding it rarer and rarer to find people putting passion in their work in any area of life. Movies seem to be all superhero movies or reboots of old classics. Music has become all about getting songs to catch for Tiktok. I get it, it makes money and that's great. I see no evil in that. But where has all the passion gone? Where has all the love gone? If you're visiting Punta Mita make sure to come Tuna Blanca for the best food & dining experience we had during our stay. Tragically we found Tuna Blanca the last day we were in Punta Mita but fortunately the restaurant, service and ambience gave us the most memorable experience of our entire stay. I'm only comparing this to the on resort restaurants which were very good but Tuna Blanca is basically a Bib Gourmand level quality of food and service and left all other restaurants we tried wanting. Every meal we had was insane but I regret not trying the tasting menu only because I would have loved to try the entire menu. Do not skip this one. Make a beach table reservation, get a good bottle of wine and eat your memories. The mango passion fruit sorbet was life changing, something I never imagined ever thinking about sorbet. Tuna Blanca was probably my favorite meal that we had when we visited Punta Mita. We originally had reservations at 8 pm but decided to change it to 6 pm to catch the sunset, which I highly recommend since the restaurant is located right on the beach. Jimmy warmly welcomed us as soon as we were seated. We started off with cocktails and ceviche. The view was very enjoyable, we were able to see whales in the ocean as well! It wasn't hard to convince us to try their "temptation" (5 course tasting) menu for 1,700 pesos. I had the tuna tostada, pork belly taco, grilled octopus, filet, and corn bread. Every course was delicious and presented beautifully. However, the dessert was the biggest surprise for me! It was so thoughtful for them to create such a sugar masterpiece on a surfboard with a sparkler for my birthday. Service here is wonderful. This was hands down the best food we ate on this trip. Most of our time was spent eating at Resturant's in the Conrad Hotel. This was suggested by one of the bartenders and it was well worth the trip. We did the temptations menu which was five courses and we did the wine pairing. The wine was ok but we are somewhat wine snobs so we like higher end wines. They paired well with the dishes. My family and I have traveled the world and have eaten in many five star restaurants. We had the most disgusting experience at this restaurant. I am a pescatarian and was very careful with my meal selection... I ordered shrimp that was cooked in front of us... The shrimp was supposed to be mixed with sautéed vegetables. The menu said shrimp and sautéed vegetables! Because this restaurant is on the beach and it was night time it was very difficult to see what we were eating. I had eaten almost half of my meal when my daughter turned the flashlight on from her phone so she could see what was in my dinner. It was then that I realized I had been eating winged ants crickets and worms! I immediately jumped up and ran for the bathroom where I was very very sick. My husband tried to tell the waiter that it was unacceptable but he replied with "it's a Mexican delicacy and it was normal and I shouldn't be upset". Any other fine dining restaurant or meal would've comped our meal or at least admitted fault but they did not know how to handle the situation as they kept insisting that it wasn't a problem. Be careful what you order here if you even go. My family and I will never return to this place and we travel to this area yearly! read more

My family and I had dinner at Tuna Blanca on 7-27-21. This restaurant came highly recommended at it was subpar to say the least. Pros: The restaurant is located right on the beach with a beautiful view and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt. Cons: First, the restaurant didn't have three menu items on that day. The restaurant had a very limited menu AND they were out of three items. Second, my son ordered a strawberry daiquiri and it had a hair in it. Third, the medallions of beef had the consistency of hamburger meat with no flavor. Lastly, the cost of the meal was rather expensive relative to the dinning experience. In conclusion, save your money and find another restaurant. read more

I was skeptical at first because usually fine dining restaurants in a tourist down arent that great, but this place completely surpassed my expectations. They sat us right by the beach and it was this beautiful view pictured below (I had a reservation for 7:00 PM). I ordered the 6 oz short rib which absolutely melted in my mouth with the perfect amount of tenderness and flavor - it also came with some mashed potatoes. My mom ordered the shrimp which was cooked right in front of us on hot stones - an amazing show and one of their fan favorites. The service is a complete 10/10 - people are so friendly and help you over the steps when available, their servers are the perfect amount between attentive and letting you enjoy your meal. There were also couples celebrating their anniversary where the servers would bring them desert on a surfboard with sparklers (absolutely gorgeous). Fantastic spot! Had dinner last week and as usual the Yelpers nailed it! Start with the pumpkin soup!!! So good. I also had the pork tacos and they were the best thing I are all week! Wife had the steak and didn't leave a bite for me. Jesse and Raul run the front like pros they are and are the nicest folks around. We probably sent 5 other couples from the W to hang with the good people from here. It's a beautiful spot either inside or out. It's an attractive place, with the inside dining area opening up to the outside (covered) patio, leading to the uncovered area that overlooks the beach. We opted for the outside covered area, since the sun was still pretty intense. I'm glad we did, because we noticed that people walking on the beach -- one right after another -- were attempting to sell jewelry, blankets, candy, and I'm not sure what else to the diners seated on the perimeter. The servers' demeanor was extravagant, borderline obsequious -- the maître d' was watching them like a hawk -- but that's not surprising for an establishment that caters to (mostly American) tourists. We ordered fairly simple starters -- a quinoa salad for me -- then for our entrees, my husband got the short ribs, which were HUGE and smothered in sauce. I think he liked them, but it looked intense (and I'm hardly a delicate bird when it comes to eating). I ordered shrimp cooked on hot rocks, which were tasty. None of it would make me run back, but everything was fine. And then, when it came time for the check, the servers who had come by our table every two minutes for water refills, "how is everything?" suddenly were occupied with other things. Even after several requests, we could not get our check. It was odd; usually, producing the bill is when busy restaurants are at their most efficient! There are other restaurants in the area; if we were to return to Punta Mita, I'd consider this place a one-and-done. read more

Be still my foodie heart. Every thing about Tuna Blanca is top notch! My family and I dined early, so we basically had the place to ourselves, and felt like we got royal treatment. From the hostess, to the waiter, and all the other staff, absolutely warm and friendly, and so accommodating. Let's start with the delicious bread basket, soft little croissants, bread, and crispy bread sticks, my kids loved them all! They gave us complimentary smoked marlin baby tostadas, so delicious!! The Smokey fish, a hint of jalapeño was perfect. We ordered fettuccine with shrimp, my daughter and husband said it was some of the best they have had! My two boys had beef medallions with fries, and they gobbled it up! My husband got the pumpkin soup - which we all tried, and all Loved, and the short rib birria style, and said it was the best he's had in years! I got the mixed salad with roasted vegetables, and the shrimp temazcal, flamed cooked table side! The salad was so delicate, so flavorful, everything I love with the warm veggies and goat cheese. The shrimp was absolutely amazing! The fennel and mole sauce was the perfect touch of flavor! This was the best meal we've had in Punta Mita, and one of the best period!
