I did not look at the reviews prior to eating at El Patio as my friend Googled food near us and I went with it since we could walk from the hotel. We went to dinner after 9 PM and it was pretty slow. It was our servers first night and she was sweet and willing to help answer all our questions (even when that meant she had to go ask someone). I had a seltzer, guac and a taco and my total was $14.50. Wow, I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore lol. What a great deal! The guac was my least favorite. Something about the texture wasn't quite right:/ But I ate most of it because I was hungry. The chicken taco was superb! The chicken was flavored delightfully! It included lettuce and cheese and I added their homemade salsa which I really liked. The restaurant was clean and colorful with paintings on all the booths and chairs. Agree completely with Don and Nanci. The service was under par (very friendly just super slow) and no mention of any margaritas, drink specials, or drink menu. We waited over 15 minutes before a food order was taken and over 15 minutes for our check. However, the food was great! I'm going four stars. The Michelatta is awesome. Great selection of tequilas. I ordered the Chilles rellegnos with rice and beans, it was supper fresh the breading and cheese and sauce were perfect. I also had some Tamales which were also very well made with a nice red sauce. As I was eating noticed to different work crews coming in for lunch the staff is supper friendly and the inside is clean and welcoming. read more

I came in to eat at this restaurant today. My server goes by the name off Tiffany. She was amazing!!! I couldn't decide what to eat so I ask her opinion and she recommended this steak chicken and shrimp fajita. It was so delicious. I never had to ask for drinks she kept my cup full and also I noticed she made my alcoholic beverage. I asked does she serve or bartend she says both. Absolutely awful service. The waitress was impatient, rude, and refused to give an itemized receipt. Apparently the restaurant operates on a mystery pricing system where everything is ridiculously overpriced. Traveling from north to south we stopped by for Mexican food; at first glance it's nicely decorated and the food certainly looks Mexican, however this is an American mexican restaurant. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't eat the chips and salsa; I'm not sure which of the two it was, but we all got instantly sick with a pain in our stomachs and felt nauseated, and could not fully enjoy the rest of the food. I usually don't go out of my way to post reviews but seeing my son sick I figured I should if it helps to avoid someone else getting sick--he never gets like that. All of us getting sick was made it pretty clear as we altogether ate chips and salsa upon arriving. The hostess is RUDE! Not even a hello when we walked in the door, put the menus down at the table and didn't even wait for us to sit, she just walked away. The server was super nice and attentive. On my most recent visit, I ordered a chicken chimichanga lunch special to go. I really enjoyed it. The order was ready quickly and came with chips and salsa. The salsa is light on cilantro, which I like. I have also eaten in house. The restaurant is not fancy, but is comfortable. The queso is good as well. Dark, only some of the lights were on. Looked like it was half defunct, and the table was disgusting. The server left before we noticed the state of our table, so we had to clean it ourselves. The food is slathered in cheese in a way that covers up a need for actual skill in cooking. read more

I was very wary to try this restaurant because of the poor yelp reviews. I am reviewing the Alachua location. Chips and salsa and water arrived promptly. It took a minute for the waitress to get to us, but after she did, she was very attentive and friendly and helpful for the entire visit. There _are_ margaritas that aren't on the menu. Real margaritas, not wine. They are basic lime margaritas- okay. I couldn't decide between a couple dishes, and went with the waitress's suggestion of Cowboy Fajitas. They were the BEST fajitas I've ever had. My dining partner had the El Patio Burrito, which was excellent as well. We split flan for dessert- excellent. The food came out unbelievably fast. Today I came to el patio for something to drink and something to eat. The restaurant was very warm. I asked my server Kennedy if they could turn the AC on. She said the kitchen staff will make that determination when they get warm. I feel like that's ridiculous that the kitchen staff makes the call on how the customers feel in a restaurant. I think the AC should be on an the customer should be comfortable while enjoying their drinks and meals.. I personally feel this is the mindset of the owner of both restaurants the restaurant in Alachua restaurant in High Springs. read more

We are here around dinner time and had zero wait and attendant staff. Margaritas were pretty blah so get a beer or something you can be certain of the contents (pretty standard for mex restaurants though....rare to find one with good house margs) The food was good for a chain-ish restaurant but I always ask the wait staff what they recommend when menu is too long and cumbersome to decide. We had the high springs special, taco salad, chori queso and quac dips. For the price and location I would recommend this place again. My son was visiting from out of town and we wanted to go out to eat. High Springs doesn't have many choices so my son opted for Mexican food. El Patio advertises that it has the best Mexican food in town. You can't argue with that because IT'S THE ONLY MEXICAN FOOD IN TOWN!! Food usually is good with large portion sizes. Food was delicious, service was ok. My brother, his girlfriend, and I stayed in Gainesville for a few days to float down the springs. We got to our Airbnb around 8pm and El Patio was the only place near us open! The inside decor is so fun and authentic. We sat at the bar and ordered fajitas, we wanted chalupas but they couldn't fry anything that night. The fajitas were really good, I get nervous when I order shrimp at some places but this was yummy! Our bartender was so sweet and helpful with menu items that we could order. We got some margaritas which were okay. Tasted like sweet and sour mix really. But they were out of anything you could add to give it some flavor, like OJ, Grand Mariner, Lime juice, etc. All in all, if you stay in Gainesville and want dinner, if recommend El Patio. read more

So when ever I see fish tacos on the menu I usually get them so I saw it was a new menu item I ordered first off very little (tiny) bits of fish wished I would have taken a picture not much else on top okay for the flavor it was like eating bits of nothing with the flavor of only oils no seasoning to be found the rice was the best part of the meal and that's saying a lot. I ordered a bowl of what they call cheese something or not sure what but was supposed to be a cheesy dip with some kind of Mexican sausage it was like cheese soup super runny couldn't even dip a chip in it it would just run off I ended up having a young lady take it back. El Patio in High Springs "what happened ?." This was our favorite place for Mexican Food, but something went wrong there. !! The main entrance was covered with newspapers as if a bed for a homeless person? Told the server about it and she said she was unaware and would let the owner know. The handicap ladies room the sink was actually out of wall and sitting on floor. The ladies room on left side the door handle hardware was falling out of door literally. Went here with my husband. The waitress was over friendly, hovering her breasts in front of my husband, who kept eye contact. We asked to purchase one of the cups our drinks were served in. I was expecting a 2 dollar charge at most, but she wanted $8.00. No way. Our bill (with the 8 dollar cup fee) came to $70.00. I told her to remove the cup fee. Suddenly our bill was $52.00...with an ending comment of "If the cup is missing I won't be coming after you." So now we can steal the cup? Confused! I was hungry and was at the Holiday Inn after a day at the springs. I just wanted something close. I would call my experience an Italian mexican experience. Their mexican food tastes really good, but has no hot spice to it. Normally the salsa or something in the dish will burn my mouth. My wife really enjoyed the food as well. It was a nice change to normal travel food that is all fried... go get a combo for $10.99. It will make you happy. read more

I came to this spot to check it out since my family and I moved to the country, and I must say it was sketchy because parking lot had one car lol but after sitting down and ordering the enchiladas de camarones and my hubby ordering a big burrito I was super impressed. The chips and salsa were fresh and the guacamole to die for, and the waiter was amazing although there was only one other couple but she was attentive.
