I've eaten here a few times for dinner. The food was good. I went the other for lunch and they have no lunch menu. They also charge separately for chips and salsa. I was disappointed that they don't have a lunch menu. I then heard the staff talking about me in Spanish. I didn't think it was an odd question for me to ask when it was noon and I wanted a lunch menu with smaller portions and a smaller price. The manager (?) came over and said, "what about a taco?" Um, noooo. I don't want "a taco" with nothing else. I left without ordering food. Nobody wants to feel that the staff are talking about them. read more

This restaurant is located in sketchy part of town in a pretty run down strip center. My first instinct was to go somewhere else, but I saw it had over 100 reviews on Yelp and a rating of 4 stars, so I gave it a try. Big mistake! The service was terrible and the server gave me the impression she would rather be anywhere else. I ordered the steak fajitas, usually a safe best. Consistently good, authentic Mexican food in a pleasant, informal setting- small place, attractive furnishings, very nice staff. I have been a regular for years and should have written a review sooner. The menu is big with many options, my favorites include stuffed poblano pepper, huevos cherizo- eggs and sausage- and cheese enchiladas. I have had several other dishes, too, and all are tasty. I also like their mole and other sauces, spicy, but not over the top hot. There is a Mexican grocery attached and a regular flow of Mexican customers, which, I suppose, reinforces the authenticity. I usually save a 5 star rating for superior food and this almost reaches that. There are other good Mexican restaurants in town, but this is at the top of my list. read more

La Pasadita is a glum tale of a once great restaurant being hamstrung by mismanagement. The former manager, Santiago ran a tight ship here for years. On a recent visit, he was nowhere to be seen, and it reflected on our experience. We ordered tacos with corn tortillas. Server brought us tacos in flour tortillas. when I reminded her we ordered corn, she blamed it on the kitchen and brought us a side of corn tortillas and suggested we scrape the filling from the flour tortillas into the corn tortillas. And so we did - and the tacos were tasty. The chicken enchiladas, on the other hand, were inedible. Kitchen standards have fallen, and there is no longer any consistency. This place is terrible! Don't go!. The first Mexican restaurant I've ever been in that didn't bring chips and salsa to the table. My son and I ordered3steak tacos made .Mexican style. I wasn't impree. My son wanted French fries. First he was told they don't serve them there. My son pointed out that they're on the .enu. Oh yes the manager said we served them but the oil is not good. My son the ordered rice and beans. Not very good. I had to use the restroom and it was disgusting! Oh and lets not forget the bill. Had to stop here to take an emergency poop. Great spot - but 3 stars because there's no toilet paper. Waddled across bathroom for paper towel roll. It's a catch 22 though, because the sign scotch taped to the wall says you can't flush paper towel down the toilet. The brown spotted paper towel evidence in the trash concludes someone else had the same problem I did. Nonetheless, got the job done and this place saved me from messing up my day...and my pants. As a lover of Mexican food, I was pretty stoked to try this place. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment! My Al Pastor Tacos were meagerly filled with weirdly burnt and mushy pork. The flavors were okay but the soggy texture of the meat just killed it for me. I only made it through 2 out of my 3 tacos. My fiance was also unimpressed with his steak burrito. He typically inhales anything you put in front of him but he left more than half of the burrito untouched. I tried a bite and I almost had to spit it out, the flavor was so bad. The chips and salsa were decent, although not complimentary. The prices seemed reasonable until we tried the food. For the low quality of the food here, it's simply not worth the money or the calories. There are much better options for Mexican food in Gainesville, I'd recommend steering clear of La Pasadita! read more

Okay, so you know how I always say I don't like Mexican food, that's true. Except, it turns out that I like carne asada. Flank steak. So, when Boyfriend got all grumpy because we couldn't figure out where to eat lunch, I surprised him by choosing a Mexican restaurant. This was a great choice. The restaurant is cute and clean. The service was good. I really enjoyed my food. They do charge for chips and salsa, but that keeps the prices down on everything else. And the most important part of any Mexican restaurant, soccer! I'm very passionate about Mexican food, and La Pasadita is undoubtedly my favorite in Gainesville. There are many other places I enjoy, especially for specific items. These include Cilantro Tacos and Blue Agave, but La Pasadita is the overall champ. They have the very best corn tortillas. This makes a huge difference when it comes to tacos. My favorite combo is one each of carnitas, al Pastor, and carne asada. The chips are always fresh, with excellent salsa and the hot sauces that accompany the dishes are also great. I have also enjoyed the mole rojo many times, but currently I'm on a taco kick. I've never had a bad experience there, both in terms of service and quality of the food. If it wasn't so far from home and work I would be a regular. read more

A small, humble, restaurant in a bit of an out-of-the-way location, it's easy to overlook La Pasadita, but very worthwhile to bother to find them. I had the three tacos and got al pastor for all three: the pork was perfectly prepared in the al pastor style and the tacos were served with cilantro, onions, and lime as is the Mexican tradition. Moreover, the tacos were large--even larger than La Tienda's and for less than six dollars, this was enough for dinner which to me is very impressive both in terms of quality and also value. The menu has plenty of other options, too, and all are very fairly priced. I got my tacos for take-out and they were cooked up promptly but were certainly fresh, too. They provided both salsa roja and salsa verde for the tacos: the salsa roja was quite good--spicy and also smokey--but the salsa verde wasn't very impressive, really. I would not say their queso--which I also ordered along with chips--was quite of the caliber of La Tienda's, either, but still it was certainly fine. There is nothing fancy about La Pasadita but they do what they do very well: traditional Mexican comfort staples served up quickly whether for dine-in or take-away. While not quite as good as La Tienda, this is the next best option for authentic Mexican food in Gainesville. read more

