I was so happy to stumble on them gem. I love Cuban coffee and try to stick local. Real coffee. Real breakfast with REAL prices! I loved the sausage egg and cheese croissant with a Cuban coffee, dark and sweet cortatido. The ladies were so sweet .

I've heard a lot about La Paris from my husband. He works downtown and eats here practically every day. It was about time I checked it out for myself to see what my nightly dinners were being compared to. If I wasn't with a regular, I definitely wouldn't have known where to go. The entrance is pretty nondescript, as is the inside. The "Paris" theme comes through via a few random photos and paintings of the Eiffel tower on the wall. Other than that, it's pretty much a lot of tables and chairs crammed into close quarters. It was packed, too! Ok, so why come here day after day? The food is pretty darn good and CHEAP. I was urged to order the vaca frita and you a choice of two sides between rice and beans (red or black), salad, vegetables, tostones, and maduros. I opted for rice and black beans, as well as salad. My better half got pollo a la plancha with vegetables and rice and red beans. We also got a fresh limonada with little sugar to sip on. All of this food was $19! And I had enough food to have leftovers the next day. Depending on what you order, you can be pretty healthy here, or go crazy and get other Cuban favorites like pollo empanizado or a medianoche. The rice, beans and meat were spot on (especially with some fresh lime). The salad I would pass on, but maybe get the veggies instead. Would I go out of my way to come here? No. However, it's definitely an easy, casual, and tasty option for my husband, so I'm fine leaving him in the friendly staff's hands day after day! Lord knows I certainly can't make vaca frita like that!

This place is a hidden gem. The food is exactly what you would expect from a busy downtown cafeteria. Prices are great. Inside might be noisy but that's what you expect from a fast paced cafeteria that serves most of downtown.

This restaurant is far from fancy. The lady who answers the phone is always rude, impatient, and with an attitude. I usually eat the chicken noodle soup when I'm sick or it's cold out. However, before I order, I ask if it's fresh.... I won't be eating from here ever again, disgusting, check out the discolored chicken!

DIRT AND MUD IN THE SALAD!!! WATCH OUT…read more We ordered the salad with mango and pecans. They do not wash there lettuce. There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. Literally my tongue and teeth were black. The waiter came by and grabbed the plate when I was in the bathroom. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that BLACK SLUDGE out of my mouth. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

We made reservations in advance for dinner and arrived 30 minutes early and were warmly greeted by restaurant staff and seated us at a table within a few minutes. The restaurant is truly beautiful and has amazing decor and live musicians as well. We were seated near the windows, but they also have really cool patio seating overlooking the bay and the Virgin Cruise port. We were warmly greeted by our server and she offered to answer any questions we had on the menu and provided her favorite selections as well. We started with a carafe of red sangria to share for the table ($39) and then ordered the Croquetas Jamon Serrano ($13) and the Mushroom Croquetas ($14). Each had 4 or 5 pieces per order and OMG they were all absolutely outstanding and fresh! You have to order the croquettes, and we're used to having some great Cuban food as we've lived in Miami for more than 15 years now and dine out frequently. For entrees, we all ordered different options, and everyone loved their dishes! I had the Local Fish of the Day (Snapper) for $38 and OMG it was very fresh and an amazing catch and very flavorful and the portion size was perfect! I also really loved the coconut rice and black eyed pea curry. Service and food are all outstanding and we look forward to returning the next time we are in the Bayside area!

Wanting to try a Cubano in Miami while waiting to board a cruise ship at the nearby Port of Miami,…read moreI chose La Canita Bayside because it was close to the Port (not walkable though), having a well reviewed Cubano on its menu. The service was attentive, and the food was delicious, but for one sandwich entree and one appetizer for lunch, it ended up $64.80 out the door. A bit steep. Located on the second floor of the Bayside Marketplace outdoor mall, La Canita Bayside is one of three locations around the Miami area. The elevator that the signs were pointing to, was out of order so a bit difficult for cruisers with luggage. It opened at 11 am, and my brother and I were one of the first ones in. We had our choice of indoor seats. We asked for tap water, which was constantly kept refilled by Mayra, our perceptive server. We split two dishes: conch fritters ($17) and the Cuban experience ($33) - a combination of a Cuban sandwich, glazed deep fried pork belly, and fried yuka (a sandwich by itself was not offered). My brother loved the glazed pork belly (chicharrones), but prefers his Cuban sandwich more time on the sandwich press, to create that melded experience. I loved the 4 pieces of hush puppy looking fritters, served piping hot with a large number of conch pieces mixed in with the spicy batter. I liked the sandwich as well, but wouldn't rank it in the upper half on my list. There is a mandatory 20% service charge for all size parties, which was clearly indicated on the menu. It's an 8% sales tax. It could be argued that high prices should be expected for this area, but the mall itself is no longer considered a top destination in Miami. I do think the atmosphere would be completely different at nighttime and/or the weekend. Maybe have a lunch priced menu when the space is like a normal restaurant, to attract more folks.
