Pasta la vista, bay-bay La Pasta recently opened up in the food court at Los Cerritos Center, and I welcome the addition of a great new food spot in my neighborhood. The proprietors of La Pasta spent weeks in Italy to learn the artisanal craft of traditional Italian pasta making. Not a pasta aficionado, by any means, I do know what I like & what tastes good. Sweet Butter Tagliatelle w/ Shrimp & Cheese Wheel Toss- Creamy, with earthy & herbaceous notes from sage to balance out the brown butter sauce. The Tagliatelle was perfectly al dente, and a pleasure to chew with each bite. The optional Cheese Wheel Toss kicked up the unctuous mouth feel of the pasta, and was worth the extra cost. Very good. Next time, I'd add some heat from chili flakes or hot sauce. Creamy Vodka Spinach Pasta w/ Meatballs- Speaking of heat, the Creamy Vodka packed a punch! Sweat from my forehead poured, with each savory bite. The Spinach Pasta was good, however I prefer long pasta, as it's more fun to eat. The meatballs were generous in size. This dish is for the heat lovers. Service was excellent. The wait was minimal, and my entrees were well packaged. La Pasta is located in-between Ruby Thai Kitchen & The Grind in the food court of Los Cerritos Center. I try to limit carbs, but at La Pasta, my heart & my tummy look the other way! Sumptuous pasta dishes, w/o having to deal with the sit-down restaurant experience, La Pasta is a worthy food option at the Los Cerritos Center. Came here during the soft opening and customer service was great!! Staff very friendly and helpful. Wait time wasn't bad. $45 for 2 pasta dishes is a bit overpriced for the quality of food and portions. Chicken Alfredo was very basic. The sauce was just ok. The chicken was dry and salty. Pasta was a little overcooked. Definitely would not order again Vodka creamy pasta with meatballs was better than the Alfredo. Piping hot and flavored well. But unfortunately not worth the money. The bread was horrible. Soggy and definitely not fresh. I think it was reheated more than once as the ends were chewy and middle was soggy. Overall probably wouldn't come back. read more

I wanted to beat the official grand opening. Easy to order, place was clean, food was decent. I ordered the Alfredo with the pasta that paired with it and added chicken. EST. Was 6 min. Pretty spot on. They took their time preparing the food and presented it well. Downfall: noodles were overcooked. It was so soft that it broke through the fork when I tired to mix it. Taste was bland, not enough Alfredo. It reminded me of boxed Alfredo. Chicken was spot on and glad it was shredded and not how it's pictured on the menu. Utensils were very flimsy. I don't like forks that can't roll pasta. Also, can't say the staff was great since I wasn't given my receipt back to thank him for his kindness. Would I come again? Maybe? I was really looking forward to this place but ultimately left disappointed! The good: the spinach tagliatelle was fresh, the Alfredo sauce paired with the Parmesan wheel was yummy (despite the temperature, see below) and I liked the bread. Their branding is cute too! The bad: our order was incorrect and everything was lukewarm; the chicken was ice cold. The chicken was supposed to go with the creamy vodka crestepasta, not the Alfredo. My partner just moved it onto his but it could've been a bigger deal if I were vegetarian! I also think the prices are a bit steep for food court pasta: this photo is $45 (!) worth of food. I didn't find the portion lacking in terms of hunger (not sure that's $3 worth of chicken though) but yeah, just kind of steep considering the overall environment + cold food. The employee taking our order seemed a little confused by some requests/questions, although he was nice enough. Hopefully these are just opening pains and they'll improve in the coming weeks! read more

A new pasta spot opened up in the Cerritos mall food court. I was immediately intrigued by the giant cheese wheel so decided to try their shrimp linguini alfredo with cheese wheel (+$5), and their chicken fusili with truffle cream sauce. I must say, the $5 extra charge for the cheese wheel is well worth it. It added a more sharp taste due to the aged Parmesan. The pasta textures were al dente and perfectly saucy. Highly recommend & definitely would be back to try other pasta combinations. read more

Food took long, but did not taste fresh. The pasta tasted like it was microwaved. My 9 year old friend's daughter who loves a basic Alfredo pasta took one bite and said it tasted funny. I felt bad because she came hungry but did not want to eat this. I noticed there was a weird smell to it too which I don't know where it was coming from so I kind of understood why the child did not want to eat it. read more

Had a great experience at La Pasta, a new spot in the food court! I ordered the linguine with pesto sauce and grilled chicken breast, and it was really good. You can definitely taste the difference with the fresh pasta, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The pesto sauce was flavorful and went really well with everything. It also comes with a side of garlic bread, which was a nice addition. Everything tasted fresh and the portion was satisfying. Next time, I definitely want to try the spinach pasta with pesto sauce. La Pasta is located at the food court inside Los Cerritos Center aka Cerritos Mall. The ordering process seemed simple and easy, with a 3 step process to build your pasta: sauce, pasta, and protein. I added the cheese wheel toss for an extra $5 for my butter noodle, tagliatelle, and chicken which also had Parmesan cheese and parsley on top. The butter noodles were a bit dry (half star off ) and therefore the creaminess was certainly not there, however with the cheese wheel toss, you would think it would have been a little bit creamier (half star off). The staff didn't seem too helpful on what to order as far as what would be recommended for a first time customer (half star off). I also ordered a strawberry cream soda drink which all in all, the food along with the drink was very filling, so much so that I didn't finish my meal. I think if they had the pasta wheel more visible so we could see the actual cheese wheel toss, it would create better marketing and entice the customers. The cost was also high, not reasonable being that we were eating at a food court inside of a mall (half star off). Otherwise, it wasn't bad, it was just ok. Went back a couple more times and I will say that they have it down a lot better now. It definitely didn't take 30min to get my pasta order. I've only ever ordered the pasta and sauce with no other toppings so I would assume it's pretty easy to put together. I did not get a voucher for a free pasta. I wanted to give this place another chance out of my own pocket because their pasta really is pretty delicious so rest assured, this is a genuine review not a manipulated one. If the owner still wants to give me a free pasta voucher great but I don't know how to message them to take them up on their offer. One suggestion I'll make to the business is to prepackage red chili flakes. Every time I ask for some they have to put them in a little container for me. I don't mind but it seems like the team is constantly busy and it throws off their routine when I ask for chili pepper flakes. read more

This is my second time trying this place because when a business first starts out, there is some mishaps and learning to do so I waited a couple weeks to write this review before making any judgements on it. I ordered a spaghetti with meat sauce for my friend, and spaghetti with alfredo and the cheese wheel toss. My friend said the taste was fine but expected it to be better. For me, It was not at all what I imagined it to be. Although the pasta is freshly made, the flavor of the alfredo is just mediocre. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either and the cheese wheel was definitely not worth the extra $5! My pasta was dry, had little sauce and I didn't even taste the cheese from the cheese wheel toss which I thought would make it a lot more cheesy. I wanted it to be so good and it wasn't. The $56 I spent for the two dishes, two pieces of bread and a drink is just not worth it. read more

Just go to North Italia in the same mall and pay the same price for a plate of pasta that actually tastes good and has a better environment to eat in.
