First off, this place is extremely small and extremely loud. There is only counter top seating with 5 barstools. And there is a loud fan that filters out the fryer smell. It's really loud inside with music blaring over the loud fan. Secondly, the prices aren't a deal. If you pay in cash, you get 2% off. For 2 thin pieces of fish and fries, it's nearly $20. I could think of a lot of other fish places to go to for $20 and feel satisfied. This place did not hit it for me at all. In summary, Fish was fryer hot and fries were good. New restaurant, who dis? Took over one of my last favs but notably pretty inconsistently open bento joint. Saw it pop up on my fav app of course and boom, had to try it. As many of the other reviews stated, the fish portion was pretty large, I actually sat at the little counter there and ate my entire dinner right there. Used the Malt Vinegar with salt and even some tartar to maximize the feel and taste of some fish & chips. Unfortunately, I just feel that the fish had any flavor at all even with the crispy, perfectly cooked batter. Chips were kinda soggy and reminded me of In-n-out fries in texture but longer. Welcome to Artesia! The fish here is delicious, fresh, crispy, and affordable. On my first visit, I ordered the cod. It was so good that I came back the very next day and tried the Big Artesia, which I believe was flounder. Both were excellent. I prefer the shoestring fries over the steak fries, but it is nice that they offer both options. The parking lot is small and can get crowded, but the food is absolutely worth it. First timers at this tiny gem of a place! Tried the Artesia house Fish & chips- 8oz Alaskan pollock filet with steak fries and an extra piece of Cod to try the both types of fish. Both were delicious but we preferred the cod. Yes, it's quite tiny with limited seating but if you're lucky enough to nab a couple seats it's worth the experience watching customers pile in and order their food while we enjoy and finish up eating our meal and happily offer them our seats. LOVE that they had NA beer!!! Paired well with our fish and chips The cook and employee on break were very attentive and friendly. First walked in because of a social media post ..walked out happy ;) their servings of the fish was huge and very tasty! This is our first spot in Artesia and so many residents ran to get it and they seemed very pleased! Nice small business and pretty much it's more of a take out. Noticed this place while picking up some pizza. Tried it the next day and I was not disappointed. Shrimp was nice and crispy/crunchy on the outside and plump and juicy on the inside. Fish was also nicely crispy on the outside with just a bit of chewiness that makes biting into feel great. The inside was fluffy and tender/flaky and was cooked perfectly. Seasoning overall was balanced and nice, it wasn't too salty and didn't need any extra. The tartar sauce was very nicely made and I can't really describe it except to say it was among the best I've had. I used it to dip everything (except the fries). Shoestring fries were okay, they kind of look and taste like McDonald's fries but better quality. I'm waiting for them to cool down completely to see how it tastes cold. Wait for the food is what you would expect since it is a small place but I went when it was empty and waited about 5-7 minutes for my order. Staff was also friendly and gave extra sauce. I'm always looking for new spots to try and found this one. I got the wild cod and steak fries. The fish was cooked really well, it's crispy, and it doesn't fall apart. You get all the tartar sauce you can want as well as vinegar, lemon, and tabasco sauce. The guys there are cool, friendly dudes as well. It definitely filled the hole that the shutdown of H Salt in Downey left behind. The only thing to note is that it's really more of a takeout spot as there are only a few seats inside. read more

I thought I'd check this new fish & chips near my house. The sign outside still said "Soft Opening". They pointed out to me it was one week past their soft opening but not quite a grand opening. I ordered the cod only and large coleslaw. Upon the first taste I picked up a small fried fillet of fish and the crust immediately broke and slid off the fish. So I had naked fish to dip into tartar sauce. The tartar sauce was the best thing I tasted not the best but it was FREE. I asked for 3 and they gave me 5. All the staff mumbled and didn't communicate well. The crust sliding off fried fish usually means that the batter did not adhere properly, often due to the fish being wet or the batter being too heavy. Additionally, frying at the wrong oil temperature can also cause the batter to separate from the fish. As far as ambiance, there wasn't much to enjoy but new menus to ogle at, that's all. I think I'd make out far better by air frying my own frozen cod fillets and buying 1 lb of Starter Bros. Coleslaw for the price I paid for 1/4 pound at Staters. I doubt I'll be coming here again and I wouldn't recommend it unless they tried to make my experience better. read more

The pollock tastes good, but seems to have a dry breading with dried parsley sprinkled on top rather than a wet batter. The steak fries were crispy, hot and good and a generous portion. The shrimp have a tempura batter but unfortunately didn't have much flavor. It definitely needs some cocktail sauce but since they have only been open about 2 weeks they don't have any yet. The place is very tiny (4 seat counter) so most people seem to take their orders to-go. They are in a small strip mall with a 7/11 so parking is tight. The food is good with about 95% of customers in my opinion will be pleased. Unfortunately it's not my style since I'm used to H. Salt fish and chips. Another reviewer mentioned "flounder" but they only offer pollock and cod. That being said I wish them good luck! read more