The food is super authentic, cooked by people who are really Mexican and know the spices and flavors that come from the country. They make their own Micheladas by hand and use a "secret" blend of spices. YUM! The food is amazing, especially their shrimp ceviche, street tacos, and chile rellenos. From the outside, this place doesn't seem like it's going to be good. I went with friends for dinner because I heard good things about this place and all of my friends loved their food. I got the super fajita (beef, chicken, shrimp) and it was fantastic and I tried my friend's campechana fajita which was also delicious. My other two friends got the Carne Asada plate and the regular beef tacos and they said they will definitely be back. There was a nice atmosphere in the place and the waiter knew the menu very well and helped us choose what to get. Their drinks are awesome because I love coke in glass bottles and they have a wide selection of different sodas. The price was very fair and the portions were just right. I had 3 soft shell tacos here and all of them tasted amazing. I had the Carne Asada, Carnitas and Al Pastor taco. The Al Pastor taco was my favorite one out of all of them. I love pineapple and with the marinated pork, it was a match made in heaven. Quick service. You sit down, you eat great tasty food in a matter of minutes. What else do you want in an authentic Mexican restaurant? Now comes the price of 3 tacos. $6.95. Although the tacos were good, they weren't exactly filling. I could probably eat 2 more of any variety to even call it a dinner-sized meal. My buddy though, ordered steak nachos. That came in such a big plate, I was astounded! He could not finish the whole thing so I helped him finish his meal. The decor is playful with vibrant colors. La Pasadita is an average Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and very family oriented. There is colorful decor everywhere. The food however was so-so. The salsa and queso were pretty flavorful, but the main dishes were somewhat bland. Refried beans looked of just baked pinto beans from the can. The Spanish rice was some of the best I've found in Gainesville. The enchilada and taco were pretty good too. A yelp elite was with me and ordered grouper with poblano peppers. I've never seen a tamale crumble like a cookie or drowned in so much oil in my life until I ordered that dreadful thing from here. The burrito was complete mush. The steak was rubbery and very bland. It was obviously old and nothing fresh about about any of the ingredients. This a restaurant quality burrito that left me so disgusted and upset I am still in shock that they are allowed to be selling the type of food the did to me! I want my 22.12$ back. These guys have obviously figured out how to game the yelp system. A filthy take out joint in a nasty strip mall next to a tattoo parlor surrounded by homeless people. Drove 20 miles out of our way based on the yelp rating, only to wait 90 min for mediocre tacos. Still love this place. Less crowded than La Tienda, faster service, and a nicer dining room. Now it's twice as big! That's right -- they more than doubled the number of tables by taking over the next-door shop in the shopping plaza. I wish I would have taken a picture before I started eating. The presentation is not good. I ordered a chicken burrito. I thought the menu said with rice and beans on the side but I guess it is in the burrito. So the burrito came on a plate with only a small amount of sour cream on the side. I was expecting something more I guess. It did taste good though. The chips and salsa are extra, about $2.50. Usually places like this include chips but I'll let this one slide because the chips are very hot and fresh and the salsa is good. The dining area is very clean. The service is pretty good. The prices are average to a little high for what you get. I've had much better Mexican food in Gainesville but this is good and nice to have on this end of town. read more

My husband and I were excited to try this place because it's so close to home and we love Mexican food. Unfortunately, we left very underwhelmed with our experience. From the moment we walked in no one said hello, we were pointed in the direction of the dining room by a woman who looked very annoyed, and because she didn't say anything we were left to assume she was telling us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat waited and when this same woman finally joined us to give us menus she finally spoke. She had attitude the whole time she served us. On the other hand, the food was good. Not as seasoned as some other Mexican places in town, but good for what it is. (My husband would disagree as he thought the food was better then a few of our frequented spots). At the end of the day we decided this will be a good take out spot, but definitely not a regular sit down spot. read more

This place was just okay. Pretty decent Mexican food, but not something I would go out of my way for. The staff is definitely super nice and welcoming, and the decor is pleasant. I thought the chips, salsa and queso were the best part of the whole experience. I ordered the carnitas burrito with cheese, but while the serving size was huge the burrito left a lot to be desired. Not only that, but I developed really bad heartburn after eating it (and I'm usually someone with a pretty tolerant stomach). I came here with my two kids and in general, we enjoyed the food! I got the combo with beef burrito, chili replenish and guacamole salad. It was great! Kid#1 (10 yr old girl)- I got two tacos, beans, and rice. I really enjoyed the food! I got the tacos plain with only beef and cheese. They were crunchy tacos. They kind of tasted like buttered popcorn, which I really liked. They gave me refried pinto beans and refried black beans. They also gave me a lot of Mexican rice. This is not from the kids menu, it is a regular adult meal. I was able to eat my two tacos, but I had to take home my rice and beans. I was very happy about how much food I got. Kid#2 (7yr old boy) - I got a burrito with beef and rice and it was HUGE. I could barely eat only one half of it. I took the rest home. It was really good and I enjoyed it. read more
